23:58 One of the reasons that helps explain this is that the Sudamericana is only the fourth most important tournament in Brazil. Brazilians value more the Libertadores, the league and the brazilian cup, since they are more difficult tournaments.
One interesting thing is that Cruzeiro and Racing are bigger and more traditional clubs than Atlético MG and Botafogo. So the Sudamericana final could be considered bigger than the Libertadores final this year. 😁
thats make no sense bro, botafogo is the club side santos give everthing to our national team; he couldn't be a winner institution, but, is by far, in cultural terms, the most proeminent club of the four
Hi! Racing fan here. A little correction, the last international title we won was the Supercopa Sudamericana 1988 and we have 6 international titles, not 1. Also, the 5 big teams in Argentina are: River, Boca, Racing, Independiente and San Lorenzo. We're the 3rd with most local leagues but we are lacking internationally.
Those guys have a wikipedia level knowledge. This is the 3 international final between Cruzeiro x Racing. Ps.: the Supercopa Libertadores was harder then the Libertadores itself
@@Ramondenner1991idk about harder than the Libertadores but it certainly was harder than the Sudamericana. Funny that we are equalized with Cruzeiro since Racing won in 1988 and Cruzeiro in 1992. Also Gustavo Costas, our current coach, was the captain of that 1988 Supercup title, and he's an absolute fan of the club like no other player. I hope and pray we win this and I wish I could go to Paraguay
It was Flamengo. Velez got crushed at home by 4-0 to Flamengo. Pedro scored a hat trick. This must be the best gringo podcast talking about South America.
-The last international title of Racing was in 1988, when they won the Supercopa Libertadores against Cruzeiro -The last international final disputed by Racing was in 1992, when they lost the supercopa Libertadores against Cruzeiro -This is the 3rd international final between Cruzeiro and Racing -Corinthians (15) and Athletico (17) are both fighting relegation in Brasileirão, Cruzeiro (8) is fighting for the top spots. Don't be fooled by racing's numbers, they played against more traditional teams, but teams that are not in their best RN.
So, a heads up as to why mineiro is 10th in the brasileirão. At one point due to injuries, and national teams callups, mineiro had 13 unavailable players. That decimated their campaign, so eventually they gave up on the brasileiro, fielding only reserves and decided to focus on the cups
My only correction is that you said Corinthians and Athletico Paranaense are better than Cruzeiro. That is simply not true. They are both struggling right now and fighting relegation in the league. Cruzeiro had a drop in form, yes, due to a number of factors. However, they have shown potential earlier in the season and, even in their current form, they are considerably better than both Athletico and Corinthians. If they can show a glimpse of that earlier form in the final, they can easily beat Racing (I don't really believe that is gonna happen, though. But still... just want to be fair).
Just want to add, that they have changed managers recently, which I think was a mistake for two reasons: The previous manager was overachieving, had to make changes in the squad because the new owner pressure him to start the new signings, the team dropped form because obviously it would, and he got sacked. The substitute is Fernando Diniz, who won the Libertadores last season, who is a manager with a very specific style of playing that takes a lot of work to start getting results. On the upside, there will be a pause due to international break that might give Diniz an opportunity to make the necessary adjustments and make the team play to its potential again.
The last time RACING reached an international final was in the 1992 Supercopa Libertadores, where they LOST to CRUZEIRO. And the last time RACING was an international champion was in the 1988 Supercopa Libertadores, where they WON CRUZEIRO. Interestingly, the Supercopa Libertadores was the secondary tournament in South America, just like the Copa Sulamericana is today. Racing and Cruzeiro will now face each other in the final of the 2024 Copa Sulamericana, the 3rd time that this final has been repeated in Conmebol tournaments. I hope Cruzeiro wins 😁 Vamos La Bestia!!! 🦊💙
Not unlucky at all, it was all incompetence from both sides They had plenty of luck as Botafogo did every single thing wrong, they were just really inferior as a team
@@Chonkey3567 against a completly alternative botafogo with 0 chemistry and 5 goals on their bag that went overseas just for formalities ofc peñarol will be better, but the team Botafogo compared to Peñarol is like Liverpool vs Derby County especially in economic terms
08:45 Questionable take. Atletico paranaense and Corinthians are struggling against relegation and haven't been playing shit lately. Cruzeiro has managed to secure its position as a midtable team in the brasileirão, plus they just chanfed coaches, so that's a factor affecting chemistry that only tends to get better. I don't think Racing is the favourite, it's honestly pretty even
The big 5 Teams in Argentina: Boca (6 Libertadores 2nd most in SA ) River ( 4 Libertadores) Independiente (7 libertadores MOST in SA and hated rival of Racing) Racing (1 Libertadores) San Lorenzo ( 1 Libertadores) Estudiantes is not considered a top 5 in Argentina but have 4 Libertadores.
Funny to think that Brazil. The country with 12 big clubs and the biggest World Cup winner. Didn’t have that much Libertadores or Copa America trophy. They need to discuss this part of history. We all know.
22:02 an even better name we are suggesting is instead of Copa Libertadores da América, to start calling it Copa Opressores da América. Greetings from Brazil PS: I also think Racing will win Copa Sudamericana though.
Dude they tried everything, the ref cancelled a clear penalty kick in favor of Atl Mineiro, but couldn't do anything about the other 3 goals. Botafogo on the other hand had to go to comenbol cause Penarol tried everything, as far as even telling the Uruguayan news that Botafogo attacked the supporters in Rio before the riot started, all BS, really did everything in their power to stop our supporters from going to the return match. Then during the match the ref cancelled a really clear penalty kick in favor of Botafogo and validated one of penarols goals which the striker was clearly offside. Dude the score would have been 2-2 maybe or even 1- 2 for Botafogo had they acted according to the rules. It was nuts! But 5 nil was too hard of a comeback dude they play dirty as fuck and still have the guts to say the comenbol favours Brazilian clubs lol...
Cruzeiro is winning guys, we’re winning this!!!!
Who’s that

It's not only about being difficult...brazilian league is harder than Libertadores, but brazilian league is less valuable for us
Cruzeiro will be more easily defeated than both Paranaense and Corinthians who are fighting against relegation? Sure, pal.
