Marked Giyuu by himself gave a good fight to serious Akaza, and we know Akaza was serious on that fight because he wasn't talking, and Akaza himself said he loves talking while fighting. Tanjiro was barely hashira level in base (as Giyuu stated), he only got really impressive with see through world and selfless state, and he blitzed and beheaded Akaza on the first moment he got that. Akaza didn't kill himself, Tanjiro beheaded him, Akaza was only able to live for a little bit after that because of his willpower, the second it got weaker, he died, just as Kokushibo did. A demon can't just kill itself, if it could, Rui's mom would have done it, plus, Akaza himself stated he lost on the moment he got beheaded. Infinity castle Tanjiro is far from having 99% the power of 13th form Tanjiro, that should be kinda obvious. Akaza is definitely way stronger than Rengoku, and Rengoku doesn't stand a chance if he fights serious Akaza on a straight 1v1 fight , but it isn't like Akaza would kill him on the first blow or anything like, that's all i'm trying to say

Akaza is definitely way stronger than Rengoku, and Rengoku doesn't stand a chance if he fights serious Akaza on a straight 1v1 fight , but it isn't like Akaza would kill him on the first blow or anything like, that's all i'm trying to say

I agree that rengoku wouldn’t die so easily he is a hashira and he was still standing after being beat to a pulp by the 4th strongest demon so yes I’m some sense maybe rengoku’s feat against Akaza is a little down played but I still don’t think it’s valid enough to compare to the things most other hashira have done (Gyomei, sanemi, Muichiro, obanai ect)
