Background for the "2022 JCHS Box Film Festival":
The "Box" as a central prop in the JCHS Film studio's spring semester films originated with a shout-out to the Jasper County High School faculty for any "large boxes" with which to build a cardboard boat for the annual TSA (Technology Student Association) Fall Conference Armada Boat Race held in November 2022.
Almost immediately, 20 large boxes that had shipped new lab stools to the science department showed up at JCHS Film's door. Studio executive Tyson Harty, seeing the enormous potential of the plethora of prodigiously-sized boxes, turned none away . . .
The first (and arguably most fabulous) "box film" produced was "Boxy", which won first place at the inaugural Georgia 2021 TSA Film Contest at Jekyll Island. WATCH "Boxy" at • Boxy
After that, the ideas and the momentum for "box films" kept growing until our end-of-the-year "Box Film Festival" had 20 short films.
The "box" motif was indeed interesting and perhaps having a yearly theme will continue, but it will not be boxes. All the boxes were ceremoniously burned at the Box Bonfire . . . only "Boxy" remains as a symbol of the 2021-22 JCHS Film program.
