Holy crap! This is the Guy Clark that played with Townes and Verlon right? I'm impressed. He's using standard woodworking tools to perform luthiery tasks. None of those prissy Stewmac doodads. Almost makes me think I could do it myself. Hell, I got wine. . . now where's that weed. . .
Using standard woodworking tools to massacre that guitar. 99.9% of everything done to that guitar in this video was done wrong, including the simplest step...putting strings on it. That's why it sounded like sh*t.
@@Skulllywag He did make some lovely guitars. Steve Earle, Lyle Lovette and Rodney Crowell own Guy Clark guitars. One was featured in Acoustic Guitar magazine.
@@PHJimY He may well have. What I'm referring to is THIS video...which shows a pretty crappy job, using the wrong tools for a guitar. A rat tail file for the frets? A less than straight nut made with a coping saw? String notches made using that same big-ass file? Not exactly a luthier in my book....
@@fleegerbriggs5694 ah man that sucks il have to find a copy of it because what ive seen on youtube is amazing i recently just got in to this kind of music a few months ago and i love it and enjoy learning and about artist
When you hear him playing, you have to remember he was a lutier, and made guitars. You watch him in this clip, and you're seeing an artist at work.
RIP Guy. Love your songs, man.
A lot of talent for one soul. Truly blessed!!!
He was so charming. Miss you Guy.
Es lo mejor que he visto estos ultimos 3 años
Guy: " You sure I never worked on this guitar?
Guitar owner: "You might have."
Guy:" Man thats exactly how I fix shit."
I can't believe how young Guy was in this tube.
Here on RUclips is an 83 Austin City Limits with Guy, John Prine, Verlon Thompson, Keith Skiles, and others.

@@Skulllywag You obvisouly know nothing about Guy and the instruments he worked on and owned
@@Theb4773ry So you mean I have to have met the man to know everything he did in the video was bull in a China store with that guitar? Interesting.

Does guy string it left handed at first when he says "that looks about right."?
Justin Martindale he most definitely did. I imagine he was talking to the camera and just lost track of what he was doing.
He said he was fucked up on wine & weed and didn't realize he'd strung it backward
He might have. He was know to get stoned.
lmao. Good catch! That's hilarious! I wasn't paying attention either.
Hahahahah hilarious.
JT was here 💜
Thats they way to file frets
I can't stop thinking about accidentally dropping a hot ash on the instrument !!
where is the from?

@@dylanwoodcock7425 No doubt. I'm glad these guys are not forgotten. The talent at Guy Clark's kitchen table that Christmas Eve was astounding.
