I feel very lucky for having an Ukrainian grandma that cooks this
I remember grandma's kitchen smelling so wonderful with Perogies and Holabtsi this time of year. Her kitchen table was lined from edge to edge with perogies as she and mom would make tons for the family coming over. Gods I miss Grandma and her cooking so much.
These look great..... my Baba also use to fry onions and put them with the mashed potatoes. I have never been to the Ukraine cause my baba came here to Canada as a little girl...and I was born here. I'm happy I found your channel and hope to see more Ukrainian recipes. Thanks.. IPKA.
+Erica Pink thanks,

Derek Sharp pig...I know what you mean when you said your comment pig!
i will surely try this recipe at home looks so delicious
Brilliant video! Emphasis placed where emphasis needed. Not a second of boredom watching this. Excellent! Thank you.
I love it! I’m Ukrainian and this is a beautiful recipe Olga! I miss when my baba would make it.. thank you for posting I no it’s an old post but wonderful
But I didn’t see her put any cheese in her potato filling, did you?
Thank you for making a dough without egg! Baba’s were always the most tender-you could cut them with a fork even after they were fried, and she said egg made the dough too tough.
Olga you are an amazing cook but you and your family take care in Ukraine thinking of you all from northern ireland
Looks delicious! Will give it a try.
Olga, you are Such an amazing Woman, I can wish you all the Best, greetings from Poland ma'am 😉❤️🇺🇦🇵🇱
THX for the recipe - they were a bit ugly due to me sucking at forming them but taste was on point. ❤
Favolosi buonissimi in Ucraina li mangio spesso ❤❤❤
I’m Chinese. I would love to try putting potatoes inside. It looks so delish.
These look amazing. The only thing better is after they've sat for a day to fry them up on a frying pan with a little bit of unrefined sunflower oil.
This recipe looks fantastic. I must make it immediately, I always have these ingredients in the kitchen. You have a definite skill for showing how to cook; very illustrative of proper technique. Keep up the good work and thanks for the recipe.
+anon ymous thanks, I will
Beautiful!
Lo hare por que se ve delicioso!!
xoxo
Hello Olga, I am Polish so Pierogi are in my life but was that pepper (a lot) you added to the onion? Your recipe does not say and the onions got so very dark in color I want to make sure what ingredient that was. I never would do that in mine so I want to make sure. They look wonderful and I love your methods. Thank you so very much. You are so sweet so cute and your grandmother must be proud. Thank you.
Ukrinische Warenyky (Pyrohy). Lecker 🤤
What did you add to the onions ? Is it pepper ? Looks delicious 😋
Well done!
+Marina dl
Why are your letters backwards?
Marina dl its the Russian language
Olga I need to make enough for 6 people ar Christmas. How many does this recipe make? There will be lots of other dishes. I figured everyone would have about 4-6 each max. Lots of other yummy food.
Great video...well done...thank you for sharing 🙏
Beautiful well done thank you another great recipe ❤️
PERFECT!!
Gorgeous!😀
I'm gonna tell my mum about this site, she'll love it.x
I love pierogi ❤️
If it’s Ukrainian dumplings it’s not called Pierogi (pierogi is Polish) it’s called verenki if it’s Ukrainian
In Western Ukraine, particularly in Carpathian Ruthenia and Galicia, the terms varenyky and pyrohy are used interchangeably to denote the same thing.
@@stthomasmore4811 Yes, I agree. My grandmother who passed at 100 yrs old taught me, a Canadian, how to make Pierogies. Her family was from Galicia and the Carpathian regions and fled during the Bolshevik. Either way is correct.
Yeeess, thank you VARENYKU!!!
@@stthomasmore4811 are you in the Ukraine per chance?
@@bonniedaves9580 If I were I definitely wouldn't call it "The Ukraine" because Ukrainians will chew you out hard. Using "the" in front of "Ukraine" indicates sympathy with Soviet Russians who renamed it to denote a mere region/territory of the U.S.S.R., rather than as a proud independent nation.
I tried these yesterday - they are almost as adorable as you!)))
I'm Mexican. Delicious, congratulations.
Very nice mm.
best looking perogies I have ever seen.
Only think I would add is GARLIC looks sooo good though
If you wore a babushka and had a mustache , you'd look just like my Czech grandma ( Buba) Still I like to marry You !!!
Wow! Best how+to video on these
I miss my Ukrainiane Nana!!!
👍❤️
Congatulations my dear, Olga!
Good job!

Every Sunday lunch the family would smash the perogi- I miss my grandma :(
That reminds me of when I was a kid.
The water is cold or warm or hot ??
Ooo I love this recipe
Wow!
Big dumoling, yummy!!
I like to saute my onions until they are transperent but I should saute them untill they carmelize like yours.
These are called "Wareniki" where I come from.
How much cups is 400 grams of flour? And how many cups is 100 grams of oil? I don’t have a scale.
My mother always put sour cream when doing dough 🇺🇦 be safe
Baba always said, boiled in water is the traditional way . :D
Watching this war on the news makes me hungry for Russian and Ukraine food
very nice
Gorgeous, AND a great cook!!!!!!
+Keith Gardner thanks
Klassno. Pliz pobolshe nam vashix receptov na anglizkom. Makaroni po flotskiy toje jdyom po anglizki
Aren't pierogi a Polish dish? I think in Ukraine they have something else called vareniki or sth
Pierogi and vareniki r the same. To be honest, in Galicia, west Ukraine, we call this pyrohy (very similar to pierogi).
We are all one BIG family when it comes to food
you are correct. I always wondered how it was spelled. over the years my family bastardized it to pettahy. but, I can see how it would be mistaken. Thanks!
perohy is the Ukrainian spelling
wow....can i buy one online? send me if you can
Nice to see some one doing it the right way, not like all the crap we have been throwing down our throats
Hi how many ml or grams are in a cup of water for your recipe? Thanking you
250 ml
Yes !
Do the dough and the filling have to be cooled?
no
Can you make me some and I’ll buy them?
So no filling inside the potatoes, no cheese or anything?
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!
PIEROGI not pierogies, is wrong, loose s on the end PIEROGI, there is not such word pierogeis only PIEROGI. PIEROGI means is many of them, PIEROGI !!!! my tummy I turning up side down when I hear pierogies !!!! PIEROGI !!!!!
How many min I boil them at the end ? Before they done? Sorry I am an idiot man I know I will miss it up so I want to know exactly! I am making this to my Ukrainian girlfriend to make her feel home lol ….. help
But its called "vareniki" back in Ukraine, isn't it?
Holubtsi next?
what was the black powder you mixed with the onion there's nothing black in the ingredients list
+CartB0X black pepper
Good and good looking too :)
Typical Polish pierogi are filled with cabbage and mushrooms or only mushrooms.
Wish values and measurements were displayed.
In the description box
mňam
My dad was Ukrainian, he called Perogies "Vera hay".
Is this correct?
Varenyky?
What flour?
+Monkey D Jerry just common flour
thanks
It's VARENIKY. And you even say "ukrainian" in the title!! You messed everything.
My baba was Ukrainian and called them perogies. It's the same difference.
@@allijack6069 Pierogi is polish. Many ukrainians lived under polish rule. Many used polish expressions, they had to speak polish because they lived in a polish state. My grandad came out of Ukraine with a polish passport and his surname uses polish spelling. But that does not make pierogi ukrainian. Pierogi = Polish / Vareniky = Ukrainian. Is it so hard to understand? GOD!
Fair enough. However I’ve been saying “pirogies” my entire life, and there are obviously many Ukrainians that do too. Polish and Ukrainians dishes are basically the same anyways, so I don’t see what there is to be mad about
+ABCcooking with Nataliya Mashika
Pirogies are not Ukrainian they are Polish. In Ukraine they have varenniki and in Russia peermeni. Many people in Canada thinks it’s Ukrainian to eat perogie. Get the term right it’s VARENNIKI
You gotta boil the perogies in the potato water for added starch and flavour.
Also you need way more butter on those perogies. Just my opinion.
i want some meat filling in them
Go wild , add any fillings you like !! Sweet , to savory , meat or vegetable !!??
what kind of cream is that sour cream or wipped cream
+unclefrankonap1953 sour cream
So... Empanadas de papa, basically.
Its Polish pierogi recepy!!! Ukrainians dont have pierogi in their tradytional kitchen.
Plural is Pierogi, not Pierogies. Also they're not even Pierogi if they're Ukrainian then they're Varenyky.
BABY NO ONIONS PLEASE VRATORIC HATES ONIONS
She’s missing the cheese and bacon in them baby’s
Oľga, will you marry me
