Yeah I agree I got the sport as my first crawler and I ended up selling it after I got my scx10ii. I sold it because now I want a regular trx4 with the two speed and all the goodies lol.
The Traxxas Bronco and Defender are all you need. The Sport is just a gimmick in my opinion. Why spend $340 on a stripped down TRX-4 when for $100 more you get the whole pie? Also, I've spent $500 plus on upgrades for my Defender. Brass, aluminum, you name it. My stock Bronco goes EVERYWHERE the Defender can. I now think most upgrades are crap and a waist of money! They just make you think the truck is better. Lights are the best upgrade I think...
Personally I love my original trx. I had an axial bomber before the trx4, and axial deadbolt before that. Those were both great AFTER quite a bit of modding. With both of them I felt the plastic links were the weakest part, followed by needing different tires (and wheels since they're glue on). Also the open electronics always bugged me so I spent quite a bit of time making inner fenders for the deadbolt. They're great for sure, but not out of the box great. My trx on the other hand was incredible right from the get go. Literally all mods I did for the first few months were purely cosmetic. I did get a faster servo eventually, and new metal beadlocks and some proline hyrax tires, and a set of skid plates, but that was just because I was loving the truck and wanted to buy stuff for it lol. If the locking diffs servo goes out I won't care to fix it, I'll just leave them locked full time. The two speed however I LOVE. It makes the truck a blast, and honestly it's pretty realistic. When actually trailing my full size Jeep's (I've had two Cherokees and a Wrangler), sometimes you just gotta give it a little wheel speed to get through stuff. With a single speed trail rig rc you never have that unless you wanna burn up motors and have short runs times. The trx let's ya have the best of both worlds right out of the box. And an axial scx10 can be made to have a two speed, but not for the same price as an rtr trx4. I think for $450 it's an excellent package!
thing is the kit only gives you flexibility on the body, wheels and motor, it's essentially still identical to the TRX4. I thinking my TRX4 with a body change is going to rocking well. I've the castle crawler combo to go back in over winter and with that the level of control is just crazy, like mm by mm control.
Driftomaniacs I’m looking forward to you doing a video of the crawler combo. Trying to figure out what motor esc combo to put in my kit. Leaving my defender mostly stock. What steering servo are you running and do you have bec?

Great info. I've got both. The sport is also the shorter wheel base. The factory just switched the shock towers left to right and uses the extra part that also comes with the defender. That's the SWB body mount that I couldn't figure out what it was when I got the defender. I'm still relatively new to the hobby.
I have a trx4 sport, for 6 years. I added brass parts, and i also put in the 2 speed , wheels, shocks, body. Its a very capable rig and it competes with the og trx4. I like it because it has less servos to fail , and i dont mind my diffs being locked all the time. I havent run into any issues with the shorter wheel base and no diff lock feature. I also pull my kid in a wagon around the yard through grass, you cant beat it!!
@@SethSeth-ci5ky in my opinion the weak points on the trx4 is the input gear , it seems to be the only part ive broken/ stripped since i have added more power with a brushless, only because the stock brushed motor kept burning up so i decided to just upgrade my system. Good point steve one also to consider is the SCx10 builders kit. Good to see someone do a side by side build. I'm going to change the body on mine and shift the battery to being front mounted.

I think the price difference is in favor of the defender with all this equipment. the sport is lighter and less well balanced I think🤔. but I do not regret my choice😁, because for a hundred euro🤑 upgrade the sport has become better to climb👍👍. What I like about the sport is its simplicity, diff blocked, for crawling no need diff😲😂😂, a pure franchiser😎. this is just my novice opinion.😅✌✌
the sport is a great choice, I've seen Chris take his up places you'd think it had no right to be. Simple is sometimes better
Trx4 sport because that what i have
Very informative I thought they had a different width in the axles but turns out I'm misinformed
joel lofquist the bronco hs a shorter wheelbase than the defender/tactical rtr. Also I hear in the kit you build you have 4 different lengths of suspension links to make the wheelbase longer or shorter
I have all 3 side by side. The bronco is just shorter in wheelbase. Maybe 1/16”
Oh the bronco frame is made different in the front. More flat frame rails than at angle. Easier to put a small battery on
ztwntyn8 hmmm I’m not very familiar with crawlers as I’m just trying to get into them I’ve got a slash 4x4 rustler 2wd 4tec and xo-1 and I’m trying to diversify my collection a little more looking at a China clone of the scx10 to tow my 4tec around and do a little crawling with but like I said I’m not sure where to start
THX bro!
Performance=sport scale look = Defender in between = Bronco
good vid.
Great video, really helpful!
Do like me. Buy the Defender and the Bronco. Then buy a Sport body!
Love it!
Brian of Texas! I have bronco it’s a blast
Very nice comparison mate, think am liking the sport , thanks for sharing and thanks for the Sub my friend 👍 great video 👍
Liking your how to videos Tony, the flow of them works well for me. Having done a few I can appreciate the effort they take to do.
Well you are doing a fantastic Job my friend, I'll be checking your other videos out, 👍😁👍
Want a trx4 sport but only have a trx4, get new body mounts, buy new body, put in high gear, and lock difs. Bam trx4 sport
NC MOUNTAINS ❤. 👌!!! 👍👍....
I would get both lol! 👍👍👍👍
All the comments here tell me I should consider getting the two speed since I have the sport 😂
Upgrade your audio quality
just too funny! I've spent over $500 on new mics in past 12 months. I said I wouldn't spend a penny more at $300. THE BUCK STOPS HERE! just given up caring, I could spend $500 on a single mic and it wouldn't alter the fact that people don't think about their internet/mobile connection. You do know that if you have a poor connection youtube downgrades your image/sound quality? But you knew that right? Google it when you get better reception
@@DriftomaniacsRC just ignore him bro..your video superbb, peace from malaysia😊✌️
All I'll say, is the trx4 sport kit, is amazing. I'm not interested in operating a two speed, or diffs, or anything..I just want to crawl...and this thing is a billy goat, and tough as nails. Check out any of my TRXellence series, latest one volume 6 ruclips.net/video/SDJtIzW3rpo/видео.html

Trx4 sport has less to break
Indeed that's one benefit I have to say, as my TRX4 gearbox has rusted in gear twice, although that's down to me...but I know what you mean

The defenders are ugly as hell and too long, used to be the ugliest crawler there was but traxxas one upped themselves with that ugly G wagon.
