In addition, I forgot to mention this, but my enchant on Bernhardt is Full Moon, because it gives +10% ATK and DEF for both when Bernhardt is attacking, and being attacked. Unlike Rough Sea, which only kicks in when you are attacking.
Finally, here are some of the skill sets Bernhardt commonly uses (which was covered in the video):
1. PvP Bernhardt: Faction Buff, Sword Dance, Rupture
2. PvE High Damage Bernhardt: Faction Buff, Shield Bash, Rupture.
3. PvE Tank Bernhardt: Faction Buff, Shield Bash or Hegemony, Parry
4. Vs Thunder Dragon: Faction Buff, Hegemony, Sun Shade (because parry only offers some DEF increase, and Dragons are immune to Rupture's fixed damage).

I know im late but love this game, just got leon 3 days ago and just know bernhardt. Cant express the joy of being a free-to-play player getting ssr heroes. Thks for the advice and tips . Love and major fan of fire emblem, which is pretty similar to langrisser.
I love the Shield Bash skill. You basically just bait the enemy green tank into popping the tank skill, then send Bern in to Shield Bash a unit the tank is protecting. Not only will he damage the tank for a ton of damage (especially with the Empire buff), but he also removes the tank from protecting anyone for an entire round since it's stunned. Then just have your Cherie or Leon or whoever clean up. When the tank wakes up the next round, he's all alone, having failed at his one job. lol
Agreed. Shield bash really defines Bernhardt's role in PvE. Knocking out an enemy unit is incredibly useful!

Got this giant SOB from the bag event, thanks for having a video to figure out how i can build him. So far plan is grab Shield bash and then go for faction buff and then finish out left tree

i had bernhardt on the day 1 banner with leon and bozel from the event, so i tried my luck and got altemuller on my first 10x. Felt good
I really wanted this bastard but got Altemuller.

Regarding additional hero build videos. I have 25 of the SSR heroes covered. There aren't that many additional heroes for me to talk about which I actually have built, or plan to build.
Most of the SRs can effectively use the exact same stuff as the SSR heroes (e.g. Sonya would share the same gear as Leon, etc.)
Similarly, I considered doing a "generic mage" video, but I felt like Lana covers that pretty much.
So right now, there just aren't any heroes I need to do videos on haha.
@@Nitroglycerine Currently i'm only at level 35 and the only SSR heroes i have are Leon, Bernhardt, Tiaris and Cherie. I'm trying hard to upgrade my SR gears :( need to do lots of Goddess Trial and Aniki
A question, for the Training is there a limit for level 1 - 4 categories? i'm planning to max out those stats to level 10, is it possible and worth the time?
@@acez874 not sure what you mean by level 1-4 categories ;)
But each tech has a max level. You'll definitely want to max out the techs eventually. You'll find that it's the SSR items that ends up being your hard limit for upgrading the training grounds, not the silver or gold items.
For example, I never farmed the Anikis except for Rocky early on, and I'm still at (almost) 14/14/14 core techs for all my training grounds, just from doing the 2 dailies.
@@Nitroglycerine Sorry my bad what i meant Training Field, there is different tier of soldiers we can unlock. . . do i need to max out the passive stats mastery? because i need to it to lvl 8 or above to unlock next tier of soldier category
@@acez874 the passives will be key to strengthening your soldiers, so yes, you should upgrade them steadily.

I'll see what I can do. No promises though.
I like to use mage heavy teams, and Bozel fits into that. Plus, there was the Bozel event for a free Bozel, so the majority of players have 1, unless you unfortunately started late.
Dark guards fixed damage go up to 14% max health and healing goes to 28% at level 10 guards btw! I’m close to getting that awesome %’age on my bern!
Would it not be 15% and 30% you usually get slightly bigger increases in the last couple of upgrades for some soldiers so they don't stop on random numbers
Is bernhardts exclusive armor good nowdays, or should i hold out for hilda helmet or lanas armor? I usually run, empire,tensei, and dark and i already have bozels exclusive.
Basically... it depends whether your Bern ends up 3 tiles away from enemies :D
He ends up at that distance with balanced blade in PvP
in PvE, he's less likely to do so.
I have a little question
1.Did "magic" do really well when combine with sword dance in pvp or something else is better
2."Rough sea said attacking to get bonus atk" If I use sword dance, Will it count as I'm attacking and get bonus from rough sea
3.Does aoe skill count as battle
4.I can't find varna build did you have some

Bernhardt is one of the better designed characters in terms of strategy. Hate the fact that Zlongames favor bad guys so much. Best units in the game are ones I kill in Langrisser

Yea, it really does feel that way. He's one of the characters whose skills you constantly change depending on the scenario you are facing.
Yea next is obviously bozel. He has sleep black hole summon undead teleport dark reaper earthquake and seal so broken

Rewind is a must, but then she has to choose 2 of:
- mass heal, strengthen, regenerate, and heal.
Rewind is so clutch can't believe how good it is another well made end game unit and the best Sr healer in the game
but so do you run bern as brave or emporer in general use?
i heard in CN server theres some weird shit in world arena, with hein teleporting bernhardt into enemy group, if he survive with low hp and carbon fiber gives him so much damage, 1 shot whole group with blade dance
Dude could you give me your quick opinion, I'm level 60, my team right now is Leon, ledin, elwin, cherie , Lana, bozel, liana, tiaris /my Leon is by far my strongest at 5k soo I really wanted altemeuler but pulled Bern, I have elwin already at 4500, but I value Leon soo much, Just was wandering if I should stop pushing elwin and push Bern past him, my elwin right now is 4300, I think might would get more out of Bern?
Elwin apparently getting buffed next week - and thats when he will be the top thunder dragon killer - even solo

I left mine on Brave. I believe it has a bit more DEF than Emperor.

Ming sounds stupid... but what about Sun shade? I run him sometimes with Dark guard, sun shade and hard rock enchant, with the help of Aenea's Armor, he self heal so well that he barely need a healer nearby (as long as there are no Cavalery nearby obviously). And it's helping to keep Overrun tactics and Emergency treatment for his Dark Guards.
So what about a full tank Bernhardt skill set with Sun shade, Iron fist and shield bash/hegemony to run with a Leon, Alte (strat buff), Bozel (dark buff), healer team?
Yes, since Bozel's faction buff will affect Bernhardt, this actually works too.
This is another example of the flexibility of Bernhardt.
Of course, in this situation, you can still choose between:
Sun Shade, Iron Fist, Hegemony or
Hegemony, Shield Bash (self healing dark guards after attack), Parry

You're asking me a question that's 1 year ago for me ^_^;
Vaguely, however, unlocking Lava titans simply needs you to have them at level 1 in the training ground. So go look at the lancer training ground, and see if you can unlock them?
u didnt talk about enchants i gave him breeze for the lag of mobility like u mentioned because i think the boots cripple his att to much
Yep, that's definitely one way to use him.
I fully agree that boots definitely cripple his attack. When I took down thunder dragon, I definitely didn't have boots but a +ATK accessory on him!
I would like to ask, which is the final class that he need to stay? Brave or Emperor? I used 3 runes for him and mastered all classes already.
He can work in either.
This is because he's both a tank and AoE attacker.
Brave has more DEF & HP, while Emperor has more ATK.
I personally use mine in Brave, but I can totally see Emperor could be better (especially for ancient beckoning).

hegemony doesnt work if u attack an opponent with def reduction immunity. idk if its a bug but i noticed it at daily events

man im so far behind everyone, level 57, strongest unit is Bernhardt with 3.3k power. Everyone on my friend list has like 4k+ power. I even use martial spirits to upgrade my gear to 5 stars. Most of my main units have their first 3 bonds maxed out. Training grounds are all around 11-15 levels. What am I doing wrong?
1. What * are the heroes you use? If they're 3*, start farming their shards in the Gate of Fate!
2. Training ground: what is the level of the soldiers you actually use? I mean, if you spread out your training ground upgrades, rather than having say... lvl 6-8 soldiers that your charaters actually use, that would affect your power.
3. Is your gear SRs or SSRs? 5* gear is effectively only level 40. If it's level 40 SR gear, you're talking lv30 SSR gear, which is crap. You need to be using either lv50 SRs, or (minimum) lv40 SSRs.
You can look at my Nitro's setup videos to see my power progression at lv47, 57, and 60 (I'm trying to do 1 video every monday or tuesday).
I finally got him I saved everything for him dumped 80 vouchers and instantly brought him up to 60 with 3800 power

generally, full dark doesn't really work.
The characters are all useful, but full dark doesn't do well with challenges, high level aniki and goddess trials, and even later time rifts.
Combo-ed with empire/strategist + Tiaris & Liana though, it is super effective.

@@Nitroglycerine for the lower arena ranks, full dark works when you go full aoe attacks with Bozel's faction buff, Varna's support, Egbert's initial attack and Lana's nuke to end the team.
If you are princess faction and lack ledin, can you use him as an off faction self buffing tank?
Most people do indeed do that as princess

@@mightyPavan2010 nobody uses infantry to tank because the game has a lot of cavalry enemies. You will do minimal damage and have a struggle to keep bern healthy unless you got tiaris and Sophia
I'm so torn right now. I have maxed out Leon, Ledin, Elwin, Lana, Liana, Bozel, Cherie and Shelf and I've pulled Altemuller. He's going mid path right now, allthough I'll be needing his faction buff next time I get a rune. I've tried to pull for Bern too, but only got SRs. And I'm actually thinking - do I really really need him or I'm better off saving for Tiaris (25 April banner, but I'll only have 33% to get her because I have none of them). I feel like I really lack Tiaris's healing for some PVE missions or even for Ice Dragon...

To be perfectly honest, if you have Altemuller for faction buffing, you don't need Bernhardt.
Elwin can play his infantry role in clearing most end-game content where you need an infantry character.
I'd save up for Tiaris instead, since she's is probably more important.
Maybe you should look into your Liana's bonds, soldier level and gear including the passive(s) they provide (Crystal Ball/Angel Feather and Blessing Staff are mandatory). Her heals are without a doubt the most potent out of all the healers, with "Healing Effects %+" gear and good INT rolls,of course. For example, my Liana (3.6k power at level 60) is over-healing in most cases; Act Again is already healing at least 50% or more of my unit's HP coupled with her passive. In fact, the reason most players choose Shrine Maidens as her go-to soldiers is actually because she doesn't need the extra healing Bishops' provide and would rather prefer more survivability.
If a lack of healing power is really the problem, you can opt for Almeda as her passive heal and debuffs are incredibly useful (not to the mention the Holy Word heal) and she will be your budget Tiaris for end-game content. The only reason you'll need Tiaris (if you already have Liana) is for her Miracle and Attack Blessing buffs to facilitate level 60/65 Dragons, Anikis and high-tier Trials.
I actually run a similar core team to yours (Ledin, Elwin, Liana, Cherie and Leon) and recently pulled Bernhardt, although I would've preferred Altemuller as his Faction Buff fully gives life to the Leongrisser meme. In other words, your setup is very decent right now.
In my opinion, you don't specifically *need* Bernhardt or Tiaris; your problem can be fixed with better upgrades/gear and strategy, trust me. Don't underestimate Almeda or Sophia, they will carry you through end-game content without the need of Tiaris (as I was able to). Good luck.
@@louvel407 yes exactly. I do need her for high level dragons and other endgame content. And for her HoTs, because Liana's healing is amazing, but Tiaris does the tank much better. I'm perfectly happy with my Liana's healing, she heals more than enough, I just want a second healer.

In my case, yes.
He hasn't been used because I've already got secret realm blessing on all the Aniki except Jones (I did bring Bernhardt to many Aniki 65 fights), and cleared Thunder Dragon 65 (where I did use him).
For Timeless Trial, you almost always want to kill enemies in 1 turn, and there are only the occasional maps where you need an infantry style tank. Rather than Shield bash, Bozel's sleep is a strong replacement.
So the only time I use him now, is Guild Wars.
Only downside of Bernhardt is that he isn't a waifu
lol. But he's so manly / GAR that it's all good!

Pretty simple. Your empire characters do 20% more DMG to characters you have the class advantage over.
- Infantry counter lancers, so they do 20% more damage to them.
- Lancers counter cavalry, so they would do 20% more damage to them.
- Cavalry counter infantry, so they would do 20% more damage to them.
And so on. It's a nice bonus.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it does.
Because you do see "strong" appear when a melee or lancer character attacks the thunder dragon. Which is considered the "class priority".
Ok, but how the hell your dark guards can do a 17000 fixed damage?
Dark Guards fixed dmg scale off the target's max health. So it's going to deal a lot more dmg to tougher enemies (bosses that aren't immune to fixed dmg like the Anikis).

As a S1 assassin, he's ok.
But since he only has 3+2 = 5mv, for a maximum 7 attack range, he is overall pretty bad.
Dieharte can have a 10 attack range (cav class with demon hunters + strike + 2 range calamity).
6* Zerida has 9 (7mv + 2 range).
why full moon on him instead of rough sea?
If i remember correctly he got a very good enchant on fullmoon and transfered it from another character. On a side note, full moon is active on both turns, while rough sea only when attacking
He's not really a main attacker, more like an off-tank, so something that's effective on both phases is better for him!
As others have said. Bernhardt is likely to TAKE attacks, rather than just always be attacking.
So you want a buff that applies when he is both attacking, and defending, unlike Rough Sea.
Thus, I chose Full Moon.
