That thing is so COOL.. I was just telling Brandon about the mowers last weekend.. Now that you posted this, looks like I'll have to drag out my OMC Lawn Boy again.. Thanks for sharing..
Isn't it great that people could use common sense in the old days and could produce gems like this? These days health and safety would be all over this before it got off the drawing board.
That thing has a wicked looking blade!! My maytag powered mower has sickle bar mower type knives mounted to a rotating disk to form the blade with a swivel wheel right inside the blade
this reminds me of an old lawnmower(not as old as the one in video) I have had in storage for years. it's called a flymow, basically a hovercraft lawnmower
Super rare mower. Nice. It's impossible to be in a bad mood watching RoadKing's or Mike's videos. That's why you don't see any fighting or arguing in the comments section like other RUclips channels. Thanks!!!
Victa mowers from australia made a twin cylinder too, in the 1970's im not sure what the motor is from, its a two stroke 170cc, we have a few here, they arent real good compared to the 160cc single cylinder victa two strokes though, they seem to seize easily, im guessing insufficient cooling, the singles will run forever, i repowered my compressor with one and when i was a kid i repowered a bicycle with one, was relatively scary as i didnt have a clutch on it, but it was certainly fun haha
I like the exhaust. Its a nice middle finger to the weeds and the bugs but I'm sure that machine was notorious for killing patches of grass when the user left it running in one spot.
that's truly a beautiful machine ,,it sounds cool too ,, am i mistaken or is that a Maytag model 72 engine ,,pretty impressive i am curious was the mower hand built or was it actually made by Maytag cause it sure was done well
Man, this sure is one cool old contraption, and it is in mint condition! I don't know where you guys dig this stuff up, you sure you don't have an operating Time Machine? (I would luv to borrow it for an hour sometime!) :) Great vid.
never seen a mower with 1 front wheel - ih that front wheel swiveled in a 360 I would think would work real good in mowing I would think someone has tried if not maybe could be next million dollar idea
+AntiqueFarmImplement that's what I mean, I basically just want a Maytag engine. it would be really cool to have it on a lawn mower like this though, that way it would be useful as well!
1970chevelle396 No, but they had common sense. Things like "don't stick your finger in the moving dangerous part". Lot of things were lost because that went missing, things like this beautiful landmower. Nothing even remotely as nicely built as that today.
I used one of those in the 1960's. There was a twist-knob on the side of the sheet metal housing covering the flywheel and of course containing the starter mechanism. There was a flip over and out two-piece folding crank handle on top. Set the side knob in the "Lock" position. Wind the spring up, fold the crank down into it's resting place, then give the side knob a twist...the spring would then rotate the engine and fire it up. The twist lock always wore out (shit metal) and like a worn gun sear...sometimes it would go off by itself while you were "loading it up". Luckily replacing the mechanism was often done by replacing this michael rodent (mickey-mouse) system with the sheet metal that contained a normal pull start...they were interchangeable.
A fun little machine, thanks for sharing.
He always finds the. Best stuff
Very cool...definitely haven't seen one of those before.
RamblinAround I've seen a few before but this is the nicest one!! I should have bought it eh!!☺
805ROADKING Yep, if anybody should own one, it's you.
Those horizontal twins are really nifty motors.
That 's a Nifty little mower !!! The blade is like the ones on a big brush hog or some on the weed wackers
That engine would do well on a large R/C plane!
the US used surplus Maytag motors on early drones.
I’m sure you could do scale flight, but those things were iron...
That thing is so COOL.. I was just telling Brandon about the mowers last weekend..
Now that you posted this, looks like I'll have to drag out my OMC Lawn Boy again..
Thanks for sharing..
That looks like my yard with all the dandelions! I don't have a mower I've got a riding salad shooter!
Sweet my dad has a nice collection of maytag engines. The twin cylinders run soo good
Holy crap, I haven't seen one of these in a million years. My gramps had one, I forgot they even existed.
Thanks for the memories.
Goregoon Too bad Gramps didn't leave it to ya !!☺
That's cool, seen pictures that's the first time in realtime, Thanks for sharing !!
Isn't it great that people could use common sense in the old days and could produce gems like this?
These days health and safety would be all over this before it got off the drawing board.
i never know maytag made a mower. i have seen just the engine at my show out in newcumberland W.V. but thats pritty cool little mower
One wild looking mower.
Was just talking about the gas powered Maytag washers this weekend.
That is a cool looking lawn mower thank you for sharing.
+Steven Watson Thanks for checkin' it out Bud!!☺
flywheel reminded me of the old power products mower.blade reminded me of the old jacobson mower.
That thing has a wicked looking blade!! My maytag powered mower has sickle bar mower type knives mounted to a rotating disk to form the blade with a swivel wheel right inside the blade
I'd happily mow the law all day with that sound track
MO3MINI It would take ya all day with that thing!!☺
2 cylinder wow
nice looking unit and a twin
What an oldie, thanks for posting.
Very cool old mower!
Sounds just like Sunday morning.
That's so cool. I told my dad that we have to keep an eye out for one of those to add to my collection. :)
WOW! What a relic! Wonderful shape! :) Jack
That is just the cutest little mower!
this reminds me of an old lawnmower(not as old as the one in video) I have had in storage for years. it's called a flymow, basically a hovercraft lawnmower
Super rare mower. Nice.
It's impossible to be in a bad mood watching RoadKing's or Mike's videos. That's why you don't see any fighting or arguing in the comments section like other RUclips channels. Thanks!!!
+Scott Carlson Thanks Bud!! We do get haters and BS comments once in a while, they just get deleted or banned!! We don't have time for that stuff!!☺
I must say thats the coolest thing ever. Possibly the first and only twin cylinder push mower ever?
Shakes 73 Not so. Check out Chargermiles007. He does all sorts of briggs hackery/wizardry and he's made both twin cylinder and 3 cylinder push mowers.
Cool Thanks for the info I will check it out.
Neat mower. Mowers haven't changed drastically, conceptually they are very much the same. Maybe a little safer, but where is the fun in that?
Craig Arndt Yeah they came up with a great design and stuck with it!!☺
Maytag made a lawn mower? The design IS rather cool... With the three-wheel configuration.... It can really mow around some tight spots!
Karyn Felix-Angell Yeah they put their engines on a few different things, even a little Go Kart called a Maytag Racer!!☺
Maytags get everywhere :D Looks in great shape.
creamofcardstv Yeah they used them for a few things!! Even a Lil' Go Kart they called the Maytag Racer!!☺
Good ole mower , Never saw one before !!
That's cool! Choppermower!
Now thats a rare lawnmore :-)
James Eggerth Yeah Buddy!!☺
I guess Maytag had to figure out what to do with all of the washing machine engines they didn’t need anymore.
I wish they still made cool stuff like this..I'd gladly pay 600 bucks for a new one if they still made them
I like the exhaust. Its a nice middle finger to the weeds and the bugs but I'm sure that machine was notorious for killing patches of grass when the user left it running in one spot.
I'd imagine this is a restored unit, and beautifully so!
TheFurriestOne Yeah it's a Resto!!☺
805ROADKING And a quality one too!
very cool
I absolutely love the older engeneering.
pretty cool 3 wheeler!
Fine machine!! I Lov to hav one to mow with I just got small yard
nice
that's truly a beautiful machine ,,it sounds cool too ,,
am i mistaken or is that a Maytag model 72 engine ,,pretty impressive
i am curious was the mower hand built or was it actually made by Maytag cause it sure was done well
wildcoyote34 Yeah that's a 72 and that was made by Maytag!!☺
that's cool! speaking of cool, are yall getting back to that radial engine sometime soon?
Super Cool!!!
Looks like an old airplane motor-twin cylinder too wow
Runs better than my briggs Intek, in that this mower engine actually runs... :P
Thats cool
I had a feeling that you were going to do a solo video for this one. Pretty cool looking mower though.
mirodeogrl You know me too well Buddy!!☺
Man, this sure is one cool old contraption, and it is in mint condition!
I don't know where you guys dig this stuff up, you sure you don't have an operating Time Machine? (I would luv to borrow it for an hour sometime!) :)
Great vid.
ChargerMiles007 Thanks Miles!! Yeah that's the nicest one I've ever seen!!☺
Was it for sale?
never seen a mower with 1 front wheel - ih that front wheel swiveled in a 360 I would think would work real good in mowing I would think someone has tried if not maybe could be next million dollar idea
Now that's just way too cool! Is the a factory made Maytag setup or is this a home made project?
UnitCrane514 Nah that's Factory!!☺
cool guys
Man that's cool!
would be a great edging mover.
Never seen anything like that one, Maytag Mower? 👍
Can u imagine looking forward to mowing the lawn ?
That's cool!
I have one of these, need to find a coil for
is it four stroke or two stroke?
2 stroke.
one strange looking mower
Imagine trying to find blades for that right now
Neighbors won't know if you're doing the washer mowing your yard
I want one just because they sound cool
+AntiqueFarmImplement that's what I mean, I basically just want a Maytag engine. it would be really cool to have it on a lawn mower like this though, that way it would be useful as well!
its a four stroke right? it sounds like one
Finnjamin Donaldpoop 2 stroke!!☺
cool!
Does that have points in it?
BUDDY LIGHT I think it does , Just like the rest of the Maytag engines !
Muchas Buenos
Could double as a U.F.O. in 1950's space invader movie.👽
With its ten inch width of cut you may be mowing a while.
Safety , shmafty , you pull the plugs out to stop it.
That whack mower cut me ,
cut me old school!
Shes a beast
Maybe small, but still a twin engine!!!
***** Yeah 5/8 HP!!☺
Really, I'd a thought atleast 2hp
No such thing as safety back then with no guard over that flywheel.
1970chevelle396 No, but they had common sense. Things like "don't stick your finger in the moving dangerous part". Lot of things were lost because that went missing, things like this beautiful landmower. Nothing even remotely as nicely built as that today.
People weren't ignorant sheep back then.
Way fewer injury lawyers and complicit judges
sounds good
What happens when you actually try to cut grass with it??
Lol you're voice sounded like you were 20 or 30 at the end
Wow... its quiet
why don't they make blades like that today.
remember the old crank up then push the button.. I asking you to do a video on them I think they we're made by B&S
👍👍👍👍👍👍
FROZEN MAN. .......
