Check with your lab that they scan/print half-frame negs -- developing is standard, no difference, but scanning and printing are definitely a little different. The Darkroom has a check box (and fee) for handling half-frame film.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for explaining the loading!! I think I might have exposed my whole roll because I didn’t know I needed go put it in the little slit so I had to open it up and re close it!! Fingers crossed I didn’t lose anything
I have a very stupid question...I didn't realize I could shoot up to 72 shots...so I rolled it back...can re-use the film? if I roll it up to 40 shots?
I’ve just used this camera and when having it develops was told there was nothing there just blanks/negatives 😭😭😭 I never exposed it to light, it was correctly rolled and I followed the same instructions on above video. I’ve no idea what’s happened
I just got this camera yesterday and am loving the simplicity of it!! I was just wondering if anyone knows how to tell what the frame number is though.. I’m taking photos in pairs but worried that they won’t be on the same frame…. !
Test the shutter as shown in the video - ruclips.net/video/dUW2xgZG7XI/видео.htmlsi=_SNau2t8y79cYZLB&t=62 - if the shutter works, you're camera works. - Mike
Heya, I've taken about 50/72 pics on the camera and it just stopped working, the shutter button doesnt click when I press it. Can you offer any advice?
as there is two shots for 1 essentially , do you click once for the first shot and then click again without rolling the wheel for the second or do you need to roll the wheel for each shot?
@@FilmPhotographyProject Thanks for the quick reply but do you have to roll each time before each shot or do you click the button twice for the first two?
I accidentally dropped mine mid roll and it opened up, effectively resetting the count. I have no idea which frame I was on. How will I know when to stop without going past the maximum?
It’s kind of not. The nice thing I think is that you’re able to choose your film since most disposables are 400 ISO. But tbh I don’t anticipate this plastic thing lasting that long even though it is “reusable”
i dropped my camera a little but everything seems normal except that after winding completely and I press down the button , it does not want to take the picture
One question to ask. Is it okay if we let the film in the camera if we wanted to shoot for sometimes for example: i wanna shoot some stuff today and tomorrow i think I don’t want to shoot anything and maybe next week i want to shoot some stuff(with the same film) or do we need to finish the film and shoot one at a time?
@@eatingbaconnieyour question is old, but let me answe it: let it stay. If you remove it before finishing, light will ruin the film. Once you finish (you'll notice because the rolling mechanism will stop and won't let you roll further), you have to roll back the film completely before taking it out. Battery is only used for the flash, you can take pictures without it, too, and you don't need to take out if you let your camera rest. If you don't use it for months or years, it's advisable to remove the battery so you can prevent leakage in the long run.
I dropped the camera before using it for the first time, so I wanted to know what is the purpose of the top gear? For me it turns freely and does not trigger anything. Moreover, when I trigger a photo without film as in the beginning of the video, is it normal for the counter to remain on S?
@@saab3934 I was afraid that this is the one used for the counter, but in the end no! Basically it should turn freely, I took a 36 film with it and I didn't encounter any problems, everything was working fine. Just make sure the opening is going well, spin the lower wheel until you hear a click then face the light, take a picture without film and with the lid open, if you see the opening happening I think you have nothing to fear, your device is functional!
but how do you compose? i.e. how to know which part of what you see in the Viewfinder will come on which half of a frame? Also, what happens when I switch from horizontal to vertical composition?
kodak needs to make an slr type 35mm camera with the simplicity of the cartridge models. if they do, i will be the first one to buy one.i am sure that they will have full acceptance from the public.
If you already have a Pen yeah there's not much draw here, but in its defense it's a nice cheap and more importantly readily available alternative. Sometimes just trying to find a Pen that is cost effective or at least not ragged can be a chore. The plastic lens is middle of the road but I've already seen some great shots with it so film choice and lighting will help fill the gap of the lackluster options and settings. Would certainly advise sticking to the popular "diptych" dual photo look that's in vogue, then you're not battling the half resolution.
So you went to the trouble of creating this video and you didn't think to include some photos showing what those half frames would look like? I know you displayed three measly images of a lake and a tree. How about something comprehensive instead of half-ass from a half-frame camera.
Check with your lab that they scan/print half-frame negs -- developing is standard, no difference, but scanning and printing are definitely a little different. The Darkroom has a check box (and fee) for handling half-frame film.
Very good point! I just checked that and you are 100% correct - it's an extra £2.00 here in the UK

I think you will have exposed anything that was out of the film casing but hopefully you realised quickly enough that only a few frames had been shot
Just bought it and is working perfectly with the first roll, I hope the photos came out good:(
How do you know on which shot you are on? It doesn't really have all the numbers.
if you are between two numbers - the number of that shot is the number between those numbers
thank you sir. even on the Ektar instructions pdf they dont mentioned the slit for the film load in or the little release button of death. thank you!
You sold me ... ordered one ... I do have some Soviet half frames, so it's more a combo of fun and GAS!!! I also want to keep film alive!!!
Wonderful, detailed video going over all the little important steps. Thank you!
I just got mine yesterday. Running my test roll right now. Can't wait to see what I get :)
how is it?
1:20 that’s very helpful thank you
the build quality reminds me of the old Kodak Hawkeye
glad they bringing back halffames
Those wonderful guys at Needfilmdeveloped scan half frame at no additional charge. It's the best deal in town!
Any ideas as to why my counter just stays on S?
im having the same problem
I have a very stupid question...I didn't realize I could shoot up to 72 shots...so I rolled it back...can re-use the film? if I roll it up to 40 shots?
"Big Gorilla Man" -- either the name of your next film stock *OR* my new band!!!!
Huh, I'm surprised they don't have a King Kong or Big Foot film yet!
@@Exxcalibur186 "Sasquatch" -- the perfect film for getting those pictures of elusive cryptids!!!!

Question: Do I need to wind the reel after each shot or is it two consecutive shots and then I advance the reel?
You advance the film to the next shot after you take each picture.
What a beauty! :) thank you for your video. Mine just arrived yesterday 😁 can‘t wait too shoot it!
Fun camera! I’ll have to order one for an upcoming trip to New Orleans

Thank you! I should have watched your video first to avoid simple mistakes!
Hi! I just got my camera. I loaded the film but the number is not showing. Do you know what should i do?
I just got this camera yesterday and am loving the simplicity of it!! I was just wondering if anyone knows how to tell what the frame number is though.. I’m taking photos in pairs but worried that they won’t be on the same frame…. !
Divide number of photos taken by 2. If you get an odd number, then you have only shot half a frame of your last frame.
I have been looking for a lot of videos, why no one mention about the number of shot left??? So confusing. Idk how to read the numbers
Number of shots is based on what exposure # film you use. Film usually comes in 24 or 36 exposure rolls. On the camera, there is a frame counter.
mine doesn’t make a shutter noise when i take a photo it simply makes like a spring noise, does that mean it isn’t loaded correctly or it’s broken?

One half frame shot per click. 72 images per 36 exp roll.

Advance gently. When you can no longer advance, it's the end. (Don't force it or the film will come off the spool)
My gosh, love this idea, but it sure doesn’t seem much better than a disposable camera.

All of my photos from this camera came back with red and green lines on the bottom. Have you guys experienced this at all?
What film would you recommend for this camera?
*turns the camera vertically to take an horizontal shot*
The design of the black one is equal to the Instamatik 133.

There's no need to shoot the entire roll at one time. Take your time.

I accidentally pressed the small button in the bottom is this going to mess up the film at all?
When you advance your film to the next frame, it will pop back up. No worries.

Does this camera turn on and off?
Sadly here in Mexico I can't buy 35 mm rolls
They are so expensive and they have expired some years ago 😄
I’m using a Kodak 400iso ultra max colourplus for the camera. Will this overexpose my photos?
It might. - Mike
imm a total newbie so whats the difference between a kodak ULTRA F9 aside from the half frame?
Not to much of a difference - there are a few videos about the F9 on RUclips.
Does the film convert to digital?
Once you shoot your film, it has to be developed. Once developed it can ve printed or scanned. We recommend thedarkroom.com

Great design. Would be great if it were bakelite! Ha

Why is counter on top is not moving and always S? Does it mean those I captured was not "recorded"?
If the film counter is not moving - your film may not be loaded properly. Follow the steps to test as described in the video.
