Slowing down the video helps to see how it's done. The trick is that the left and right hand thumb/index fingers loop the lace in OPPOSITE directions. Right hand: the lace runs from Pinky to over the thumb, THEN over the index finger, down to the shoe. Left hand: the lace runs from the Pinky to over the index finger, THEN over the thumb, down to the shoe. Then each hand grabs the top lace in the opposite hand and pulls.
