    The key cap for the top of the lower joint is to help the clarinet maintain key and pad alignment by keeping the key closed/pressed while it's in the case. I don't know of any other manufacturer that makes these.

    I have the same one! It plays really nice and I just love it! I have my own custom mouthpiece and the vandoren optimum ligature. I really feel like my clarinet is "the perfect fit" for me at the moment!

    I've never once seen a New Instrument box like this, very surreal. (Probably would help if I ever bought new instruments, hah)

      I was the same. I've always bought second hand instruments so I never had a new box of an instrument. That was until I bought my latest flute and now this clarinet. :)

    Lovely clarinet, but I’d recommend you getting either weaker reeds or blowing harder xx

    What a great idea -- a video about carefully opening the package of a nice new well-packaged product. It hypnotized me! And it's great for any parent considering buying a new clarinet for their son or daughter.

    uebel advantage, Yamaha 650, buffet e13, selmer prologue and amadi maestro - pretty much all the usual suspects at this level. im interested to know what you thought of your hanson SE and why you decided not to go with a Hanson T5 or T6 instead of the buffet ? Also, id love to chat to you about your comparison thoughts on these models you tested. Cheers mate.

    • @MohawkGaymer
      @MohawkGaymer  6 лет назад +3

      I decided against the Hansons this time because the keywork wasn't friendly to my fingers. When testing out the other models, I looked for tone, feel under my fingers, quick response, and how easy it was to get out the higher notes without strain or going out of tune.

    I've never seen the E13 in the US. Only E11 & E12. Is this comparable to the E12?

    I'm saving up for this clarinet. I was going to get the version with the soft gig bag, because it's a bit cheaper, but seeing the hard case in your video changed my mind. It looks beautiful and it will definitely protect the clarinet better. Do you still play the E13? Are you happy with it?

      Student models are plastic and don’t match the tone of wooden clarinets.

      @@Brave_Aviator This is a really wooden one. Only Buffet B12 and Prodige are plastic. This E13 is made of Grenadille (African blackwood) and sound much better than lower class study clarinets. Offered for conservatoria usage.

    Nice clarinet, but is there a reason you didn't go with another Hanson. Looking to upgrade mine and was set on a T5

    • @MohawkGaymer
      @MohawkGaymer  7 лет назад

      Hanson is good, but the keywork wasn't entirely working for me. I couldn't play fast passages cleanly enough. With all the brands I tried Buffet had the best hand placement and keywork for me. It's different for everyone. :)

  • @lisanicholas3960
    @lisanicholas3960 5 лет назад

    @Mohawk, you didn't video yourself assembling the clarinet for the first time. Did you have any trouble with really, tight joints as in so-tight-you-could-barely-get-together-within-5-mm-and-then-le-sad-could-not-get-apart-again? I had to take mine to the tech shop, which makes me the saddest new owner of a Buffet E13 :-(. Have others had this issue?

    • @oddcat6491
      @oddcat6491 3 года назад

      yes, I managed to get mine to fit together but, I was really worried about the keys getting damaged

    The cap on the lower joint may be to prevent shrinkage in dry/cold weather

      @MohawkGaymer  7 лет назад

      +Account Removed, The R13 is a bit expensive. It's all down to your budget and what you can afford. If you can afford it, then great. I got a more upper end intermediate (E13) clarinet.

    • @thepopcornman68
      @thepopcornman68 7 лет назад

      R13 is better, it's right behind the Tosca clarinet. E13 is shitty, even a Yomaha clarinet is better than that shit

      Good air support and proper maintinence will make a good player sound amazing on an E13 and its a great student instrument
