My late father in law fought fires set off by VoR locos. Two things he said stand out. First fire beaters became very floppy and ineffective very quickly, having the annoying effect of picking up burning material and throwing it over his shoulder, which was not helpful. He also had the experience of looking up and seeing fire leap across the tree tops above his head. Holding a floppy fire beater in hand while faced with that situation made fire fighting seem futile and quite dangerous!
Some very good filming locations and I particularly liked the sequence of the up and down trains just before Nantyronen (I think).

How long has the Beyer Garett been in service. I visited back in the 60s
