@scodellina - What people choose to ignore is that Stepping Out was NOT a documentary on the Blitz Club scene. The synopsis describes it as a "Survey of fashionable lifestyles in London in which the director investigates and participates in disco parties at the Blitz and Embassy clubs; Mod Night at Legends; a punk gathering outside Seditionaries, Kings Road, and a coach outing to a roller disco in Dunstable." And any Blitz footage was shot at a private birthday party, NOT a Steve Strange event.
We all spent time in the Embassy club, where a lot of your footage was shot. But it's misguided to think these people are New Romantics, just party people.
@replicantplanet I think it 's actually Ex-Rental "Nightclub people" , some friends band from the 00's. At least they were the ones I heard it by, so if not an original, they recorded it for sure. The man behind it is called Sean Turner and he used to be very proactive online, so you may find it or him somewhere. I'm sure he's on FB but lives in the US now. I used to have a CD of that track.
@Shapersofthe80s I'm afraid that you're very wrong here. The footage is taken from Lindall Hobbs' "Stepping out", a documentary on the Blitz Club scene.
ok I can't find 'Whatever Happened to the Gender Benders' anywhere? can someone post a link or something? I've been wanting to watch it for a while now and I just can't find it anywhere... cheers.
@Centigonos - You are kidding! Cocaine?! Huge disco lighting gantries?! I'm afraid you're wrong. Nine-tenths of this isn't authentic New Romantic clubbing footage. Very little of this montage is at the Blitz Club or any New Romantic club. You can clearly see the Embassy club sign in many shots (a mainstream adult nightspot). What is most insulting is the repeated used of cocaine shots which kids simply couldn't afford.
its like the best flashback!!!!
who in 2019
2022 and we go 2023
I miss those parties.

I wish I had a time machine so I could back to the late 70s/early 80s new romantic era, sadly I was born in the early 90s and not the early 60s :|
A very confused mix with some very non-New Romantic moments!
@Shapersofthe80s It's still Lyndall Hobbs' 80s documentary "Stepping out". Your point is ... ?
@Shapersofthe80s I'm afraid that you're very wrong here. The footage is taken from Lindall Hobbs' "Stepping out", a documentary on the Blitz Club scene.
@Centigonos - All the brightly lit wiggy scenes were re-recreated specially for the cameras. Which is why it all looks so cinematic.
the footage is from the documentary Whatever Happened to the Gender Benders?
@Shapersofthe80s I agree with you!!!
can we find this documentary ( stepping out ) anywhere?
