W&B chopping straw

March 16, 2023 - chopping straw for cattle bedding by contractor W&B Denekamp:
- John Deere 8345R tractor with Haybuster H-1130 tub grinder.
- Weidemann CX 4070 wheel loader with bucket.
- The chopped straw is mixed with lime to get good cattle bedding.

What is the purpose to chop straw?

it might be, but i ts more likely they are mixing in some straw in the tmr mixes they use to feed the cows-bulls that arent milking.
by chopping the straw, and mix it with say alfalfa-corn silage-hay,,, it makes it difficult for the cows to say sort out the straw. 😏
