dont get fooled by the comments guys, this course can be EXTREMELY difficult for someone whos taking it with little or no previous computer science knowlege. You will literally fail the class if you don't study very very hard. And scoring a 5 on the ap comp sci exam is NOT AS EASY AS PEOPLE SAY IT IS! For the people that said it is easy to score a 5 on this exam is either a tryhard kid who studys everyday without sleeping and is telling you it is easy to get a 5 just to showoff to you that he is smart, or it could be a person thats just talented in computer science, or someone with a 150 iq. If you are a person who doesn't have prior coding and computer science knowleges and you decide to take this class, it's a guarantee fail if you don't study your ass off pretty much every single day

AP Computer Science Principles focuses less on the actual coding aspect, and more on the principles of what you’re doing. It wants you to learn how to be abstract, how to be creative and think differently, and how what your creating will effect the world. It will be known from the start of the class that all things related to technology have a benefit and harmful effect when used the way it was intended, and AP Computer Science Principles is basically “what can we create to make life easier and better on this planet”.

    • @SethuSenthil

If you want something relevant to actual coding then you shouldn't even be taking any computer science class in school. The Curriculum is outdated af. You're better off here, on RUclips. The only reason why you should be taking APCS is caus you want to actual compsci in the future and you should only be taking CSP if you want an easy AP for your GPA (keep in mind some colleges don't accept CSP).

I'm gonna be honest, I kinda agree with him because our AP CSP class learned Javascript without even learning the meaning behind it. AP CSA gives you a real programming experience because you actually learn how to use Java properly and you learn the details behind the codes. but I'd still recommend taking AP CSP so you actually know what you're doing in AP CSA.

AP CSP is a foundational course in learning the building blocks and components of comp sci. If you have never coded before or don’t have an understanding of say, what a for loop does computationally or what logic gates are, this is a good course to help you learn that knowledge and understand those concepts so you can dive into a harder course like CSA and excel.

I'm a freshman and I'm just about finished with AP US Government. I can tell you the workload for AP classes is a lot more than usual, and you will have to study and take many tests and a final exam, but if you're taking this class for an easy A in an AP class I'd suggest it. From what I've heard, this class is very easy, but if you actually want to learn coding, take AP Computer Science A, instead.
