The Varis widebody kit for the MK5 Supra is BY far my favorite one! It makes the car look sooooo damn good!
That's the best body kit I've seen so far on the latest gen Supra.

Man even there street cars are so well kept, I love AutoFocus it's such a great show when you feel scum bagged out and just wanna enjoy the beauty of car culture
Here you can see the reason why I hype all these japanese bodykit and aftermarket manufacturers. The japanese craftsmanship is something out of this world and the results are always so exact and near perfect. So I would say: Respect your elders and respect the slowly disappearing craftmanship!

I ordered varis carbon parts for my Z and took almost a year to get it - totally worth it.
I have so much respect for Varis now. I always thought it was just an overpriced body kit, but seeing these kits being hand crafted, hand drawn, is truly amazing. Especially out of a little shop in the country side.
That's cool to see where my diffuser, vortex generators, and canards were hand crafted. Thank you for the content.
FRP = Fiber Reenforced Plastic
The rolls and sheets you were pointing out is just called "fiber glass" or even just "glass".
The P in FRP is the resin after it cures.
The "Glass fibers" reenforce the "Plastic resin".

I've always been a huge Varis fanboy and would love to run one of their bodykits. But seeing this made me so much more appreciative of the quality behind Varis.

@Snails40 they pointed out it's an LHD Acura NSX. It is indeed an Acura, which is made for the US market only.
Besides that, a circle is 2D, a ball is 3D.

I was always surprised almost everyday while in Japan for nearly a decade.
But yep that's their factory beyond anyones imagination.
I'm sorry to say that while this episode (all episodes) was awesome, to suggest that buying "fake" parts puts these mom and pop shops "out of business" is simply not the case. We can boil this scenario down into a very simplistic one and when we do, we can see it's actually quite comparable to what we see in the fashion industry. When Varis makes a body kit, the price is established from a couple of components. First, the inputs: Direct Labour, Direct Materials, and Manufacturing Overhead which is an arbitrary allocation but a real cost of making parts. While these parts are all hand made and there are plenty of labour hours and expensive material put into them, the cost of inputs is nowhere near the price you pay. This is where we see the second component: Market Segment. This is where Varis says "we as a brand want to operate in the upper tier of bodykit and aero manufacturing", and this makes sense. These are one-off body kits that push the company into the area of innovation and discovery. In order to support this innovation and place the company into the territory of Ultra High End within the eyes of consumers, products must be priced accordingly. This high price not only covers the cost of R&D and Design. It is responsible for dictating consumer behaviour. Consumers will inherently establish quality and exclusivity with high price tags, which is why Varis must command the prices they do (and appropriately so). Now this creates a market dilemma. The price Varis commands limits themselves to a very small portion of the overall market that has the resources to acquire their goods but at the same time sparks demand. Let's say 50% of consumers want a Varis kit but only 5% of that 50% can actually afford to buy it. You're left with the other 45% of that original 50% that still wants a kit but can't afford Varis. Now we can see that a market need has emerged, and low cost/high volume producers are able to step in and fill that demand. This has little (if any) affect on Varis's bottom line, given that this part of the market was never going to be able to afford their kits in the first place. Business exists (generally speaking) to fill the needs of consumers, and that is what the cost/value brands are there for. Let us not confuse the public by saying the value option directly takes money from companies like Varis as they are operating in two different areas of the same market. That being said, I fully recognize the value and quality found in parts from Japanese manufactures. They are truly awesome and I will continue to support those companies. Keep doing what you're doing!

One of the nicest widebody a90 kits I've seen. I'd like to see them redo the horrible front bumper with this kit though. Also like to see whole fenders and not just over fenders along with a proper wodebody front bumper(that looks better)

i totally support buying genuine body parts, because end of the day, if you buy cheap knock offs, youll spend just as much on trying to get it to fit...your panel beater will love you for the genuine bits, being a straight fit. this si coming from personal experiance on both my 180 and my jzx...
although in saying that, if its a drift pig, and panel gaps dont matter...then buy whatever.

Hey Larry, I enjoyed this video, always been a fan of Varis. I will say its pretty funny the lack of knowledge in the automotive aftermarket industry on carbon fiber manufacturing methods haha. I would love to help educate in the future if anyone wants to listen. Will say that Varis manufacturing methods are quite antiquated in comparison to what we have in F1 right now, and F1 has been the same for at least 20+ years.
Understood, but it's not even the same thing. This is not F1, these are just street cars and it's more about styling than performance.

What a supra cool factory and process
4:30 that is 400g carbon , “normal” carbon is called 200g , and the “shavings “ is forged carbon
what does *3k carbon *mean?
@@Eduardo_Espinoza 3k carbon refers to the width of the filament band - literally 3000 filaments per band (or tow), the wider pattern carbon is either 24k or 48k hence wider bands in the weave.
Nope, 400g or 200g refers to the weight of the cloth. 200g cloth is literally 200 grams per square metre, that can have the same pattern but be different weight cloth. The different width of the stripes depends on the the type of tow used, 3k is 3000 filaments wide (really fine small pattern) while or 48k is 48000 filaments wide hence the chunkier pattern. The regular pattern cloth is called plain weave, while the cloth that looks to have diagonal patterns is called a twill (or satin) weave.

@14:00 I've been told that the "made to order" business plan is because of Japan (business) law about taxing inventory. Thus why if bodykit crafters like Varis don't have a North American supplier wanting to buy their stock, they're not going to supply it themselves in their build house.

I never really thought of it for a long time, maybe I'd have bought a knock-off kit for any kind of reason, financial or ''Its a drift stallion so i put fake parts on it'', but after seing this nah. That is total disrespect to those guys who are putting their hearts into what they are doing. Dont stop Autofocus dude just cut some randomness at the donut garage before shutting Autofocus down!!!
