European ship owners are sending their decommissioned boats and oil rigs to giant scrapyards in India to be dismantled. Registering them in a foreign country ahead of their last journey means owners bypass a European law that requires them to clean their vessels of toxic chemicals before they're demolished. The result is a dangerous environment both for workers and surrounding ecosystems. Our France 2 colleagues report, with FRANCE 24's James Vasina.

In 30-40 years these ship breaking yards will be moved to Africa or some other place as India develops into a more modern and wealthy nation its the way of things
You know it's bad, when you don't see any seagulls.
My Kingdom for a Politician with a conscience. So sickening. These poor people are destroying their lives and enviornment.

@modi
country like India, Pakistan & Bangladesh are quite poor in OHSE
they care about so much about enviormental stuff in the EU and USA but never help any other countries
raise your hands if you think Europe has been a disaster for the World over the last 500 years.

Its not our problem that they have to work in these conditions. Its the breaking companies and the cortupt indian government. And stop taking in euros , its rupees in india .
Putting heavy enviromental laws on the Indian people who are doing the dismantling would solve the issue. Instead of complaining, pass the laws.
Disgusting...
So what they shall do?
The US better join the Paris Climate Accord
