    I just watched this tutorial and followed all the instructions. However I was having the same issue as a couple of other people in the comments, when it comes to rendering the animation. I am using Blender 2.81 and there are no problems when trying to render a single image in either Cycles or EEVEE. However, when you try to render the animation in Cycles or EEVEE, the spines do not show up at all. The fix that I found that works for me is to click on View>Viewport Render Animation. This was able to render out a PNG sequence. However something to remember, is that if you want a decent looking render, you need to make sure your viewport samples are higher. Oh and don't forget to disable/hide Overlays for the viewport render. Good luck!!!!!

    +MiesnerMedia if you haven't figured it out by now, anisotropy of a volume affects the angles at which light bounces off the fog. positive anisotropy will make light pass through with less changes to its angle, whereas negative anisotropy will make it more likely light will be bounced off the way it came. When you want to make the fog less severe, turn down the density. [If you're feeling extra saucy, use a noise, musgrave, or voronoi texture for the density mapped to the geometry position, then multiply it by itself or similar generated texture several times and finally divide it until you can see through it an plug that into density or use a similar technique on the anisotropy to give an unnatural appearance]

    • @ongakuwo
      @ongakuwo 4 года назад

      The better way is to use objects as instances in AN and not the particle sys. (So basically you make your own particle sys in AN) With the wiggle node you can achieve also some braid/turbulence and all transformations you want with AN Nodes.

      bit late to the party
      but if it's still of any help
      you need the animation_nodes_v2_1_windows_py36.zip file,
      github.com/JacquesLucke/animation_nodes/releases
      but if you've tried to install an older version before it will still fail, so you need to remove the "animation nodes" directory from:
      "%appdata%\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.78\scripts\addons\"
      folder location could be a bit different on your machine, but should be in %appdata% (\user\username\appdata
      oaming\blender...)",
      i wasn't using 2.78 myself (just changed the name of the folder to 2.78 above)
      so just try %appdata% and find the blender foundation folder in case the above folder does not work, if you even use windows.
      i have it working on the latest buildbot version of 2.79 (26-05-2018)

    @MiesnerMedia or anybody who reads this, would there be a way to have the splines between the two vertices be affected by gravity without changing the way those vertices move? I hope what I'm trying to say is clear enough. I think that would give it a more organic feel to it. I believe that should be possible using animation nodes, but I just don't know where to start.

    • @Miesnermedia
      @Miesnermedia  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Charles!
      Unfortunately I don't know of a way to do this in blender. If it were you would do it by subdividing the spline in animation nodes several times (which I'm not sure how to do), then converting it to a mesh (which can still be done procedurally in AN), Then putting it in a cloth solver with the particles/vertices set as pins (which I'm not sure how to do). Also from my little tests I haven't been able to get much to happen dynamics wise with this effect.
      You can achieve this in Houdini. Here is a tutorial on how to do it in there: www.entagma.com/yarnworks-wire-solver-and-constraint-networks-in-dops/

    I've been messing around with fusion but with 0 3d experience I haven't really committed to it, would it be worth swapping to blender or committing to fusion? Are they even used for the same stuff or do they have different purposes?

    • @Miesnermedia
      @Miesnermedia  6 лет назад

      I would say blender is a much better bet. The only thing that really interests me about fusion is some of the optical flow stuff in the full version. Fusion is probably a better compositor, but not by a whole lot, and if you are just looking for 3d stuff then blender all the way.
