I've just finished one game of Silent Hill 2 (ending 1/4) and to be honest the people who complain are either looking into it too much or are blinded by nostalgia. To me, both versions look great in their own way.
Pal, no one is complaining on this version, but the early one was action garbage. What I see on the comments constantly is people unaware of the history regarding the development of this game, thinking that the controversy was all about this version in particular. There is nothing to complain because they heard and acted upon it, but the announced originals were pretty bad.
I find it interesting that Bloober is playing 2001 SH2 on some type of emulation, versus original hardware. Those texture flashes in the cutscene depicted are not present on the original disc version. I know this because I am currently playing through an original 2001 Silent Hill 2 PS2 disc, on original PS2 hardware, and just recently got past that same point in the game actually haha. I think this is my 9th time playing thru it overall. However, I do LOVE what they have done with that Laura cutscene and the Fresh Lips boss battle.
@@cybertruckeralpha Evil polaks use emulation to make the game have an extra miniscule graphics glitch in one video so their game next to it looks better. The same video that pretty mutch praises the original game constantly. Totally a sane and not deranged observation.
Nice little idea on expanding the boss battle I must admit. though, there is something to still be said for the original atmosphere of the game... it hits different...
Look, the original is my favorite game of all time, but I’m not going to pretend like the boss battles are some sort of masterwork. Every boss fight in the original boils down to running into a corner, shooting the boss, and then running to the next corner when they get too close. Rinse and repeat.
You make it more “cinematic” and somehow that improves the execution of a video game. That’s the only major difference outside of the combat which I can understand mainly because the stylish and rudimentary tank controls are very much cursed gameplay designs.
The boss battle is designed differently than the original. Instead of fighting multiple flesh lips that move around and attack you from the ceiling. There instead is just only one who adapts and evolves as you attack it.
This is another level, the real goal of a remake, to enhance the original experience, giving more details and innovating to explode all the potential of the creature and environment design, which was not possible in 2001

The difference is that in the OG, many fights took place in unexpected and even inappropriate locations, while in the remake, everything feels artificially staged. I don’t think it turned out bad, I just prefer the claustrophobic atmosphere of the OG, and the background sounds are much more unsettling as well.
Well, one can say that the OG Silent Hill influence always felt orchestrated and artificially staged by the town. It's actually mentioned as a cool feat in many discussions. Sometimes it even feels like the town is an entity laughing at you and making you do stuff just to play with you or get you from one place to the other. Take for example the puzzles, neither of them feel natural or regular, they feel super staged and prepared to toy with James, being that getting items in odd locations via rather specific steps. It's ok to feel stuff is staged, because it actually is. :)
@@alucius5874 My issue is specifically with the execution. I’m not debating whether James's journey is orchestrated or not. The art direction in the Bloober remake feels more Hollywood and less unsettling than the original; it reminds me more of a blockbuster than a David Lynch film, at least to me. The same goes for the new fight with PH, which now takes place in a much more “produced” and spacious setting, filled with deliberately placed objects as combat mechanics. In contrast, the original featured a completely cramped and oddly unconventional location for that type of confrontation. Additionally, the post-fight scene in the remake is more exaggerated, with PH simply bursting through the door like a brute. In the original, he bizarrely descended the stairs until he was completely submerged in water and disappeared, leaving you with no choice but to follow him.

This!! and DBZ Sparking Zero! October 2024 is a great time to be alive
This hasn't convinced me that Bloober Team are capable of delivering in a way that matters.
At the end of the day Bloober gave us 'The Medium', which is the only game thats ever given me slight Silent Hill vibes in modern gaming. So for Konami to team up with them makes complete sense and i'm sure they'll deliver 👊
Amazing ❤
Fantastic! I Loved!!
They are leveraging the way games are made today to improve the boss fights.
That's dope. Great addition. Love shooting it down and smashing the cage.
So the thing has robot arms now and the room ist big, bright and empty😂
