This same year, “Drukqs” came out, then “Go Plastic,” then “Confield.” Feel so lucky to have witnessed that era of music (across ALL genres) as a world hungry 20 year old.
You named what I also Know there! 2001 -2003 was the height and decline of this era for me at least. Autechre, Gescom, SquarePusher, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Massive Attack, all my mains still
“Mt Saint Michel Mix + St Michaels Mount” beats this one for me, but only because of the alternating bad ass beginning melody, and ending gorgeous melody that breaks the tie. But yeah. I immediately called the guy who turned me on to RDJ in 97 and was like “IJUSTBOUGHTANEW2SONGRDJSINGLEANDIT’S....just come over it’s fucking AMAZING!” ...... honestly I can’t remember the last time I was so excited by a release. Find myself going back to that 1995-2005 era more and more. There’s good music out there today for sure but for me, I’m just grateful I was alive to witness it as a young man.
"It's like...when I took that E...in Chelmsford...I'm like: 'I'm not doing this again. I'M NOT DOING THIS AGAIN!'" At least I'm pretty sure that's what he's saying (minus the other person he talks over at the beginning of the sample) . Chelmsford is the city Squarepusher and Ceephax Acid Crew are from.
Hold on hold on right it's like, when I took that E rich I was like that, I'm gonna do these again, I'm gonna do these again haha. That's what I heard?

I bought this on vinyl about ten years ago in my twenties.
