I love it when a pedal has usable sounds, while still bringing something unique and inspiring to the table. The Demedash Effects - T120 Videotape Echo provides exactly that!
I'm old school, I've been producing this sound for 20 years with everything that was at hand, actual vhs, cassette, reel to reel, then later plugins. I think this pedal sounds great. BUT at that price, at least it should be stereo.
What does stereo mean to you, and are you talking about live performance versus recording? Do you use effects purely as stand alone, or as part of a signal chain? Having stereo is nice, but more often than not I use mono for recording. If you're using it as part of a larger signal chain, stereo can present a big set of issues; some effects in that signal chain may be stereo other are not. And even if all your gear is stereo, it can present an issue if the other stereo effects in the signal chain only provide a mono input. If I want a stero effect I'll record a second part and pan them. All true stereo uses this in a recording environment, it's not just a matter of panning. I don't mean to be critical of your point because I think it's a valid point, but the topic is damn confusing. I do know that some of the best and interesting pedals I own are mono, and they get amazing sounds. Chase Bliss being one of them. I own this pedal. I've used it... no wait, I've never used it. I have a lot of other pedals that do the same thing. For me it's about having option that produce something unique. For example, I'll use TASCAM Porta 02 mkII, or one of my other analogue recording devices to get the wow and flutter, but other times I'll use a pedal that does the same thing, like a Chase Bliss Generation Loss, or the Cooper Fx Generation Loss II, or one of my other devices. They all do things a little different. When I use a different device, I'm usually inspired differently. But I get that some people don't want to do this. Sometimes it's just me, my guitar and my amp, the use of pedals is conditional.
just got one of these in the mail today! it's so unique, really loving the wide variety of tones available. defs gonna be finding a permanent spot on my board for sure

Oh man, I didn’t even think about trying this on Bass-- I got an early through board component version and it sounds so....unique compared to the other wobbly and PT2399 stuff-
Yeah I agree it sounds great slow. That’s right up my alley. Also as an aside, I did a double take when I saw this pedal because I literally have a bunch of VHS tapes with various music videos I recorded off MTV in the 80s with that box design.
Thanks man! The last setting is probably my favorite but I wrote down a few others that are really nice. Maybe I'll clean up the handwritten version and post it.
Very cool pedal. Great playing as always. I think the old Line 6 DD4 does this almost as good in both it’s Sweep & Lo-Res delay settings. Although what you did @ 5:40 is definitely not something I’ve heard from the DD-4 before. That sound is special! Almost like a delay version of the SLO-Reverb dream setting? I’d love to see this thing go up against the DD4. Thanks!
adamajah Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it :) I’ve had an off and on relationship with music but started taking it more seriously in the last few years.
Not exactly sure if it’s good for that specific sound but it’s easily one of the most unique delay pedals out there. I’d be surprised if anyone thought otherwise haha.
I've owned and used many of VCRs, both Beta and VHS, and have never heard this kind of delay in old worn out tapes before. Either way, this pedal sounds amazing, but cost too much
mindfall82 Thanks! Nah it’s pretty calm. The tape quality and intensity work together to hit that oscillation. So it definitely depends on those two controls. You can always dial back the intensity. I just like the way it sounds right in the brink.
@@-thirteen Thanks for replying dude. I can't accurately describe why but I really like analog pedals more than digital. I'll probably get one of these though if my number is called from the waiting list.
@@Hellspwn6 Yeah, I understand that. The digital programming on these pedals lately is very accurate and warm, not to mention new and interesting. I can relate to not accepting the digital, however.
Possibly digital but it does not use Digital Signal Processing. When it comes to delays and reverbs you are going to have to go digital if you want vast expressiveness. It is hard to explain but you can't do as much with an analog Bucket Bridge Delay as you can with DSP. I have no idea what the T-120 is doing but they advertise NO DSP and I believe them. You should study electronics, it clears the mystery of what digital verses analog really is.
