  • Recorded in late September or early October of 1990. Just after Phish was signed to Absolute A-Go-Go and having recently purchased their Mercedes Benz L-Series (JEMP Truck). On their way out of town they stopped by Jet Sound Recording in South Burlington. After midnight they crammed into a space the size of a living room to record their brand new song to 16 track / 1”tape on a Tascam MS-16. "Buried Alive" was debuted just a couple of weeks earlier at The Wetlands in New York City. To go along with the theme of the album, Phish adds sound effects to sonically illustrate being chased by the abominable snowman. Jon overdubbed the crashes alone in the studio without monitoring the song. "Homes For The Holiday" featured 11 songs from local musicians to benefit Burlington's Transitional Housing Program. It was coordinated by Mike Luoma and engineered by Joe Egan and Barry O'Doherty. This version was remastered in 2024 by Clinton Vadnais. bigheavyworld.com/good-citize...

@@cleantones I don’t know why I thought there was a buried alive studio version on Wendell but I don’t see it. Was there another one in the rift sessions? I don’t know why my brain is telling me this….

@@Coby_Gotit’s a love. I can relate to what you’re saying. I don’t have definite answers about other possible versions. It does appear that they didn’t do Buried Alive at the June 1990 session. I wasn’t sure of the top of my head. I can’t recall if I ever knew of any Rift session outtakes. I know that the Junta outtakes the circulate are not from the Junta sessions. Off the top of my head I believe most of that is well recorded live content.

You know, this was relayed to me as Van. It may well have been a box truck. I’ll see if I can figure that out. I believe they bought it after signing to Absolute A Go Go.

@@cleantones no stress, just something I’ve never heard before and I think those generation of Mercedes vans were quite rare in the US. That’s the only reason that caught my attention. Thanks for posting this video though! Never heard this one!

@@trevorjacques_ I’m now pretty confident this is the JEMP truck that’s being referred to. Which is a 1990 L Series.
