When I listen to this track, I always imagine a rapidly flashing montage of footage from impressive/terrifying moments in human history. The space race; the holocaust; the discovery of penicillin; the invention of the atomic bomb; the fall of the Berlin Wall... and on and on...
Damn I love the fast an precise timing on this song. Just so clean, pure and funky lol I love it. Only D. Boone, Mike Watt and George Hurley could come up with a song like this.
Listening to this reminds me that I saw both Gang of Four and Minutemen about the same time at Jimmy's in New Orleans. D's crunchy-jangly is textbook Go4.
THAT GUITAR SOUND... I love how the first thing that comes to my mind is the band the police came out after this right :-) can't get enough of that guitar sound
Starting with the affirmation of man I work myself backwards using cynicism (the time monitor, the space measurer) I live sweat but I dream light years I am the tide - the rise and the fall The reality soldier, the laugh child The one of the many, the flame child (the time monitor, the space measurer)

I wouldn't say ripped off, I'd say advanced. I mean that in the most respectful way possible, the world lost something great when D. Boon died and the minutemen became no more and I think it's nice that Fugazi were able to build the frantic nature of this music into their sound.
@@slimjim23 ugh never talk to punk fans, so self righteous. Sorry dude, D. Boon died and the band broke up they could have gone on but they didn't. Don't get butthurt because another band adopted their sound. I could just as easily say that Minutemen ripped off Captain Beefheart which by your standard would also be true, but I don't because I'm not some brain dead punk purist that thinks no two bands can sound similar or be influenced by one another without "ripping them off". I'm also curious as to how much of Fugazi's discography you've actually listened to. I mean if you think they made millions (they didn't and all live fairly modest lives) off using Minutemen's sound then you've not listened to really most of their music.

i think its kind of a conciousness stream on the dialectics of practical life and self-reflexion as an individual which is part of a socio-economic-historical context....I guess. And probably also something about evaluating opportunity chances. Thats my guess
Certainly the greatest bass lines ever composed on behalf of the working class
Erin you have a free beer & free blunt from this working classmate wherever you find him
Agreed my friend!
its kinda unreal how good this song is
one time I got stoned with buds in high school and it was also unreal how the outro seemed to be on an hour loop and it never got old
Mike Watt is one of the greatest punk rock bass players and I truly understand why he end up playing for Iggy and The Stooges.
That bassline
Yeah that's how pretty much all their songs are
I still love that this is the longest song on Double Nickels lmao
Actually that goes to Mr. Robot's Holy Orders lol
Goddamn, this album is fucking masterpiece.

Yep, all we can do is show as many people as possible. We can lead a horse to water, but we can't make them like badass music.

The 9 dislikes are from people who have absolutely no grasp or concept of music.
Nah.
They're just people with their own opinions and likes and dislikes. It's weird that people need to be reminded of this shit.
