    So the auto lens correction only works based on my subjective attempts to get it right on previous edits? I think this might be a deal-breaker for me.

      The app does not have its own database of lenses. By following the steps in the video, you can generate your own profile and that is what gets used for future automatic corrections. In my own experience, I have found this approach to work well.

    Wondering if you could support something like the Lensfun database, or a way to profile your lenses like you might with Hugin, where you shoot a target like you did, or a building with horizontal and vertical lines, and map them out with lines, and a detailed profile is generated, including for complex distortion like moustache distortion. Also not clear if you can change the size of the grid (with a slider, like say PTLens) or lay down guides to help.

      I have looked into the Lensfun database. My understanding is that the data in the profiles maps directly to the correction algorithms (in other words, the profile data is expressed as parameters to the various Lensfun correction algorithms). However, those algorithms (which are CPU based) are not compatible with the GPU lens correction algorithms in RAW Power. As a result, the database's information cannot be applied. Sorry. I tried to make the process of shooting a target and making the corrections as straightforward as possible. With the advanced sliders, it is possible to correct advanced distortions like mustache distortion (at least to some extent).

      @@GentlemenCoders is it possible to parse it and convert to the right format? I shoot Fuji now, they have inbuilt profiles (not sure if RP applies those as well as the vignetting correction). I have a few manual lenses from Samyang and Laowa as well as vintage lenses, I’m prepared to attempt making profiles, but unsure of the slider method; the way something like Hugin do it (using Panorama Tools) may be more work and “geeky”, but worth it for accuracy as an option in a separate module for those willing to do that.

      @@msandersen It may be possible, but non-trivial. I have a lot of my plate, so it's not something I plan to investigate right now.

    Will this ever get brushes like LR? Man I miss Aperture but I'm now fully entrenched in Adobe. If only Apple kept Aperture and ported it to iPadOS and have it all sync with iCloud, I would drop Adobe in a heartbeat. As of right now, nobody comes close to Adobe and their cloud. I import my RAWs into Lightroom on my iPad Pro and do 99.9% of my edits on it. I let that sync to the cloud and use Lightroom Classic on my Mac to download, organize, and backup all my RAWs. When I deliver my photos, all I have to do is share a link, which the client can then download their photos without having the need to download any app.

      Brushes are a high priority. They are planned for the future.

      I use Capture One since the demise of Aperture, in combination with Photo Mechanic for the import and metadata. I just didn't like Lightroom, and since switching to Fuji, even less so. Capture One demonstrated their upcoming iPad app recently, no idea what kind of syncing they plan, but I will get it regardless.

      Charmin Baer, just an FYI, I was an Aperture user since 1.0 and I’m still using it today at 3.6. Aperture didn’t get brushes until v3.0, a full 5 years after it launched. And BTW, I have to say the implementation of the brushes feature in Aperture is pure brilliance! Here’s hoping we get an equally brilliant tool in RAW Power (no pressure, Nik 😉)

    Why is auto not active ?

    • @GentlemenCoders
      @GentlemenCoders  Год назад

      Auto Lens Correction is enabled for a subset of cameras and formats, depending on if Apple's RAW decoder is able to read and understand the lens metadata. This video covers how to use RAW Power's manual lens correction system (and how to teach it to perform automatic corrections based on your manual ones).

      @@GentlemenCoders How to work in manual mode I understood and thank you for this video. But I am very surprised that the newest version of the program does not read data from the 2-year-old Nikon z6ii camera ???

    • @GentlemenCoders
      @GentlemenCoders  Год назад +1

      @@SK-su6xk For the Nikon Z6 II, the lens correction data is read by Apple. I just tested an image from that camera and the Apple Lens Correction checkbox appeared in the RAW Processing adjustment, and the lens correction was applied.
