I feel like the negative split 50 back is pretty common for backstrokers that gravitate to both 100/200. First 25 even though you have your start (which you already said isn’t as significant for back) the split is to your feet, so then coming back even if you don’t have a dive you’re going to your hand. Couple that with someone who’s not a pure sprinter and you get a negative split.
Just an opinion from an old washed up backstroker (who negative split many races, even 100s 😂)

Why are some USA swimmers swimming under NAT CODE CLB instead of USA?

It’s because they were entered under their club team (not uncommon for meets like the Pro Swim Series) but it ends up also determining their nationality for some reason and marks it as “club”
I hope that system gets changed or everyone gets manually switched to their actual nationality because it looks kind of silly on the broadcast since it also determines some of the graphics on screen.
