In my opinion the spartans deserve a buff. There is no reason to play offensive spartans, because Roman's are better in total attack points and also raiding (spartans really suck to get the snowball rolling because of the expensive troops). The Corinthian crusher should be produced faster so that it is also the most attack points per hour produced (marauder is better).
Just finishing my first game with Spartans; having played Gual / defense most of the time I'd equate the two with a Roman like hammer. My error in this game is always trying to do too much "offense and defense" and not doing just one or the other. One area the Spartan Defense is truly better is its defensive Cav. It can raid oasis and natar villages and any small player you can farm - druids really can't do that as well.
Each of the tribe has its own benefits to a different situations. If you take a look at my other video I demonstrated how well Gaul worked for me and my dual.
is it me that the spartans need to do a rework? It should be that they should buff the cavalry defense and reduce resource cost for the hoplite up to par for with the bowman. I feel like the spartan could be a menance in early game builds just focusing in purely doing off builds. and could switch to mid-game defense
