Big cube small blocks are just too damn fun. Nice notch! My 408 is living in my vert until I can find the right notchback. Yours looks very clean. Nice job.
Im thinking of getting myself a 351W Dart Block and boring it 4.185 (185 thousandths over) with a 4.250 stroke crank. That comes out to around 470ci (469.9ci) and running some TEA highport heads with a big nasty solid roller. What kind of valvetrain and cylinder heads do you have in this build and what trans are you running?
460 small block… thank you sir… I’ve now made up my mind which way to go with my ford engine build, I was almost set on a dart 302 block stroked to 363 but after seeing this and a few others with a 351 stroked to 460 I’m pretty sold
@josiahcuster97 Cubic inches = the size of the bore and the length of the stroke. A small block windsor motor is normally 351 cubic inches, if you punch the cylinders and lay a huge stroker crank in there it's then a larger size bore AND it's a longer stroke, the volume on this motor ( it's really an engine, motors are electric) is now 460 C.I. Don't get hung on the 460 number, it could have been built to any number you wanted by just changing the bore or stroke a little. Just happens to be 460
You buy an aftermarket crank, rods and pistons and preferably an aftermarket race block (ie. Dart iron eagle, Man-o-war, motorsport etc). It utilizes a 4.250 stroke with a 4.155 bore to make 460ci. I built a 434ci using a bored stock block and a hawks racing stroker kit, only had to grind a tiny notch out of the bottom of the cyl bore to clear the rods and that was it. Cost about $680 off ebay. Ported stock DOOE heads with high compression pistons and a cheap cam made almost 500hp and 580ft tq
Guess people have never heard of aftermarket big bore blocks. You can have a 460 small block. Biggest Ive heard for a 351w based is 454 but I bet you could squeeze an extra 6 cubes.
you would think it would put down a better times than .9.80 ET AT 138 MPH, i have built 347 cars that ran 9.64 on all motor with less compression ( 12.5.1 ) on a set of AFR 205 outlaw heads Carb motor.in a " street car " 87 coupe full insides , liberty pro shifted tremec, But nice looking car. im fixin to build a 460 ci sbf to replace a 427 ci sbf i have in my 93 coupe with a 101 mm.
thanks man theats bad ass i own a 355 85z28 but have a buddy with 93 fox with cammed 302 but hes building a 351 with 473 lift cam...gotta keep up with the big bad chevy lol
my 93 looked just like that!!! minus the big block! lol thats what i wanted to do to it tho. to me there is nothin meaner than a mustang coupe/notch with weld big& littles,4-5" cowl hood, mean drag stance with 28x12.5 et streets in the back and a big cammed, stroked big block! bad ass car!! this is what a real street car is supposed to be!!
@bigalwillis Sorry for the delay.. Unsafe might not be the correct word to use.. but its is on the unsafe side as well.. There isnt much metal left when going to 438.. Just check out the bore center man.. Do the math.. now think about how much power your trying to acheive and decide for yourself if that seems like enough. Best option for a stock block is a 408 hands down.
Plus a Ford 460 can be easily and economically stroked to over 548ci (we just built one) with MUCH better heads (both stock DOVE/Cobra Jet heads and esp aftermarket heads) and will run high RPM with no problem. Look at the 460 rods, crank and heads and compare them to a Caddy 500 and you will see. Fords typically have more deck clearance which make them easy to stroke.
@josiahcuster97 No prob. a lot of people seem to be having a hard time with it. It's just a wild stroked out Mustang. Windsor based, stroked to 460ci...
@redryan25browne If any of you are looking to build a stock block 351W stroker motor, your safest bet is to stay with the 4" stroke crank. Then use either a .030 over piston (408), .040 over (410) or .060 over (414). Or when going to an aftermarket block, best options being 4.125 (428) or 4.155 bore (434). All of these sizes are shelf items and easy to get. You can get custom pistons made but not cheap or easy.
@bigalwillis I agree man.. SBF are fucking beast.. Take a look at classes such as X275, find qualifying results, and notice how many sbf's are on the list.. If we are staying in stockish form.. SBF is hands down better with factory 20* heads, put some 15* heads on em, and the 18* Chevy guys are SOL again.. They make sick power, and are easy to stuff a nice stroke in while keeping a decent rod ratio. 408 is as big as i like to go in a stock block, plenty of meat, awesome rod ratio, and safe.
@redryan25browne Not 454 big block.. a 454 LS engine.. We're not talking stock production cubic inches here.. these are all stroker motors. The guy in this video has an aftermarket 351W block capable of a max bore of 4.185" (DART). It is also possible to clear a 4.25" stroke crankshaft. So here some math for you youtube engine techs.. That means with off the shelf parts we can have a 468ci SBF. The motor in this video is 4.155 bore and 4.25 stroke which is technically 461ci.
Word to the wise....use a '69-72 351 to survive up to about 800 hp. A dart block of course for more. Not too many years ago Woody at FordStrokers discovered about 33% of all *roller* cam 351 blocks, that is 1985 and up, have cracks in the cam bearing bores where the holes are drilled and tapped for the tin "spider" that holds all of the lifters down. These blocks would definitely come apart at 400-500 horse or even less. Factory defective regardless of power level in any case and shouldn't even have been let out, that is if Ford even knew about it anyway...
People have been stoking 351W for a long time, and they are known to take 800-1000 hp easily. Some factory blocks may be stronger than others, but they are all good to 800hp unless they have a crack (obviously). If you really want more power or piece of mind, an aftermarket block (Dart, World, Ford Racing) is the only way to go.
hey momo, he stroked a DART small block to 460 cubic inches, it's just the size he chose, he could have stroked it to 458 cubic inches and then we would not be having this discussion! Yes, FORD made a 460, but it was a BIG BLOCK !!! Think before you speak, you'll get a lot further in life. "Keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth shut"
@SHRIKE427 so thats the compression ratio. you cant make a windsor that big unless you have proof other wise. Btw ill just make my own 460 big block which will be stroked to a minimum of 521 cu in.
For the last time.... this car is a small block stroked to 460 cubic inches!.... Search this title if you want to see one... Ford Mustang 460 Stroker Small Block Motor Fast EFI 600+ HP
Can't wait to build my Windsor stroker ford boss Windsor crate block 8.5"deck 4.125 " cylinder bored out to 4.15 AFR heads 450 + cubic inches procharged fuel blazing beast
@ 460STROKERNOTCHBACK I have been looking into similar build, is there a reason you went w/ the DART 9.5 deck block instead of the FORD Racing BOSS 351 Block w/ 9.5 Deck?
I could listen to that baby idle ALLL day!
Hell yeah stroker small block. That's a good design
Don't know how many times I'v watched this video, but I love it. That's one bad ass SBF...
Big cube small blocks are just too damn fun. Nice notch! My 408 is living in my vert until I can find the right notchback. Yours looks very clean. Nice job.
that thing has one hell of a cam in it
NICE!! love a good thumping cam! I bet your neighbors probably don't feel the same way I do though. .
Man I wish I had a neighbour with one of these when I was a kid I’d be up early waiting for him to fire it up
Sounds like a popcorn machine!
by far the best sound I've heard. i could only wish that some day i could build a block to get that kind of rumble.
That thing is nasty sounding damn
thats one bad ass car
I can watch this a million times

sweetness!!! sure sounds good. hope your neighbors love hot rods.
the beginning of this video almost makes it look like the little toyota pickup is making all the racket ;-)
My dream car right there

That sounds mean as hell!
You cant help but wonder what kind of person hit the thumbs down on this car. They must really suck. Your car owns life.
HELL yeah!! Dart blocks are the way to go for Big Power & it's only $3,000. but you get bullet proof reliability.
You buy an aftermarket crank, rods and pistons and preferably an aftermarket race block (ie. Dart iron eagle, Man-o-war, motorsport etc). It utilizes a 4.250 stroke with a 4.155 bore to make 460ci. i need that motor!! sounds great my friend!!
awesome car. Enjoy her.
Sounds nice thats a badass stang
Post a link to YOUR car so we can see how YOU do it....

Crazy power 101
now that is my kinda stang, very nice
Love those bullets.
sounds like a big black with a solid roller cam
neighbors must love you!
thanks man theats bad ass i own a 355 85z28 but have a buddy with 93 fox with cammed 302 but hes building a 351 with 473 lift cam...gotta keep up with the big bad chevy lol

Pony power. Blue oval nation.
your neighbors must love you. lol
Turbo is the way to go... Great power, well behaved.

For a second I thought that sound was coming from the toyota lol!
Yes

Wicked. I take it you get along with the neighbors. Hope so.
Nice ride real men drive big blocks
@muffinater A 460 can rev just not from the factory. But they can still hit 9000 rpm+ if worked on
sounds good brah
the power to weight on that thing must be insane!
@josiahcuster97 No prob. a lot of people seem to be having a hard time with it. It's just a wild stroked out Mustang. Windsor based, stroked to 460ci...
Sweet💪💪👍👍
LMAO! You're a fool for that one man. Thumbs up.
Huge stroker kit... They are pretty common now.
honey, the neighbors have that "thing" out again. its YOUR turn to call the police!
LOL i thought it was the yota makin all that noise for a sec
@AmericanDeathMachine No, you can stroke aftermarket sbf's to that displacement
FKNG BEAUTIFUL.....
Freaking awesome!!!
i don't like most of the "FOX" body mustangs but yours is fucking sweet man!

Thought this was a 392 stroker small block with a powerglide and 4.20 gears?
big big money car
You guys see the alien in his front yard...
FUCKING BEAUTY!!

Why do 99% of "Car Guys" lack proper grammar skills?
BADASS!!!!
Damn, thats badass. What do you have done to the motor??
beast mode. is it street legal? trying to bulid a bbf. but want it street legal or pump gas. whats your set-up if you don't mind me asking.
holy crap, I didnt even know a 460 sbf even existed!!!
Wicked.
Cool.
@SHRIKE427 so thats the compression ratio. you cant make a windsor that big unless you have proof other wise. Btw ill just make my own 460 big block which will be stroked to a minimum of 521 cu in.

Ford Mustang 460 Stroker Small Block Motor Fast EFI 600+ HP
wow what a fox! i thought the motor was gonna fly out the car...
because this one was sweet!
sweet foxbody, i'm looking to get a notch and fixing it up, except my engine wouldn't be that radical lol.
Is that the ford motorsport 351w/460 crate motor?
Can't wait to build my Windsor stroker ford boss Windsor crate block 8.5"deck 4.125 " cylinder bored out to 4.15 AFR heads 450 + cubic inches procharged fuel blazing beast
@SHRIKE427 but...... but... wouldnt the 460 cubic inch block be quilified as a big block?
This is for sale right now I think in Illinois if you want your car back lol
@88whitenotchback Probably lookin at an aftermarket aluminum block for that. the stock 460 block does around 570ish safely
"small" nice, that thing wanted to hook but 2nd was too much. nice run.
@SHRIKE427 Can't find that races of this coupe against a Viper.
nice
@Vikturus2k6
Its a stroked 460 block? Or a 9.5" deck stroked to 460 CI?
@86mustang408w If i remember correctly its a 10.30" or 10.35" cause there are 2 429/460 blocks for certain years and some had a taller deck
@SHRIKE427 Thanks Bro!
What year is that a firebird in the garage?
@maxell3655 Hey Nutsack, It's my buddies car, thats my house.... It's a small block stroked to 460 cubes by T&L engines in NC
Actually, lunati makes a crank for Chevy that can stroke out to 427ci with the Gen I 350 block
so is that a 460 stroked or a small block stroked to 460 ?
@SHRIKE427 If that is the case what was the block before it was stroked to a 460
@ 460STROKERNOTCHBACK I have been looking into similar build, is there a reason you went w/ the DART 9.5 deck block instead of the FORD Racing BOSS 351 Block w/ 9.5 Deck?
This car IS a windsor based 460 cubic inch small block, w/680 HP.....
Verrrrrynice...........and yes 460ci is doable w/a Dart block big bore and long stroke,Ford rules!
@Jpitcher22 i agree i got a 351 thats been bored out to a 418 and its pushin 600 horse
