Best one to get is a Kosher Kudu Yeminite Shofar. I would recommend to get it fully polished. I got mine only half polished and wish I would have known that before ordering.
My 8 year old and 10 year old and even my 6 year old can blow the shofar so well and when they do I just close my eyes and let the sounds wash over my body and mind. I call any one of them to blow it, cos I am embarrassed to say this, - try as I may: I just can't do it !! I'll keep practicing ☺️

I tried blowing the shofar and all I got out of it was slobber. Do I need an anointing to be able to play it?
You need to "purse" your lips and blow using the side of your mouth. Practise and you will get it.

Shofars are bad, they are noisy, and they break easily.
