Love this idea! I use to work at an autism center and they had a room for snacks like this, and we would just go in there and grab our kids favorite snacks to use for the day as reinforcers or sometimes when our kids would do something awesome we’d take them into the snack room so they could pick out their own snack. Anyway, this reminded me of that lol but totally awesome room idea!!!!

Crystal, I absolutely love how you make food an enjoyable experience for all kids. It's like a love language to each of them. Food is like a security blanket for those who face any kind of trauma. I wouldn't mind hearing about what the kids experience is like with food. Only if they feel comfortable. I used to hoard food when I was in foster care for a few years before I went back to my parents. My foster parents were mean and limited us in food so much. I am 45 years old and still have food in my room. I feel territorial at times. It's just one of those things. It's also good to have different snacks in case one kid can't have a certain thing. I do love this idea of the snack room!
Crystal maybe you could hang wire baskets off a few of the stairs for snacks. Easy to see and reach for the younger kids and gives you more space to utilize. Congratulations on being nominated again! Going to vote right after I finish this video! Sending love from Wilsonville Oregon
Love your snack room. It is so nice to have everything in bins and easy access for the kids when are getting there lunches ready. It is also nice because you won’t have boxes are empty boxes all over the place you know exactly what you have and when it runs low you can see that & refill them.
Voted twice so far!! I happen to be a lunch lady in southern Ohio. Have been for 10 years now. Your school lunch cost is pretty much on with our district. Very little difference. $2.75 for elementary, $3.00 - $4.00 for JRH and HS. The older kids get several options so prices vary. Breakfast is $1.75.
Ya'll's utilization of space is great. I LOVE that you cater, to avoid tramatizing food issues. Plus the awareness of lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, etc... (Back in my day I was forced to eat whatever was put on the table. Then had to discreetly throw-up after being forced for example to drink milk. My folks didn't believe in milk allergies or much of any food issues.)
Our school district has free lunch for all students. The high school had a complete comfort food menu like Boston market style meals and the elementary my kids went to was basically a hotel continental breakfast 3/5 days and 1 pizza day and one yogurt and chilled peas day 😬. I let my kids pick when to eat school lunch vs taking a packed lunch
You could hang floating shelves on the back side of the steps going all the way up. The bottom have deeper shelves and as you go higher the become less deep so each shelf stops at the same spot in front. Extra room .
I grew up in a situation where there was very little food available. I remember so many times it being Wednesday and my mom not getting paid for another 2 days and eating stale crackers for dinner. I always loved going to school for the food there. Anyways, now as an adult, I have a big snack jar on my kitchen table full of my favorite snacks and I budget my money so that I can buy all my favorite foods. It's important to me because when I am low on food I feel very triggered and extremely anxious. I also made the realization that if I really want to love myself and treat myself kindly, it's best to also eat healthy foods and make sure I take care of myself. It's definitely a different relationship with food than the average person
You could put in a bench in the back under the stairs and put all the lunch boxes lined up there to store them. They won’t get lost and they always know where they are. Label the door “Snack Shack”

Love the snack room and yes, you should do a video of food trauma. I was adopted at 3 weeks old so I didn't experience any of that sort of thing. I had the best parents in the world. Blood is not thicker than water, love is.. :) I miss them both very much. I was very blessed. Ps. Back in my day we didn't have school meals like that lol I wish. We had hot dogs on Tues, dried out fish on Friday's, Cheesy burger Weds(yum) and Monday's I can't recall. We'll call it Mystery Monday's. lol
Soo cute!! Love the snack cabinet & how organized it is. A little trick you might like that helped me is putting smaller things like gold fish and pretzel peanut butters in a porable cereal container. I found it made it so much cleaner & easier. Plus they stay fresh longer. Love your videos.
I would love to see a food trauma video with Shelly would be very educational. To see which kid has what trauma if they want us to know. Also I love to eat cut up cucumbers with red wine vinegar, a little bit of salt, and lime juice. Its soo good
You definitely should do a video about food trauma. I’m a DCF SW and see it first hand. I don’t think this is a topic that is discussed enough. You guys do such a wonderful job with your children. Love your family 🥰

I grew up eating cucumber and sweet yellow onion in vinegar. Slice them thin and use white vinegar (to taste) and water, just to cover. Keep in a bowl in fridge for a tangy little treat. Great for cookouts, too.
Hey! In Sweden we have free school- lunches. In pre-school the kids have an obligatory fruit time in the morning, they also have free snack time in the afternoon, breakfast, and lunch for free. If the parents don't work the cost is free in preeschool but in ordinary school up to 6th grade parents can leave the kids early and they get breakfast befor school starts. Basically, everything is free, up to your 20 you get free school lunches. The first story you guys went to, we have just got it in Sweden. I didn't really knew what it was until I saw your video.
Hi, school lunch here in Tunisia is only available for university students and it costs 0,2dt which is approximatively 6 cents in the us (: Btw, I love your family 💕
Here in Portugal usually the cost of lunch in schools is slightly cheaper, but it depends on the level of the school allowance that the child has, if the child has level A lunch is free of charge, if they have level B they pay 0,73 cents (0,75 in dollar) and lastly if they have level C they pay 1,46 euros (1,49 in dollar). Love the little snack pantry that you created! Really good idea!
in england in primary school it depends you just pay every week for the weeks food and then in secondary and college and probably university you pay at the tills. So in secondary we had thumb prints where parents would put money on a data base and you pay through your thumb print. Then in my college you just pay at the counter with money or a card but sixth form they do the same as secondary.
Massachusetts just passed a thing that all kids in public schools get free lunch this year. They do not get anything fancy like a charcuterie box though lol. I think its awesome that you and aaron give your kids the freedom of choosing their own snacks and giving so many options!
@@melissascott7686 a lot of cities and towns only provided free breakfast and lunch to elementary. 9 years ago when i was in high school i had to pay for my lunch or i did not get to eat
In Australia public schools and most private schools do not have lunch service. Now a lot dont even have a canteen due to healthy food options and no packaging allowed if possible. I have four grandchildren in primary school and it does make it harder for parents because they have to make lunches, which my daughter loves to do anyways but when i was at school we always had a canteen for options. We also got milk and soup in primary school they dont do that anymore either. America has always offered lunches and i think that is great and would also help those kids who maybe dont get much food at home. When you read the prices out i was shocked because they are very cheap and that also helps the less fortunate and the families like yours that have several kids at school.
So I’m from uk and primary school lunches from nursery to year 2 is free ages 2/3-7 and then from year 3 to year 6 you have to pay but it’s really cheap like £2.50 or something then secondary age 11-16 you can get a main meal for £2.40 which includes the main, pudding and a drink .then you can get loads of snacks hot and cold for prices under £3 .
LOL I thought Bella made that crash at the beginning! Voted for you-good luck! Holy smokes Jake is tall! I love snacks and fruit! Glad you found a use for that weird shaped closet!
Amazon has lots of measurement charts that you could put inside a closet door and all the kids can get accurate height measurements, they are less than $10. It’s a neat way to keep track of how much they grow. Love you family and voted today for you guys! 💕

I've never heard of food trauma. Could you and Shelly make a video? You did a good job fixing things up for school lunches. Do you have the same setup for snacks in the pantry for while at home? Have a good day
Hi crazy pieces! i am watching from Philippines and i love how cute and loving your family are! Savannah you should try the cebu dried mangoes its on green packaging its absolutely perfect! and for the cucumber that is soaked in vinegar and salted you should try to put some pepper as well we called it ensaladang pipino its so yummy! 😊 i have voted for you on the parenting influencer! good luck and congratulations on being a nominee and hoping that you will be the awardee you deserved it!. sending love anna ♥️😘
Bella, I was always tall & hit my final height of 5’10” at age 14. When I was young it caused insecurity & I hated it but as I’ve gotten older I’ve learned it’s not a bad thing. Remember that tall girls can eat more and even gain more weight before it’s noticeable. My height got me into modeling and also made me great at basketball/softball. The only boys who care are insecure about their manhood. 5’6-5’7” is average so you’re not even tall but if you do end up being tall it’s not a bad thing.
When I was in school 4/5 years ago, the price was between 3 to 5 euros (French here) for the meal but like almost 70% was made from scratch fresh veggies and fruits etc ! For the cucumber in vinegar and salted that’s the typical way we’re eating it, most of us french ( well were I live) ! And this is sooo good !
This was a great video🙌 Where are your tall racks from the snacks are stored on? I like how they fold up. Did I miss ya grabbing them at Costco 🤪 They REALLY have a lot of space for storage. TFS
Just voted for you guys! I hope you get it! I’ve been watching your videos since the pandemic started and your positivity helped me through bad days. Love you to pieces!
In Puerto Rico lunch in schools are free. They also give breakfast. The only food you gotta take are snacks for snack break. 7am breakfast in most of the public schools 9am snack break 11:30am lunch 1:30pm snack break “some schools” don’t do snack on the afternoon. And your free to go home at 3pm
Our school lunches when I was in high school was $2.25 for regular, then $0.75 for reduced lunches, but kids could also get them for free if needed but you had to sign up for that. If you forgot your lunch money you were given a peanut butter and jelly with a slice of cheese on top (apparently they had to do this to meet dairy requirements), fruit, veggies, and a milk. In high school we had a typical menu plus a nacho bar, salad bar, and they served pizza every day. We also had a slushy machine. When I was in elementary one school had kinda really bad school lunches but the other school I went to would serve hard shell tacos, baked potatoes as a side, and really strived to feed kids decent meals.
Just voted. Crystal, Aaron, and the whole entire Pettit family is Awesome. And let's not forget about Joe, Aunt Bonnie, and grandma. You all make my day. ❤️

When you read the prices out i was shocked because they are very cheap and that also helps the less fortunate and the families like yours that have several kids at school.
I literally already voted for your family hope you win the award
They won last year
For what?
@@AZPA-dh6fb the award that they are wanting to win again this year

So I’m from uk and primary school lunches from nursery to year 2 is free ages 2/3-7 and then from year 3 to year 6 you have to pay but it’s really cheap like £2.50 or something then secondary age 11-16 you can get a main meal for £2.40 which includes the main, pudding and a drink .then you can get loads of snacks hot and cold for prices under £3 .
LOL I thought Bella made that crash at the beginning! Voted for you-good luck! Holy smokes Jake is tall! I love snacks and fruit! Glad you found a use for that weird shaped closet!
My favorite for the emergency kit was the shout wipes but also the little tooth brushed. Those always come in handy!! Thank you all for sharing!
Amazon has lots of measurement charts that you could put inside a closet door and all the kids can get accurate height measurements, they are less than $10. It’s a neat way to keep track of how much they grow. Love you family and voted today for you guys! 💕
I love your vlogs! Bella has came out of her shell so much ♥️
Beautiful family 🙂❤

I've never heard of food trauma. Could you and Shelly make a video? You did a good job fixing things up for school lunches. Do you have the same setup for snacks in the pantry for while at home? Have a good day
Quick question do any of your kids have allergies and if so how do you manage with making school lunches with the allergies they have?
Bella so sweet love her she has a good heart... love you crazy pieces ❤ ♥ I already voted for you.. ill go again..
Congratulations on your nomination again this year!!! You guys thoroughly deserve it.. thanks for inspiring everyone one of us in some way..
Yes I love your videos let's go they are aweaome
When I was in school 4/5 years ago, the price was between 3 to 5 euros (French here) for the meal but like almost 70% was made from scratch fresh veggies and fruits etc !
For the cucumber in vinegar and salted that’s the typical way we’re eating it, most of us french ( well were I live) ! And this is sooo good !
Hey Keep it crazy fam love you guys ❤️
I really like Hannah's makeup and she's always smiles 😃 it makes me smile too so thank you
This was a great video🙌 Where are your tall racks from the snacks are stored on? I like how they fold up. Did I miss ya grabbing them at Costco 🤪 They REALLY have a lot of space for storage. TFS
I’m 99% sure the racks came from At Home
Just voted for you guys! I hope you get it! I’ve been watching your videos since the pandemic started and your positivity helped me through bad days. Love you to pieces!
ohhh Harry Potter closet nice !
congratulations on being nominated !
In Puerto Rico lunch in schools are free. They also give breakfast. The only food you gotta take are snacks for snack break.
7am breakfast in most of the public schools
9am snack break
11:30am lunch
1:30pm snack break “some schools” don’t do snack on the afternoon.
And your free to go home at 3pm
Love the snack room under the stairs, but where is Joe's room now lol.
POV: who loves watching the crazy pieces!🫶💖
Just voted. Crystal, Aaron, and the whole entire Pettit family is Awesome. And let's not forget about Joe, Aunt Bonnie, and grandma. You all make my day. ❤️
