You nailed the video! As someone new to sonar and boat fishing this was very helpful for me to identify the fish on side scan. You were very informative in showing how and why you were looking in the places you did. I hear everyone say that side scan is the most helpful tool in your boat to locate the crappie and you showed just that. I have a hard time identifying the fish on sonar so walking us through the images and what to look for was extremely helpful. I would’ve probably used down scan and spooked them so it was great that you explained why you didn’t want to use down scan and the approach you took. I just finished watching the video for the second time and I can’t wait to see the rest of them in this series. There’s a ton of info out there for ffs sonar but not a lot using traditional sonar. Keep up the great work and thanks a ton for addressing some of the issues I’ve been facing. Your a natural teacher!

What's up Sir!! Great question and is very important - I'm usually going at least 2 to 3mph to get a decent return and I have the scroll speed set to 7 on the unit so that I'm getting the returned imagine as soon as I pass over it or scan from the side - hope that helps!!! Thanks for watching!! Tight Lines!!!
Great question! I'm not referring to the image when I make reference to the limb being to my left. What I saying is that as I'm facing the camera and speaking - the limb that I had just scanned is to my left(but your right) since you're facing me. and in the image the limb appears on both sides because of the way I'm turning the boat. I was trying to capture as much of the tree as possible and because I caught I lot of the tree directly under the transducer while turning the boat - the limb is showing on both sides of the image. Thanks so much for watching and thanks for the question!! Please let me know if I need to explain further!!! Tight lines, Sir!!!
@crushincrappie6525 I have a 14 foot also, that gives me a little more confidence to take it out, I'm a couple hours north of you in sandusky ohio, right on the bay.
You show your side scan images. Where do you have your transducer mounted is it on your trolling motor? If so how did you mount to that minkota edge been considering it and not sure how to mount it
@Lowe160 I do have a transducer on the minkota but it's mainly for 2D/downscan for my little Garmin striker unit. The Sidescan Transducer is mounted to the hull of the boat, very back, right side of the motor... if you're standing behind the boat. Hope that helps.. thx for the question and thx so much for watching!!! Let me know if you have any more questions, Sir!!!
