I am a guitarist who started thinking about buying a bass for home recording purposes.... To be perfectly honest I love your videos... The way you play would sell me all the basses you play. Please make more and more and more....
The bass does have limitations but I got around that by putting it through my all Ashdown gears. Now sounds like a studio mixed down sound, and sounds wonderful
A more expensive version of the mb 4 could be great. Like you do with the jj54 jp54 or 55, or the enhanced serie. Something between 200 and 300€. With maple or rosewood fretboard, new finish, active 2 band preamp etc..
I love its sound, so strong, and Sophie Chassée is so cute and charming advertising it (aside her so good playing), that buying the thing is becoming a must... 😊😊😊😊❤️🌹
Really beautiful. Gorgeous body contours ....... and the bass looks lovely too lol ( sorry Sophie, I couldn't resist lol Have a fabulous Christmas and all the very best for 2022 ) Both the bass and the bass player are truly wonderful. Great presentation, as always. x
Okay so cool concept on the pickup with the double volume for one pickup but why not just add a 2 way toggle switch and added a 2 band bass and treble eq ?
This is great, realistically priced instrument, I kinda wanna get one and upgrade electronics on it and it would probably serve well for over 10 years, same for other basses in this series, when I see Ibanez, Cort and Fender asking 5x more for their instruments and they turn out really, REALLY BAD, I kinda wonder why they even bother, Harley Benton is the king and I hope they stay good quality and affordable forever. I mean sure, a Sandberg is nice, but not 2000€ nice, if MB-4 is a little over 100€, I'd give 500€ tops for Sandberg, and no, not Electra, one of the top shelf basses. Because, realistically, that's how it adds up on paper. Asking for 1500€ on top of that is delusion! Bless Harley Benton for keeping it real, I hope I'll get to own one of your instruments soon, I've heard nothing but great things.
hello I'm not sure whether to buy this harley benton bass or a yamaha trbx 174, which is better in terms of performance? Or well, if you were in my place, which one would you choose?
It depends on what you are expecting from the bass. First of all I must mention the fact that I have never played a Musicman or any kind replicas of it -such as this Harley Benton- though I have played Yamaha Trbx 174 on several occasions as a close friend of mine had one of these. I would say if you are a beginner it is better to begin with a modern, "jack of all trades" bass to figure out which way you want to go. Which genre do you enjoy the most while you are playing, what kind of tone do you want, generally speaking what kind of a bass player you actually are. In order to figure that out, you must be in the position to explore and in order to explore better, you have to have a good range of tone. This Harley Benton -or generally Stingrays- have a great funky tone and you'd be having such fun with them. I as a Jazz/Blues bassist want to buy one of these, that's why I'm here :) Still, if you are not so sure in which way you want to go, I'd go with the Yamaha you mentioned, as you can get many different tones than this Harley Benton. From my experience Trbx was also very comfortable and I tend to believe that it's better to just start with an all around bass and then switch to more "spesific" ones, such as this Musicman, Rickenbacker or Viola Bass etc. Still, if you have the chance, also try out directly at the store yourself, as you'll be playing the instrument and it's really important to feel the instrument before you buy it, because everybody has a different physical&mental build, therefore opinions of different people may not be that suitable for you. Hope that it helps!
When the volumes are used individually, the pickup becomes single coil and subject to the 60 cycle hum. No noise is heard when both volumes are at the same level.
My honest opinion is this bass is made much better ( ntm ) sound a little better than the Sterling series by Musicman . I bought a Glarry GP1 and GP2 . Point being the GP2 is better than any precision bass by Squire and any bass under 1200 by Fender in my humble opinion . Just goes to show these days more cash doesn't mean better bass .

Can you put a regular musicman stingray pickguard on it?

why 2 vol knobs with a single pickup only?
Coil split humbucker :)
Does anyone have a noisy hum problem if they set the control to different volumes from each other?
When the volumes are used individually, the pickup becomes single coil and subject to the 60 cycle hum. No noise is heard when both volumes are at the same level.
How bout an MB-4 with a roasted neck option? That would take this one over the top
nice
Thanks
Is there a left handed version of this bass?
