You're by far the best teacher on youtube. I rarely see this kind of dedication and attention to the details, and it's your dedication to the lessons that puts your channel in a league of it's own. Thank you a lot Carl! :)
I never took guitar lessons. So it sounds pretty hard really. Once you've mastered the rhythm pattern, it's just power chords. You've taken a metal beast and broken it down into easy bite size chunks. So good man. What a great teacher
the intro definitely isn't a 'free time thing'. it's in 4/4, the first note is a pick-up note, and the second and third are 8th notes, starting a new bar. the rests are kinda tricky (lots of hard to count dotted quavers), but it sounds a lot better once you learn to count the whole thing in - lots of drum tabs/sheet music out there that notate it right that you can still use for guitar
Every video you do Carl is the best . By the way im loving your live content too . Thanks for giving things to fans across the board .eg.. to the lucky in life to the unlucky in life . (Free content lessons and live feeds ) thanks Carl .🤘🤘🤘👊👊👊👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎼🎵🎶
I have learned alot of MetallicA songs, but this one is the one I have almost perfected. Only the solo is what stands between me, and playing this song perfect. I love the groove of this song.
I've known the parts for 90% of this song for about 25 years. The official transcript misses a few things and it's hard to make out some parts in the layers of the recording. Now I can finally fill in the gaps and nail it. Thank you! 😃 😘 lots of love 😊
Hi Carl, Just wanted to thank you for all your guitar lessons, I love Metallica and I´ve learned a lot of their songs thanks to you. Thank you man. You´re a great teacher. Greetings from Argentina
I love both Hetfield and Mustaine as rhythm players for different reasons. I love that James kept it a bit more simple and just got in these really crunchy grooves while I like Dave for how intricate and interesting his rythem was. Different approaches but each great in their own right. I'm currently messing around with Lucretia and that song has some complex and interesting parts. I really like that part before the solo where Dave is basically climbing up and down the ladder as i like to call it.
In the the last strokes of the continious full play of the intro you play straight linear strokes, but it's a ritenuto/triplet: "ta-ta-ta-taaaa". Or muted-muted-muted-open powerchord. Furthermore a very good breakdown, no hate!
Man I’m 49 been playing since 9 and I’m just now finally putting in, depending on the day, at least 2-3 to 4 hours learning and practicing and I’m so beyond hyped to try and learn to play this lead, it’s just amazing to me to be able to work on each part and then try and play it all together. It’s also given me a million times more respect for Kirk and Dave N. and Dimebag. I would say my all time favorite 3 and the order is in the order that I heard them. Kirk and Metallica early mid 80’s Dave and Jane’s Addiction later 80’s then Dimebag and Pantera all through the 90’s..I’m so stoked to really put in the hours I should have put in during my youth but my pops didn’t like the guitar playing, thankfully mom supported it. Thanks Mom
Great lesson as always, however, Would love to see you finish the unforgiven trilogy by doing unforgiven III. But if not, would love to see damage inc. Or Breadfan (metallica version).
Never clicked on a video that fast! And here are some suggestions for the future lessons \m/ The Hellion / Electric Eye, Painkiller, The Sentinel - Judas Priest Fight Fire With Fire, Motorbreath - Metallica
Here's a guy I learned a LOT of rhythm guitar parts of the songs. ruclips.net/video/FbDBqMxw8iI/видео.html He's awesome, totally underrated, he has full guides for the song you are looking for. And he's mostly oriented around Metallica, Megadeth,Slayer and few other thrash bands.
2:40 intro riff
4:41 precise main riff
7:22 melodic hetfield riffs
10:52 verse
13:33 pre chorus

17:10 interlude chords/rhythm
18:10 precise rhythm under solo
21:30 interlude

25:25 outro

A fun song to play. These lessons will stay relevant! Thanks to the Carl
Just came to timestamp it. Thanks for doing the work for me 😆
@Khari Zeke get outta here, don’t try to scam the 365 community, we know better than that
Rumor has it that James and Kirk watch Carl's videos when they have to relearn a song they haven't played in awhile.
🤣I doubt that
🤣🤣🤣 epic

Basically all of Metallica’s non-solos are like that lol
kirks best solo.been waiting over 20 years for this.thanks sooo much
I use my middle finger when doing the open E power chord. Much less hand movement required. Great video as always, thank you!
I’ve tried doing it that way but I’m so used to using my index finger that I just goof every time when going to the first fret power chord lmao

Dyer’s Eve! That’s what you should do.
Interesting thing, that’s my dad’s favourite song off AJFA.

Fuckin awesome, now do Frayed ENds of Sanity :D One of the best riffs ever written in history of music :D
Marko Becić couldn’t agree more. It’s a bitch to play though. There’s so many quick little subtleties that James throws in there

Whoppy week so far, playing/learning this song helped me going through these days sane. Thanks, Carl.
Without doubt the best guitar lessons I've ever seen online.

The more I learn Metallica songs, the more I appreciate James as a guitar player. Plus he sings above all of his playing.
