I can see why you thought it sounded like slipknot. This album came out a year after Iowa. This is the first stone sour album, so Corey was still using his brutal screams quite a lot.

@@MusicCatsandCoffee came out on a major label after Slipknot's Iowa, all the songs on this album except Bother actually predate Cory joining Slipknot, they were produced and released independently around the same time as Slipknot's Mate Feed Kill Repeat independent release, which had Anders Colesefni on vocals, I was at the show where Corey was first approached by Shawn, Joey and Paul, after Corey beat up some of Slipknot's gear while performing another track off this album, Tumult, which is the song Stone Sour finished the show with during that time period, originally Stone Sour was supposed to open the show for Slipknot at the Safari Club but due to Corey being stuck at work Slipknot did their set then about 15 or 20 minutes after they finished Corey got to the club, sent a girl next door to grab him a bottle of Welches Grape Juice so he could color his hair in the clubs employee bathroom, then Stone Sour took the stage, by the time the show was over Corey was more than halfway to drunk and spent most of the time the guys were trying to talk to him apologizing for bending a mic stand and putting dents in a stage monitor, so they eventually drug his ass back to the employee only area to talk to him privately, but I believe all they were able to do that night was set up a meeting for another day that week. At that time I don't believe Jim Root was in Slipknot yet, but by the time they were signed, both Jim and Corey were in the band, and Anders had quit the band, if Anders hadn't let his ego get in the way the band would have likely had 10 members instead of 9

Stone sour has a big range, Get Inside by Stone Sour is another song that's as angry as Slipknot. Id never would guess that you're so fascination with CMFT, makes your videos fun to watch! :) I hope to see your reaction to angry Corey in Get Inside.

Corey had been in Slipknot for around 5 years at the time of this album's release, not to mention that the more modern Slipknot that you've heard more of is less heavy and sounds more like Stone Sour. So your comparisons between the bands is fair as there's almost certainly a crossover in each band's respective influences and styles. At the time though there was a more prominent difference because Slipknot was still much darker and heavier, also bear in mind that Stone Sour up until this point wasn't as heavy and was more experimental. In fact some people say that modern Slipknot is simply 'Stone Sour with extra percussion', which also shows disdain for how Corey and Jim now have so much more influence in the band. And yes it is Sid, he did guest scratching on this song as well as "Cold Reader" and "Monolith" also from this same album.

@@MusicCatsandCoffee Yes it was Sid, if you don't believe me you can take a look at the people involved in the album's making at its Wikipedia page. A lot of these crossovers happen in the side-projects... Jim also plays guitar on some of Sid's solo stuff.

Yeah, probably is Jim melodic stuff, he do this type of sound a lot, but i never see he play this live, also he put an solo in live after that part, and he leave the band in 2014 because he is not really happy with he done, and he said that he gona focus only slipknot.

I'm pretty sure that is just an effect on the guitar no Sid. And Corey Taylor took this crap back to slipknot and turned them into slipsour which pretty much killed slipknot as they used to be which may be why it might be why it sounds like slipknot. Since they basically became slipsour
