    I bought a bidet for my bathroom and it really does spoil you. I have the heated seat too. Using the bathroom anywhere else really does feel barbaric now. And I feel so much cleaner. I got after I was diagnosed with colon cancer, so I’m using it a lot and it was the best purchase I ever made.

      Haha I did that too! Well actually I created a pillow/blanket fort around the heat vent. I used the couch cushions as walls, and created an additional barrier with a little "sleeping" area that collected the most heat and I put my baby brother in there (he was a preme and this was in the Midwest USA. The house was barely 68 on a good day, and usually closer to 55-65). My mom was furious because I was "stealing" all the heat for myself. Also I had taken all the cushions and moved the furniture for my little fort. I still did it whenever she wasn't home. I didn't care about the heat bill. Baby bro made it through the winters and is all grown up now with a family of his own.

    The Japanese are extremely clever people and they care about what and how they present conveniences that makes life easier for them. I bow down to such thoughtfulness on every level of life.
    I live in Australia and I feel embarrassed at how backwards our country must seem to them.. if only more governments held such considerations for their nations like Japan, we'd all be a much happier and healthier world living in harmony with each other and our environments. I'm soo wishing I could live in Japan just watching this. At best I can lay claim to having visited Japan and I loved everything about my visit there.

    Using any restroom without a washlet is barbaric. We got to try one out at a Hilton and ordered ours while we were on vacation. • @willowsprite

    My husband explained why kotatsu would not work in Canada. We have central heating, Japan does not. Can’t turn off our central heating for a kotatsu, our water pipes would freeze and in a condo/ apartment the condensation would eventually affect the building structure.

    The problem in the U.S. is that everything is vandalized. The phone sanitizer would quickly have trash dumped in it. The hot and cold drink vending machine would be smashed if it wasn't under supervision. Bathrooms generally would be messed up unless inside a well supervised area. We don't have a cohesive culture in the U.S. and many people are resentful.

    Hmmm. Maybe I will go back to Japan. I haven't been there since 1984 when some friends and I were refused service at a restaurant because a Japanese man claimed only people who speak Japanese could go inside the place. We knew we were being openly discriminated against and I called him out on it by saying that my money spends all over the world and I don't have to eat there. They used to have signs in their windows that said 'No dogs or Americans' according to my military friends who were once stationed there.

    Everything sounds amazing except the self heating bento boxes. Heating in and eating out of plastic sounds dangerous with chemicals leaching into the meal.

    • @DrRenee1
      @DrRenee1 Month ago +6

      I’m more concerned about the disposal of those boxes. Not only the plastics, but the used chemicals are going into the disposal system. Are they recycled, incinerated, or buried in a landfill? If you bring your own food and just use a microwave, you can eat hot food without the waste.

    • @DrRenee1
      @DrRenee1 Month ago +5

      @w@wellman867 microwave causes movement within the water molecules (which creates the heat) but cannot alter them. They remain water molecules. If you want to alter water molecules, you have to go through chemical processes. A microwave is just light energy.
      I swear, people have some of the most bizarre beliefs.

      The chemicals are in a completely separate container that the the food container is in. No way to leach into it.

    We have misters, washroom bidets, UPI for universal payments and transfers, standing food serving restaurants, umbrella covers at the entrances, vertical multi storey mechanical parking, natural hot springs here in India as well.
    Additionally we have delivery apps which can deliver anything from food, groceries, tiffins, paperwork to mobiles and laptops in a few minutes.

    In MY opinion the reason we do not have these type features in the US is, one, some people in the US do not think that things done or made in other countries, like Japan, are as good as Americans can do it; and two, in the US its always someone has to make some money off of innovations like Japan has.

      Used to be whatever was "make in Japan" was a cheap item. Toyotas are one of the number one cars that last a long time. NOW everything from "China" is considered questionable or full of toxic chemicals. [which is true at this time]. Let's see what the future brings. We are, after all Earthlings.🤔🤔

      Interesting perspective! Japan definitely focuses a lot on efficiency and convenience in everyday life, which leads to many unique innovations. Different countries have different priorities and systems, but it's always fascinating to see how ideas from around the world can inspire new solutions. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    Why can’t you use the onsets when you have tattoos?

    • @midnightrambler6227
      @midnightrambler6227 Month ago +1

      Because traditionally tattoos are associated with Yakuza criminal groups, and they don't want others to be scared or offended by those who have tattoos.

      Bathing SUITS---a "suite" is a connected series of rooms, or a matching collection of furniture, not an article of clothing. And for the purposes of PUBLIC viewing, YT cannot permit nudity, hence the man having to wear shorts--and he wasn't in an onsen, he was in a natural spring.

    There are two things contributing to Japan's success. One, they have a high average IQ, approximately 107, one of the highest in the world. Second, they have a high level of social reciprocity, meaning they care about their neighbors, its not a theory but reality. Lastly, perhaps most controversially, they are a largely homogeneous society, which generally speaking tamps down on rebellious forces in-country.
