This is exactly what I tell my kids. Bath at night to wash off the days environment so you bring none of it to your bed n sleep in it. I love listening to you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. ❤❤
My Saint Derm (it' s gonna be 25 years "together" next month) has always called me something in spanish that has the same vibe than her nerds and with the exact same attitude😅. That' s why I started calling him _Sherino_ when Dr Idriss appeared in our lifes😆. Funnily enough, I look like Shereene (uglier version but we could perfectly pass as sisters) so when I perform my complaining dramaqueen monologue, he answers me back: "Have you finished crying, Missss Idrissssss? Can I examine your skin, please?" A gem, a saint🙌🏼😍🖤!!!!
I still wash my face twice, in the morning and night. I use cleanser for sensitive skin like la rach posay or aveeno (eczema association certified) so it’s not harsh to my skin. I can’t fathom the idea of NOT washing your face or just washing it once. My face gets oily in the morning and have to wash my face and I put toner, moisturizer and sunscreen (I can’t imagine putting sunscreen on unwashed face). And at night I wash off every dirt and do night time skincare. One time on vacation I skipped washing my face once and my skin started breaking out. Find what works for your skin and take note of changes that cause you to break out.
Girl washing my face twice broke me out. When I switched to once a day or sometimes in a blue moon every other day my acne cleared up and have zero inflammation
@@KaathyIvy ok and your point is??? Not everyone is the same and when I stopped washing my face so much I broke out so much someone pointed it out. No one asked what works for your skin so just stfu

Good for her, but it gives me the same vibes as not washing your hair with shampoo anymore. It works amazingly for some people and is a nightmare for many others.
Agreed. I have *very* sensitive skin and I really cannot use regular cleansers or shampoo. I wash with water (and conditioner for hair) and I still have to use moisturizer. Sometimes I use my hypoallergenic moisturizer as a cleanser, and that's fine. Sometimes I use The Ordinary glycolic acid mixed with moisturizer, and sometimes vitamin C serum, but not daily. Not even weekly. My skin and scalp are happy and clear.
@@jclyntoledo we're still washing our hair. Just not with shampoo (at least most of the time). It's a different story if I have product in my hair that needs to get washed out. But I don't use any products (not that I'm against products! I just don't need them as long as I don't use shampoo or heat. But that's just me and I know everyone's hair is different).
Ive had acne since 4th grade, and ive tried everything to try and cure it. I tried this about a year ago and broke out so badly that it took me months to get my skin back to a semi normal state. Just do what works for your skin, stop picking up on random trends.
the dry brushing it genuinely spreading bacteria lol. My acne is absolutely horrific and if I let my face even touch my pillow it will break out, my mom on the other hand has 0 acne despite sleeping in makeup, always picking at her face, etc etc. Just because she's not breaking out doesn't mean it's a good thing to sleep in make up or pick at your skin
@MissMusanta I started this benzoyl peroxide treatment that has been really helping prevent any major breakouts, though I will say it took my skin about 3 weeks of consistently using it for it to not be overly sensitive and dry.
@user-vg6pj2my2n I've gone through many different diets as well, and right now I'm eating the best I ever have: little to no cane sugar or artificial sweeteners, no fast food, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and lots of protein. I still consistently have breakouts. I'm also very active in the gym, on average I'm clocked in 5 days a week. Please don't leave unsolicited skincare advice when you don't know the person personally.
I tried washing once a day and my acne went through the roof. It was awful. My mom has never washed her face ever and is perfect. Find what works for you.

I wash my face in the shower only, using cleaning gels and such makes my skin break out like crazy. Barely touching my face during the day and washing with water when I shower is working for me
What you said about going to bed dirty is so true. I hear so many people saying that they take their daily shower in the morning and I just can't wrap my head around it. How someone could be able to come home from work or from being out and about, especially in summer, and just go to bed without washing themselves first is beyond me, it gives me the ick, like those people who lay on top of the covers without taking off their shoes
No when I go to bed without shower, it's not as it is coming from outside. I work in air conditioned environment and I get picked up and dropped in air conditioned vehicle, it's not being in sweat and dust. And we wash our hands, face and feet after changing into PJs. And in summers we shower twice morning and evening.
@@meghasanyal4861you’re still exposed to dust, mold and germs. You’re breathing in air that other people have exhaled, air conditioning ducts are notoriously disgusting. If you’re touching a phone or computer, you’re transferring lord knows what. We touch our faces 100 times a day without even realizing. Germs from toilets and bathrooms, if you’ve made a bowel movement, e.coli is hanging out down there, an inch from your other parts. Your bed is your sanctuary. Mine is, anyway. It’s where I spend my time in relaxation and where my body heals when I sleep.
I used to think that I didn’t need to wash my face unless I wore makeup , but boy was I wrong! I started an actual daily skincare regimen and my skin looks SO much better. Now I’m kicking myself for not starting earlier 😂 but ya live and ya learn I guess

I knew someone that only used water to cleanse her skin. She had completely clear skin. I noticed that my skin would break out a lot when using facial cleansers until I stopped
My face was in terrible condition with cystic acne for over a year (when I started doing skincare). Now, it's been 3 months since I stopped using all products and I only wash my face with water. I barely have any pimples or blackheads anymore.
yes for me i'm only using micellar water at night to remove my sunscreen and make up, i do not use a facial cleanser after and my skin has never been better. did double cleansing in the past but my skin got so oily and it broke me out.
I've noticed that washing with a cleanser once a day, when I had serious acne/inflammation, made my skin break out even more. When I stopped and just used water my skin healed.
Dude washing my face only at night has made my skin feel and look so much better. I am waaaaay less oily and I dont get dry patches either!! Seriously can't recommend it enough
Im really on the fence about this issue. I dont wear a lot of makeup during the day but I do use sunscreen and moisturizers and sometimes face oil. So I usually double cleanse at night with gentle cleansers. I also use actives like retinol and sleeping masks. I feel like I need to gently cleanse my skin in the morning to wash away leftover products and dust thats floating around. Im over 60 and my skin is pretty normal...not oily or dry, so it doesnt feel stripped.
I agree. Though I think these vids are for a majority instead of all, the cleansing aspect is person to person. Cleansing once a day made my acne worse as I live in the city, wear spf and have to get the detritus off my face as I can sweat a lot in my sleep too.
I agree. There are certain skin types and ppl exposed to environmental conditions that benefit from washing more than others. Her videos are typically general advice for the majority but there are exceptions. Personally, my skin has never looked better, since I started following Dr Idriss. Once, at night, is ideal for me. Take care ❤
@@yunhosmileI completely agree. It's a person to person tbing and we all live and are exposed to different things. Also, after following Dr. Idriss' advice for a few years now and I've had great results. I also started using her skincare line a couple months ago and whoa baby! Her serum is something else. Amazing stuff. I have never seen such quick results brightening acne scars and evening my skin tone. She says evening out your skin makes the biggest difference in your overall appearance and she made some magic with this one. I've never had such an even complexion and as I've said I've only been using it for a few months. Dr. Idriss is the very best. I am so thankful she came through my feed.
I've experienced this as well, but where I'm at with this thought process currently is that my night skincare creates somewhat of a barrier between my skin any dust and whatnot. When I wash my face with just water in the morning, it rinses away anything sitting on top and then rinses away the product as well. I find a lot of the products I use have antimicrobial properties as well, so I feel like within the too few hours I sleep, nothing too bad can breed on my face 😂
It’s actually helped me so much to only wash once a day so thank you! I was struggling to figure out how to improve my skin and that really made a difference!😊
@@lydillon I know the question wasn't intended for me but I'd strongly recommend washing it at night. During the day, even if you don't weak make up, pollution and dirt usually end up in your face. At night while you're sleeping, not so much😊
I use a tiny amount of gentle soap because the elderly I'm washing are mostly incontinent. Some of them even like to finger paint with their 💩 throughout the night
@@Littleone124 yes! Absolutely! I use a pretty generous amount of gentle moisturizing soap on their bodies. I was only referring to the face when I said plain water washing. Soap definitely has its place.
@@evarkf you didn't ask me but i have some recommendations. I love the Avene Lipid replenishing cleaning oil. Its great at removing waterproof sunscreen. Fragrance free and it does not leave a film on your skin after rinsing off. Have used up i think 3 bottles of it so far. I also recently started using the CeraVe cleansing oil and i have the same thought for that one. Both are lovely. Also Uriage has a great oil cleanser
@@Print229 No, never do wipes. There are many different types of oil cleansers out there that work well for different types of skin types. It's very commonly used in double cleansing (because oil breaks up oil - it's a nice first step in removing makeup, SPF and other oily residues, and step 2 is for getting into the pores below). My favorite has been Klairs Gentle Black Deep cleansing oil, and for step to a mild gentle cleanser, often the local inexpensive cleansers. My skin type is combination leaning dry. Honestly, it's much easier to Google this, there's so much to say ♥️
@@Print229there are oil cleansers in the store that you can buy specifically made for taking of makeup and dirt. Also some people use other oils like castor oil, almond oil, etc… I’m not saying to do this or not do this. Idk I haven’t tried this myself however some people swear by it. My mom is interesting she used bio oil to take off her makeup then micellar water to get rid of the oil.
I do not usually wash my face during the weekends, or when I dont leave house for a few days. And I have noticed, even though my skin becomes somewhat drier, all the acnes, breakouts, whiteheads just vanishes, and my face becomes smooth as the shell of an egg

I use African black soap (the real one made with potash and no filler chemical, shae moisture sadly changed their formula) and a soft face brush every night. No milk and only parmigiana reggiano cheese or raw milk cheeses. My mom makes organic rice water every week, ferments it for a few days, in a spray bottle, spritzes some before bed. Rinse off with water in the morning. Changed my life.
My face is pretty much flawless (no acne, just face) and i really just wash it when i shower (every 1-3 days depending on my energy and mood) and give my face a deeper clean every 1-2 wekks when i wash my hair in the shower... this feels right for me and works for me
I’ve had atopic dermatitis my whole life which causes my skin to be supremely sensitive. I wash my whole body with ‘just water’ more often than not. The amount of internet people consume leads them to believe that makes me ‘stink’ lol but it is the only way to keep my skin cells close, clear of allergens and irritants but I still effectively clean and wash myself this way. Usually don’t even use deodorant (don’t need to). My skin is super soft, rarely get breakouts (hormonal only) and my rashes only start up if I change something or am exposed to something that irritates my skin
I stopped using soap on my face for a few months now but in the shower I spray my face with water for several minutes. That is only bc I haven't worn foundation for the past few month. It did improve my skin.
Recently no matter what I used I kept getting deep acne. So I stop using my cleansers and start rinsing my face off in the shower twice ones at the beginning to get the stuff of the day off and once at the end to make sure no product got on it. Then I moisturize after and my really bad acne went away and now I just get the occasional pimple. I decided to follow my husband skin care routine as a joke and now my skin's better than it was 😂
@@aureliadulceria7979For some! Some people have sensitive skin so daily washing (as in, cleanser + water) actually makes the skin break out. But for some others, not washing daily will cause the oils left over to clog their pores, and they’ll break out.

Honest to god, I've never really dealt with acne and I only use water. But my guess is that's probably more related to hormones and potentially diet rather than skincare
I agree. People can focus on external strategies as much as theyd like, but if they dont figure out what the cause of the acne is, they will never heal their skin issues. Every single person I knew who had acne refused to eat healthier. My SIL's younger sister took one of those broad allergy and intolerance tests and found out she was having a reaction to some kind chemical in makeup and clothes that colors the makeup and clothes black!!!! That was the source of her acne
I’ve been only washing my face once a day before bed ever since I started staying at home more. I also reduced my skin care routine to just a wash, toner and moisturizer and my skin is thrivingggg~. even my hormonal acne isnt as bad when i used to commute to work.
I have acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and just generally break out easily. But I just do a simple rice water routine twice a day and it works wonders. In the morning, I wash my face with a neutral facial bar soap or my African black soap, then apply rice water (the third rinse, refrigerated) to my face. After it air dries, I mix rice water into my moisturizer to thin it and rub onto my face. Same thing at night, except I skip the moisturizer since I can break out from excess oil on ny forehead and edges of my face. That's what works for me, it reduced my breakouts, made them smaller, and slowly corrects the dark spots. I dont recommend for everyone but it just works for me, living in the city and generally being under some stress daily. But drinking enough water, eating better, getting enough sleep, taking vitamins, and improving quality of life also helps SO much
Yesss. I started washing my face once a day instead and found extremely better results! And now you saying this just reconfirms I have been overdoing it in the past!
Can you tell this to all the beauty influencers… morning AND night?! First of all. I’m a night time shower. The thought of going to bed after being out and about all day even if I’m home all day, nope. I sleep better and just need to go into bed freshly showered. Secondly I’ve always washed my face w cold water in the morning since I was a kid. Bc my teenage cousin at the time told his sister it makes more sense to wash your face w cold water when you get up to wake you up 😂 didn’t even realize it helps my dry skin. Which is another thing. When I do have errands, I’ll shower and wash my face in the morning do my make up but than again at night. It sucks but I can’t go to sleep w makeup on 😂
I listed to your advice on this and have only been washing my face with water in the morning and cleansing at night. At the beginning, I genuinely thought my face would start breaking out within an a few days and I’d have to go back to cleansing am and pm. Nope, my skin is fine. For context I have acne prone combination skin. Early 30s. The only thing I can’t figure out how is how to keep it from being so dry during the winter. I use the ordinary skin barrier repair, snail mucin essence & moisturizer, spf and swap out neutrogena hydro boost in the am with CeraVe skin renewing night cream.

I didn't know that was recommended, but that's exactly what I've been doing for years. I'm 50ish and still have bad outdoor allergies. So I rinse my face warm water in the morning amd apply a moisturizer but at night before bed i wash my face with face soap to remove pollen and whatever else I've been exposed to that day. :) I also change my pillow case every other day (one side per night) and that alone helps prevent oil from building up on my face and hair overnight. 😊
I’ve never washed my face. I am thirty. I get confused for a teenager ALL THE TIME. I low key think all the cleansing and moisturizing is bs. 100 years ago they weren’t doing this! You know what my secret is? SLEEP. 9 hours a night. That is the actual key to anti-aging. I promise.
the sleep thing is true but actually people look younger nowadays because back then people didnt have all that cleansing knowledge and stuff other countries however mostly asian countries have always looked sooo young because they did have this knowledge so no, for you its just genetics and sleep
@meringue8058 Actually the idea that cleanser prevents acne is a fallacy. If you look at statistics only the first world countries have acne affected people. How could this be? Well, to start, soap isn't always used so often in a third world country and I can verify because I am from one. So without soap why no acne? Your skin has protective oils and microbes sealing your skin from pollution and infections. So cleansing multiple times a day weakens the protective barrier. Derms aren't taught this in sh**ty american med schools.

I agree I started doing this years ago because I felt my face was getting way too dry. I also stopped buying all these products that say they will help and literally just use the tiniest bit of ointment sunscreen and oil suited for my skin type and my skin has never been better. No need for expensive products your face just needs to be clean and hydrated.
I only wash my face with water since last yrs of highschool 😅 before that, neutragena or whatever, with acne results. Wash your hands, and under your nails. Then warm water on the face, minimal rubbing, mainly eyes, then oily nose. Then end with a splash of cold water. Pat dry with a clean facetowel. Tada! Now I do a shower routine too, with a facetowel, softly rubbing w just the warm water of the shower. But also inside-out too- my parents were vegan when I was in high school. So eat healthy too. Lots of cheese and sweets and not sleeping 8+ hrs is also going to give you bad skin..
Cleansers dry out my skin even if I do it once a day. I just use water in the shower and when my skin is softened, I rub my fingertips over my face to lift up the dead skin. People always tell me I have great skin.
I tried it and now become my facial care regime. I only wash my face with facial cleanser once a day. Morning time,I just wash with tap water, dry my face then wear sunscreen. Night time before sleep,I wash my face with facial cleanser, toner and then apply heavy moisture cream. Still have 1-2 acne but they dry faster. Better than before. Reference: I'm oily skin.
I've been washing my face just 2-3 times a week after dealing with contact dermatitis to an allergy that really messed up my skin for two years. I also tried steroids which made it worse, so I cut back on every product and that let my skin heal naturally. So much better now!
You have said there are exceptions to washing once a day and some people should do twice a day. I think I may be one of those cases...can you address this?

My skin is highly sensitive and dry skin and have had a history is acne. I visited a dermatologist and he suggested me to wash my face once a daily with plain water without cleanser and gave some lotion on acne I had on my back. I do not use soap since 2019, only creamy - no greasy cleaner with cotton cloth, room temp water, never never hot. Perfect skin :D. Now stoping the morning cleaning a few times a week, so far good.
I may “cleanse” my face once a week, as in use a face wash but other than I use water in the shower & don’t use expensive moisturizers, eye creams, etc. RARELY have a breakout or pimple. But use to have them regularly before I started doing this. Adding, I didn’t choose this root, I went through bad anxiety/depression & didn’t have the energy to do anything when I realized this root was better for my skin 🥴
This is so true. AM face wash with my white silicone exfoliator-clean. At night, dirty af from free radicals, not makeup bc I stopped wearing foundation for 3yrs now. I wake up a bit oily but after doing my 3 step routine, I do in fact feel and get more oily after. You might think “ooo glowing skin” um no. I’m definitely going to try this starting tomorrow. Wait so..i shouldn't wash my face in the morning and night with a face wash? I do it because i personally dont like the oily gunky feeling on my face but i do use a soap that us formulated for my skin type
Washing twice ruined my skin for 10 years. I fought off acne and cystic acne in my late twenties. I used to cry it was so bad and painful. Getting read in the morning was stressful because I had to constantly use green and skin tone concealer combos to color correct, it would take me 45 minutes to color correct because it was so bad. I noticed when I would forget to wash my face in the morning on weekends my skin looked less inflamed. I began to realize the less crap I washed my face with and less I used pimple cremes my skin started to get a little bit better then I decided to change my whole approach. 1. I ditched the Clean and Clear face wash. It left my skin tight after every washing and I thought that meant my face was clean. Nope that meant my barrier was destroyed! 2. I started to cleanse my skin at night by removing makeup with cold creme 3. then wash with Cetaphil sensitive skin fragrance free cleanser. 3. I used Cetaphil sensitive skin lotion after that. Thats it. 4. In the morning I use micellar water to gentle remove any oils and then 5. I use a BHA, wait 15 minutes, 6. put on cetaphil sensitive skin moisturizer with 30 spf and then 7. I put on Pippette sensitive skin mineral 50 spf. Then I put on my makeup. Now I only get 2 small pimples around my period. All the cystic acne is gone. All my acne is gone. The key is GENTLE and BHA saved and healed my skin. I hope this helps someone out there.
Accutane wldnt particularly treat scarring anyway. May need to go a different route like topical retin A or have some treatments done like microneedling. Laser as a last resort. Im not a doc but i do struggle w same.
Same here. Once you are finished with 💊💊💊, your derm will tell you what to do for scars. It can be a topical or ATO procedures. Probably you' ll have to wait some months (because Accutane remains in our body after stopping). Just be patient and follow your derm' s directions. Good luck! ✨
Hey! I'm not a derm, just a gal who did some research so take all of this advice with a grain of salt. Basically, it heavily depends on your skin type. My skin was suuuuuuper oily, like borderline bacon fat, ever since I was a kid and even worse during my teens due to puberty and increased stimulation of the sweat and oil glands. I used to break out a lot and my derm recommended me a very strong oil-stripping facewash and recommended face washing twice a day and a water-based moisturizer. The face wash worked wonders for my skin, getting rid of all the excess oil and gunk off my face and the moisturizer worked great for hydrating my skin, and reducing the sheer amount of oil in my skin. But 4-5 months later, I noticed that two face washes per day actually dried my skin out way too much, when previously they actually balanced out my skin and my moisturizer also stopped working, it sat on top without getting absorbed and actually started breaking my skin out. My derm recommended me to switch to a milder facewash only once a day and a oil-heavy moisturizer. The thing is, whatever product you apply on ur skin, does something to it. And when it does something it changes your skin. And when it changes, the products you use know might not work for you later. Now I wash my face with a super mild cleanser and moisturizer and my skin hasn't been more healthy. I can go hours without looking like Im sweating my eyeballs off. The reasons diff derms are giving different advice, is because the skin they are treating is different, the product they're recommending is different their education is different everything is different
If im not out or sweating or no make up , there is nothing to wash bar stripping my oils. The older I get the less I believe in washing face or exfoliating often ( I let retinoid & vit C do that but I go through phases without those ). I rarely use a soap unless glycerine based. When, just to check , I use a cleansing milk & wipe with cotton pad its clean , so I know im not leaving dirt on. The odd 24 hrs I dont do anything - a nice rest for the face. But I dont have any acne or rosacea or specific texture problems. Just normal. My main moisturiser is rosewater, glycetine &/or oil, &/or vaseline. I just don't get this obsession for soap/cleanser unless you are exposed to some dirt in the first place. And you wont like this, but less can be more and using the right product as your main product is going to to key . I like my skin and improving my diet & using oils/vaseline has improved it. Its not dull even when not exfoliating or not using retinoid/vit C . When I remember to use retinoids /vit C is to prevent or improve ageing , but I don't see miracles with them hence when I run out of them I forget to re-stock. Each to their own, hey !😊 Ps I also allow my skin & eyes to enjoy a bit of natural sun ,
I wash my face at night. Only at night. Im 33 and I still get carded. When I was bartedning I was asked if I was old enough to be back there. I also don't touch my face. My mother was nuts. But she was right.
I would and do when I use a retinoid compound [i.e. retinal, retinol, retinoic acid, adapalene,etc.]. Because it does make your skin more susceptible to sunburn. Also, wash if you use an exfoliating acid such as: Glycolic Acid Gluconolactone {PHA},Mandelic, Salicylic Acid, etc.. Not necessary if use hyaluronic acid because it doesn't exfoliate.
@@mike_the_chaircame here to say this! i’ve been just washing with water in the morning after cleansing at night followed by a retinol and my skin has been doing great 🫶🏻
I wash morning and night with a gentle cleaser ..I can't stand how my face feels if I just use water.. Dove beauty bar has transformed my skin from dry oliy to soft snd more normal. Pimples are gone now..i exfoliate every few days.. it love what DOVE has done for my skin ..
I found what my skin needed over many years of failing lol. I wash it twice at night: cleanse off oil and gentle cleanser. My face is VERY oily and it's maintained its elasticity this far. Don't overdo it and it will thank you.
For years I have gotten the habit of waking up, splashing water on my face and sometimes throughout the day too. I only wash in the evening. Usually with just a microfiber cloth and water but I still use some gentle facial bar soap if I remember to.... I also use the occasional charcoal scrub or pimple patches if it's my cycle/my diet isn't great
I live in a super dry climate so honestly i never "wash" my face but I do spritz it with orange blossom water + a bit of glycerine most mornings and half the time apply a natural oil on top that is a bit anti bacterial. I do not get acne 90% of the time and only do when I over moisturize or visit somewhere humid. My skin looks very good, no wrinkles, no acne. Washing my face in this climate would absolutely strip my skin and give me hives too.
I started washing my face twice a day (after my workout in the morning and before bed). I have had a major reduction in acne, my skin is healing old acne scars, and I look healthier. I will always wash my face twice a day now.
I used to never wash my face, but whenever I started doing it once a night, I could see the improvement in less than a month. I don't wear makeup, I don't have acne, but the scarring I had from old pimples went away for the most part alongside me rarely getting pimples ever. Wash your faces, people!
She’s genuinely right. I live in the city and stuck to washing my face without cleanser in the morning and then with cleanser+ skin care at night. Had OILY skin and breakouts. Now im 10x better. Yall bf
One year is wild! I use to have horrible acne and washed my face multiple times a day thinking it would help. Someone told me once to just wash it once and so I started that. I was desperate and would try anything to get rid of my acne (not even proactive worked). To my surprise washing once really worked! I don’t even use a cleanser though. Just regular soap and water 😂 I’m in my 30s now and I get one zit probably once every few months and haven’t had bad breakouts since my early 20s.
Yes this is what do. I wash all the makeup and gunk off at night in the morning I wake up and wash my face with water only. When I tell you how beautiful my skin looks with water alone in the morning. Chiefs kiss it glows 😍 (good sleep also helps)
Personally, after suffering with acne for years, washing my face with water only twice daily and a bit of light moisturiser cleared my skin completely in like 4 months
I stopped washing my face in the morning with anything but water about 8 years ago and my skin became a million times better and i have so many less issues now!
I have combination skin and my cheeks are super dry, I don't cleanse often. I'm Muslim so I wash my face 5 times a day so there isn't really that much of a need for me to cleanse my face with a cleanser. And if I do use a cleaner I use a hydrating one on my cheeks.
I’ve always washed once a day since I was told about rose water toner and wash only at night as a teen model! No wrinkles and hydrated moisturizer skin from my natural oil. Try it!
I knew it! I actually started washing once a day because skin care is EXPENSIVE now lol. I went back to using stuff I used when I was younger to simplify and cut cost- noxema, Aztec clay, raw shea butter, plain unscented moisturizer and using Vaseline under the eyes. My skin experienced a little turbulence from switching but it’s thriving and glowy. Not to mention I cut caffeine and alcohol which helped A TON!
I dont use face wash, dont wear make up, just rinse my face with only water when i shower. I eat healthy. No acne (except a few with fluctuating hormones) and have been complemented on my skin many times. Our bodies were made to clear out gunk if you treat them how nature intended!
I use to wash my face once at night with cleansers or astringents… I stopped like 10 years ago. My face has been so clear and healthy since then. Idk why but washing my face caused me to break out. Now I just use water in the shower sometimes soap. Everyone compliments my skin. 🤷♀️
Back In the days I tried going without waashing my face and seriously my skin was glowing and all my acne was gone and let me tell you I had the worse acne ever. But since I am Muslim I have to wash my face 5 times a day so I couldn’t do it anymore and my acne came back. Now I just use bp gel and I am able to wash my face 5 times a day with no acne. But seriously if you’re not Muslim and dealing with acne try going no water challenge because your skin will be glowing.
Thank you!!! I don't wear makeup or sunscreen. I don't like the feel of anything on my face! I wash it at night , oil it, and in the morning I wet my face turn oil it. I look 32 and I'm 48.
I struggled with adult acne for years. Tried all the things. Washed twice a day, washed once a day. Changed my diet, drank more water. Tried all kinds of cleansers. And then I just finally stopped washing my face entirely. No more acne.
I never wash my face with cleanser. It’s super sensitive and I break out every time I do. I just wash my face in the shower with water and clean hands. Almost perfect skin. (I also drink enough water and have a good sunscreen so there’s that)
... Look okay so my skin is the least problematic when i leave it alone aside from water washes regularly and actual washes in the shower unless its really warm and i sweat alot then I use a gentle cleanser regularly. But like realistically- my skin looksi ta best when i leave it alone (this has not, however, taught me any leassons because for some reason I keep getting back into skin care routines and realizing products in general mess up my face :')
my skin has been almost completely clear for 2-3 weeks!! Because I started only washing it at night, applying a good amount of moisturizer, and then just rinsing it off with warm water each morning before I do any makeup

Try taking pantothenic acid, it thins out the oil you're naturally producing. It's a B vitamin pill that you ingest. Also try neosporin at night.

Drinking water and bathing is really what Hydrates your skin. I usually find Hyaluaronic acid a waste of time and money for clinically dry skin. If you’re dehydrated, drink water and soak in a bath or take long showers. Dry skin is missing Oil, not hydration. Dry skin doesn’t make enough oil, so we add oil! AIM for skin compatibility. I like coconut oil if you’re not acne prone, nice, light texture and really absorbs. Might not be heavy enough Jojoba is excellent. Or a retail blend of oils easy to find. Never mineral oil.
And SPF everyday!!! I’m really loving cetaphil sheer mineral face spf50, sooo good for dry skin types!!!
@@isitstupidtoaskquestions here are a few moisturizers I love:
Egyptian Magic is all natural and like an ointment texture that you can apply thick or warm up & thin down in your hands. You might like any manuka honey based cream!
Cera Ve is fragrance free, ultra gentle (never stings or burns), rich, creamy, and wonderful, puts ceramides back in skin-often the missing component-near magical, very soothing, I am Never w/o it!
L’Occitane original light comforting cream, 5% shea butter, is fragranced but lovely texture, truly comforting like its name
Elemis pro collagen marine cream-amazingly rich and creamy, somehow, in a truly ultra lightweight texture! Newer favorite, I’m very impressed by it!!
Lol I love it. The girl in the beginning looks so pleased with herself too
Agreed. I only wash my face at night before bed. Your skin works hard all night repairing itself. I dont wanna strip that away by washing my face AGAIN when i wake up.. I know it's different for everyone, but it would be drying for me. Lol
Washing just once a day has helped my face! And saves $$. Double whammy.
This is so gross. I doubt she’s replacing that dry brush as often as she needs to. It’s probably a hot bed of bacteria and gunk
Just because something has bacteria on it doesn’t mean it’s harmful. The entire dermis needs to have bacteria on it, the intestinal tract needs bacteria. What matters is how the overall system is functioning.
How on earth do you know she isn't cleaning it ?
@@mariec7092 She is cleaning it, however, the creator states in one of her videos that she only washes once a week or once every other week. Not cleaning after every use increases the risk for infection. The bristles can create micro-tears in the skin leading to inflammation and possible damage, while also creating a perfect breeding ground for harmful bacteria.
@@saimahsanders9083 You went digging for that info just now so basically you didn't know. And since she Says herself it healed her skin and she looks fine, then I'd bet she probably is and you are just very angry.. 🤷🏻♀️
exactly! plain disgusting
I promise.
the sleep thing is true
but actually people look younger nowadays because back then people didnt have all that cleansing knowledge and stuff
other countries however mostly asian countries have always looked sooo young because they did have this knowledge
so no, for you its just genetics and sleep
Good sleep schedule. I sleep on average 12-13 hours. It’s awesome!🥰
Derms aren't taught this in sh**ty american med schools.
it is bs! They just need something to sell, and be constantly targeting women with it
yea, but in the old days, people looked like they owned a mortgage at 17.
After reading these comments, my contamination OCD has been validated!! I'm never touching people again or kissing them 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮 I thought c0vid was bad enough!!
“Washing” without soap is just RINSING.
I feel like Shereene was so close to cursing in this video 😂

Lol yeah i was hoping she was going to say a bad word 😹. Her tone did sound like as if she was about to
She's always angry.
If I miss a morning or night face wash I breakout plus my skill looks dull unless I wash it so I gotta do it twice 😂
Cleansers dry out my skin even if I do it once a day. I just use water in the shower and when my skin is softened, I rub my fingertips over my face to lift up the dead skin. People always tell me I have great skin.
Look at you all, chola!!!
with those hoops.
Stay beautiful
I tried it and now become my facial care regime. I only wash my face with facial cleanser once a day. Morning time,I just wash with tap water, dry my face then wear sunscreen. Night time before sleep,I wash my face with facial cleanser, toner and then apply heavy moisture cream. Still have 1-2 acne but they dry faster. Better than before. Reference: I'm oily skin.
Washing it once a day is not for everyone. Idk why she’s saying it like it’s universal. It’s not. If twice a day works amazing, stick to it
I've been washing my face just 2-3 times a week after dealing with contact dermatitis to an allergy that really messed up my skin for two years. I also tried steroids which made it worse, so I cut back on every product and that let my skin heal naturally. So much better now!
You have said there are exceptions to washing once a day and some people should do twice a day. I think I may be one of those cases...can you address this?
I was wondering that too
I have extremely oily skin , as soon as i wake up there's tonnes of oil , so i feel like i have to wash it
And by night all sorts of dirt accumulates so i feel like i have to wash at night as well
@@minseoksblacknailpolishinw5677Same
@@minseoksblacknailpolishinw5677This is not good advice for people with very oily skin, acne, and cystic acne. Theres no way Id want to get up in morning and not wash my face before I put on makeup for the day. Stripping the skin is one tbing but ot washing is another. And Ive experimented. Not washing pore clogging acnegenic oils off the face does nothing but cause breakouts and visibly dirty pores. No thanks.
@@minseoksblacknailpolishinw5677same case. I have combination skin (oily and dry) and plenty of dark spots so I need to wash twice 😅
If I don't wash my face in the morning, my face looks so sweaty, oily and dark at noon.
My skin is highly sensitive and dry skin and have had a history is acne. I visited a dermatologist and he suggested me to wash my face once a daily with plain water without cleanser and gave some lotion on acne I had on my back.
It’s been some years since then and I wash my face with plain cold water only usually once a day but sometimes twice. And apply moisturizer afterwards. I don’t have great skin even now but touch wood my acne has reduced dramatically. Now, I get small acne that too rarely due to occasional make up or dust. But it is still better than the skin I had when I washed it with cleanser.
So, skin is something that is different for diferrent people. Do what works for you ❤
I do not use soap since 2019, only creamy - no greasy cleaner with cotton cloth, room temp water, never never hot.
Should we dry brush our bodies? What do u say?
This is so true. AM face wash with my white silicone exfoliator-clean. At night, dirty af from free radicals, not makeup bc I stopped wearing foundation for 3yrs now. I wake up a bit oily but after doing my 3 step routine, I do in fact feel and get more oily after. You might think “ooo glowing skin” um no. I’m definitely going to try this starting tomorrow. I want to see how my face will react
Wait so..i shouldn't wash my face in the morning and night with a face wash? I do it because i personally dont like the oily gunky feeling on my face but i do use a soap that us formulated for my skin type
You are doing right. "Oily Gunk Team" here😅. We need to keep it under control with a specific cleanser for our skin type.
Hi doc, I was on Accutane for 10 months. The scarring hasn't done away, but my dermatologist says to stop Accutane. Do you think that's a good idea
Good luck! ✨
I immediately started only cleansing at night after seeing that original video, and it is a GAME CHANGER. My skin is loving it!
my derm said i should wash my face in the morning. is there a reason so many derms say different things?
@@m_b_a9567 ohhh gotcha!! tysm this is very helpful. im also insanely oily, what do you currently use that keeps the oily sweaty look at bay?
Each to their own, hey !😊
Ps I also allow my skin & eyes to enjoy a bit of natural sun ,
I wash my face at night. Only at night. Im 33 and I still get carded. When I was bartedning I was asked if I was old enough to be back there. I also don't touch my face. My mother was nuts. But she was right.
Jesus!! She's gorgeous!! Also kinda reminds me of Lady Gaga
Should I use a cleanser in the morning when used retinol at night?
Washing with water or wiping your face with a toner is sufficient
ruclips.net/video/CWrN_PdZ8QE/видео.htmlsi=AEfWGE-hnrdr1V3R
I would and do when I use a retinoid compound [i.e. retinal, retinol, retinoic acid, adapalene,etc.]. Because it does make your skin more susceptible to sunburn. Also, wash if you use an exfoliating acid such as: Glycolic Acid Gluconolactone {PHA},Mandelic, Salicylic Acid, etc.. Not necessary if use hyaluronic acid because it doesn't exfoliate.
You really don't need to!
Dr. Idriss has made a short about it already, you can look it up = The Retinol will be fully absorbed by morning :)
I also use the occasional charcoal scrub or pimple patches if it's my cycle/my diet isn't great
Alhamdulilah As a Muslim we wash our faces 5 times a day before every prayer😊
Does it dry out your face?
Thank you for the facts, so quick and direct.
Thank you doc, I am one grateful nerd.
When the hoops just give you that instant sass feeling. Ahaha. Lovee her so so much. !❤❤❤
I never wash my face with cleanser. It’s super sensitive and I break out every time I do. I just wash my face in the shower with water and clean hands. Almost perfect skin. (I also drink enough water and have a good sunscreen so there’s that)
Thank you 🙏 Stay blessed ☮️
