I couldn't stop crying for days after i finished watching, because their ending made me really sad, so i decided to write my own version of how the show ends, so that i could feel better. Let me know if you liked it😊: "She would sleep, she would wake and she would walk." There hadn't been a single night that Dani hadn't visited the love of her life. She didn't want to break Jamie's heart even further, so she only visited her at night when she was sleeping, placing her hand gently on her lover's shoulder, almost as if trying to soothe her pain and make her feel safe and loved as she slept. One night Jamie had a dream. That night, she had gone back to her hotel room after having a lovely evening at Flora's wedding. She even got to see some familiar faces, her good friends Owen, Miles, Henry, Flora. The love and warmth she witnessed at the wedding, made her dream about her own, that night. She never got to have that with Dani, so she would daydream about it often. Knowing that it could never happen, she woke up upset, with tears in her eyes. Through her blurry vision from the tears and her confusion from waking up so suddenly, she was baffled, when she thought she saw Dani rushing to exit the hotel room. She jolted up and ran after the woman in the hallway, but there was nobody there. She kept pondering on the thought for days. Was she dreaming, was she just confused, or did she actually see Dani that night. It didn't seem too far fetched to her that Dani would do anything in her power to be near her, whenever she could. This hypothetical interaction that they had, didn't leave her thoughts for days and it filled her with hope. It literally was all she could think about, and that's when it hit her. Dani wasn't gone, as she had previously thought. Not yet at least. A ghost would fade away, as time went by and people started forgetting about them. The key to solving her problem, was making the now-grown kids remember the young au-pair, that had once saved their life. She then rushed to her phone and started dialling a number. Owen picked up. She enthusiastically told Owen what had been on her mind and he immediately agreed to help. On the weekend, they met up at Henry's house with Henry and the kids and they started telling them the story, from start to finish. They didn't leave out any details. They even had pictures to show them of all the people mentioned. While they were narrating the story, something odd happened. The kids' memories quickly started to come back. That's what set the events to come into motion. Night fell slowly, and Dani once again, woke up in the bottom of the lake, cold and alone. Almost every night, she would see the events that had happened the night she invited viola inside of her body, happen again, right in front of her eyes, almost like a continuous loop that wouldn't stop. This particular night though, was different. It was the night that her story was told and the kids remembered all about her. Instantly, something peculiar happened. It almost felt like Dani got stronger and could take control over the body, she now shared with Viola. She walked up to past-Dani and switched places with her. She was now free from violas shackles and she watched the rest of the story unfold as it had already happened. The body of past-Dani, now had both pieces of viola trapped inside and the body of current-Dani was completely her, once more. Everything and everyone around her at bly manor, disappeared in an instant and she woke up in her bed in the small appartment that she used to share with Jamie, the last time she saw her in person, holding on to the recollection of what had happened the previous night. Once she realised what had happened a huge smile appeared on her face. She was ecstatic. She rushed down the stairs and hailed a cab. She told the driver the location she was heading towards and she hopped in the back seat, thinking about all the things she was going to say once she arrived. She knew exactly where Jamie had been staying, as she visited her, as a ghost, every night, to keep eachother company, in a complicated way. The trip was over, and the time had come. Her hands were shaking from the anticipation, as she knocked on the door. She heared a familiar voice from inside asking, who is it. She didn't answer, but knocked again. Jamie opened the door apprehensively and just couldn't believe her eyes. Even though 30 years had passed and she was visibly older, Jamie instantly recognised Dani and ran into her arms, hugging her without letting go. They just stood at the doorway embracing one another, for what felt like an hour, but was just a few minutes. They walked inside together and closed the door. Jamie was confused and started asking questions. Dani was confused as well, as to what made this night different from all the other times she had re-lived the events of that night at the manor. It was only when they both explained, from each of their points of view, what exactly they had done, that they were finally able to understand. They could not hold back their tears of joy, as they started to realise that they could finally be happy together and free. They spent the whole afternoon on the couch, as Jamie filled Dani up with what she had been up to for the past 30 years. Dani wasn't quite sure if she should mention, that she would visit Jamie at night, but she did, and Jamie shed a tear, because she was sure of it all these years. The same evening, they met up with everyone at Henry's. They laughed and cried as they remembered their past together. They had a lovely evening with the people that had affected their lives the most. Dani had saved the kids that night at the manor, and Jamie and the kids saved Dani with the help of henry and owen, by not giving up on her and remembering her sacrifice for them. Dani was given a second chance in life, in contrary to what happened to Viola. The reason was, that Viola held on to her anger and was vicious, whereas Dani was selfless and sacrificed herself so that her loved ones could be happy and safe. They both ended up getting the fate that they deserved. You see, Dani was different. Viola's love for her daughter, possesed her soul at bly and the others' as well, and Peter's love for Rebecca was not exactly love, but possession, which ended up getting her killed. Dani's love, liberated her and the souls that had been trapped at bly for so many years, from death and purgatory, as she sacrificed herself for them. Even when Jamie went back to the lake and begged Dani to drag her down with her, Dani didnt. For, "the lady in the lake was also Dani, and Dani wouldn't. Dani would never". Even though they didn't get the chance to spend tha past three decades together, they were still together in their thoughts, everyday that passed, and they held onto eachother, just like soulmates do. They both decided to let go of the past and focus on their future, now that they were finally able to be together and they started to take it slow, day by day, enjoying every moment that they spent together, for the rest of their lives. They even ended up getting married, its never too late you know, and they re-opened the little flower shop at the end of the street that they used to share. They would often meet up with their old friends and their new families at the weekend and have family dinners together. They also travelled a lot all over the world, creating long-lasting memories. They lived a long and happy life. Since they never wanted to lose each other again, they made sure to always stay close to one another and "they took it day by day" making the most out of every moment that passed, in order to compensate for the time that they had spent apart. Stories likes this one don't happen often. They're quite rare. Just like a moonflower. We must admit though, that this one in particular, is just... perfectly splendid. What bothered me the most is Jamie being convinced that she was forgotten by Dani because Dani didn't show her ghost form to her but in reality she did visit Jamie every night:(
I don’t think she felt forgotten. She understand why. She knew that Dani wouldn’t come to her because Jamie would say “it is you, it is us, it is me”. She knew that Dani would feel like it was hurting her.
yeah i think she still thought Dani was forced to follow the rules set for the other ghosts since that was what she was familiar with. but since Dani broke Viola's curse she sort of makes her own rules
I'm here right after watching the last episode. My pillow is damp. And my eyes are burning. And my heart feels heavy. Jamie was my favorite in the entire series. And Jamie and Dani are JUST PERFECTLY SPLENDID!
