omg the fact that this video is from 2014 and this woman is still more open minded, informed and careful talking about this compared to people now living in 2021...
I'm really shocked by how many negative comments there are for this video. As a gay man, I don't particularly care if you're homophobic or not. But if you've got nothing neutral or nice to say then don't say anything. There's a lot going on in this world! Rain forests disappearing, polar ice caps melting, people starving, dying and living in cardboard boxes. If you are homophobic, that's fine by me, but maybe you should worry about some of the bigger things in this world, before you speak out to hurt people.
You’re absolutely right my friend, there many horrible things happening in our world which need more focus on, and about you being gay , I can tell you I’ve met with some gay people and believe me the were the nicest people I ever met ...
If I choose to dislike homosexuals or just dont agree with them doesn't mean I'm homophobic. If I dont like pizza does that mean that I'm afraid of it?
Regardless of your views, remember a few things: In many languages there is no equivalent for 'LGBT' so it's really useful to have someone patient like Ronnie explain what it means. Also, if you plan to move to an English-speaking country and you want to not seem like a clueless foreigner, you WILL need to know what these words mean. No, this isn't propaganda. It's a language lesson. Also...how can you get mad at someone for telling you not to be hateful?
@@threed902 I mean, it's important if you want get to know things that is outside of your own perspective. It just make you a better person in terms of understand differences.
Sure I think it’s useful knowing the words and especially the slangs used in these conversations, but a few things Ronni got wrong. There’s gay people everywhere, that’s just false ok , oc they wish that. Be gay at the end obviously that’s pushing her views on the viewer. •••••••••••••••• Now these terms kinda easy to explain to an adult but try to explain what a non-binary trans or whatever, really they keep adding definitions and genders that they would probably need a dedicated Dictionary just for human sexuality identities
@@williamhalstediq Where are there no gay people? For the most part, she was right. I've been to many countries throughout Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East. There were gay people in every country I had visted. You not being aware that the people around you are gay doesn't mean they don't exist. Also, the word gay in English also means happy and at the end of the video she might not have intended on you being "gay" as in an homosexual.
I dont understand why those idiots unsubscribe her. For me this is a good lesson because maybe in some school, the teacher won't teach their students about this. Am i right?
Exactly right, growing up in America, in New York City, in the late 2000s and early 2010s, nobody taught me about this. People were actually even homophobic in their teaching in my elementary school years. I'm glad that times have changed and I'm in a more accepting environment now.
Hi Ronnie, thanks for the lesson. I'm a native English speaker, so I don't really "need" lessons, but I do enjoy watching. I do need to say one thing though about homophobia. Homophobia means you are afraid of gay people. If you simply do not like gay people, you're not homophobic (just an asshole, lol). A lot of people confuse homophobia with just being an ass. Kind of a political ploy, really.
I am not against gay people nor transgenders I'm "atheist" I have no right to hate any of them but what I really hate is how I get uncomfortable "my heart freaks out" when I see a transgender or gay people especially men, I don't know why! Does that make me a homophobic?
Rose Wayne In the scientific sense, yes--if spiders make you nervous, you're "arachnophobia" but it doesn't mean that you hate gay people. You just have to calm down and realize that we're not dangerous. Good luck to you.
Homophobia means to have an aversion or other negative feelings towards those in the gay community, and may be based on irrational fears or prejudice beliefs. These feelings are expressed through sometimes violent or passive acts against gay community members, such as physical assaults or propaganda used to insight fear. This can be a result of someone's fear of others becoming influenced by gay people or that they, themselves, may be viewed as gay. For example, someone with internalized homophobia might outwardly express their hatred of gay people because they fear being outed by others. Someone with social homophobia fear being called gay or have their gender questioned, and might violently react to those who outwardly appear gay. However there is some controversy regarding its validity as a word, in a blanket sense, but I believe it more accurately depicts the irrational nature of the hate directed to individuals for their sexual preference or gender identity. Surely, not everyone who disagrees with the "lifestyle" suffers from homophobia, but sadly lots of people do.
I really would like to live in a such country as Canada, where people are tolerant and everyone has an opportunity to have a happy life. Unfortunately in Poland we have a huge problem with Catholic Church. 90% of polish society is catholic and unfortunately our society is very conservative. But I am really happy to say that this situation is changing. Since 2011 we have got first transgender person in polish parliament. There is some politicians, who admit that they are gays.
I don't understand why everyone gets so upset about others having a different opinion about homosexuality. What if I think homosexuality is wrong?! We are all free to think what we want as long as my freedom doesn't interfere with yours. If you are gay I will respect you and I expect the same thing from you. If someone is gay and I think it's wrong, I won't try to change them or treat them any differently. I actually have really good gay friends and we have no problems even though I think differentely. You all have to be open-minded about other people thinking different!

When I volunteered for an English tutor organization for new comers to Canada I wrote a letter to the minister in charge of educational materials provided to the organization letting her know that the language of the literature lessons were exclusive of anyone but heterosexual people.
