That's quite interesting saying that clip at 1:58 has southern twang interwoven into "new" MMF sound...and I find it hard to believe you guys would go through all that trouble recording that sweet segment just to prove a point. I recognize and embrace that the southern sound as a whole is not coming back, but I don't think anyone can deny that elements are still in your sound. The clip off of studio update one even proves that man!
You basically just proved what I was saying in fewer words hahahahaha! I feel even on the last album there were traces of the SOUTHERN (and no, not country, but rather rock with southern chord structure) rock and roll (cause r&r alone is such a broad phrase). I for one appreciate how you appreciate writing. I feel too often people over think, but writing what is real to you at that point deserves props! Regardless, thanks for responding and being honest!
1:58 on shows me that Kellen, regardless of what he was saying, saw that total absence of the southern sound WAS in fact limiting them and turning them into just another scenecore band. Say what you want, but this dude completely thought long about it and the sound that is coming out is a mash up of old and new MMF! There is enough southern twang to please old school fans that MAINLY like the southern sound (me) and new fans that like the dark scenecore sound. super excited for this now!
Lol good to see some humor. On a serious note though, sounds like a godly new album. Real lyrics with real meaning, backed by legit instrument playing to capture the emotion. These guys know power with words and instruments. Keep that style
I actually do record only a few seconds at a time for really tricky stuff. sometimes i'll only track one chord at a time. i've learned to make it sound flawless and it saves a but load of time editing- the irony is that i actually thought Mr. Mizzel did the same thing with his bands! haha. man he must edit a shit load. stoked for this record.
MMF is by far one of the more talented bands on the Rise label. In the realm of catchy ass songs, besides maybe Like Moths, MMF songs are definitely the most infectious. These samples sound so sick.
Yeah that was my biggest motivator for going when I heard them say that, but if it's not released for my Warped I'll have lost all motivation to go haha
Please bring back that old southern twang. It sounds so complex and rhythmic at the same time. Sleepwalking had amazing guitar parts, and The Hollow had an amazing and full sound. I think a combination of the two would impregnate the vagina of music with one kickass record.
also is that me or that synth we can hear on the last snippet is an "homage" to Sleepwalking ? They reused the melody (but tuned way lower) from Been There, Done That"s old version (that was posted in forms of snippets on myspace back in 2008, i've still got it if anyone want)
i enjoy maylene. and i understand what you mean. but i dont think they are over produced at all. they may not be a full on southern metal band anymore, but they still have their own sound. no other band on rise is as original as MMF, besides maybe OMAM. and i agree, the riff at the end does sound fucking awesome.
The Hollow is still my favorite album. I can't waittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
So many phenomenal bands coming out of Dallas right now. So glad to call it my hometown, or, well, close enough to my hometown :)
They have the best updates.
I can't stop listening to that riff either man
This man... This man is my hero
God damn i love this band.
So FUCKING Stoked that they are bringing back that southern vibe and blending it with the major epicness of the last album.. FUCK YES CANT WAIT
I love how they addressed the fact that fans of their southern style can't get over the fact that they've moved on. Good video.
I honestly have not been more excited for an album as I am for this one.
Kellen such a boss. Can't wait for the cd. Whatever way they go wit it I know ima loove it mmf has always always been my favorite band

They said it's coming out summer so either during or before warped, They'll perform them probably either way.
Good to go
cool
Possibly the coolest trolling on the internet!!!
These updates are hilarious but hurry the F up and release this album already! It sounds awesome!
Sounds like I see the grey in their words? I've been trying to figure it out too but I'm too distracted by the sick guitar tones lol
The ending song is "Prove Me Right". and i think that's what they were referring to.
Good to go! :)
Drum, Bass, Lead Guitar.. Wonder who gonna do part 4. Matty or Anthony/Ryan?
I fucking love memphis
the riff he does
The rough mix sounds better than the one on the final record.
"Since all we play is breakdowns now"
Made me laugh so hard
Holy shit balls! I NEED THIS ALBUM NOW!!
fuck yeah dude cant wait
if i'm not mistaken, they've already said it'll be released during warped tour, but an official date has said to be announced.
MMF is by far one of the more talented bands on the Rise label. In the realm of catchy ass songs, besides maybe Like Moths, MMF songs are definitely the most infectious. These samples sound so sick.
"Ready to do some chugs since all we do is breakdowns now."
That made me laugh so hard.

fair play their producer is awesome...
Good sense of humor

@Lucas yahnke no.. actually no amp at al. ampsim and impulses. talked to Kellen on Facebook last night.
The best subtle Fuck You to so many people I've seen in years lol well done! Cant wait for this album!
i enjoy maylene. and i understand what you mean. but i dont think they are over produced at all. they may not be a full on southern metal band anymore, but they still have their own sound. no other band on rise is as original as MMF, besides maybe OMAM. and i agree, the riff at the end does sound fucking awesome.
