I support the ban of short term rental. Unless you're the affected local residents, people usually don't under the pain of living next door with irresponsible, partying, rude spoiled brats who only see their staying is a short term adventure. However, it is a never ending nightmare for those who live in the same building.

How long is the maximum days of stay defined as "Short-term" rent? This problem can be solved by renting "Long-term" but minimum days of stay.

So glad that Penang decised to do this. There are way too many foreigners that are renting Airbnb, and disregard those others that lives in others units in the apartments. They will come and destroy the amenities and cause havoc. After they leave, we Penangites are left with their trash for us to pick up after them.

The number of occupants of rented units cannot be controlled by property owners. Activities carried out by the guests cannot be monitored by property owners. The nuisances caused by guests and suffered by neighbours can never be resolved or even bithered by prooeety owners.

Good news for some groups of ppl but tragic for others. As I know there r many retired old folks in Penang strongly rely on their Homestay rental income for saving and even medical expenses. Everyone know how ridiculously low the long term rental rates in Penang.
