Hi Tim. Normally the rear axle on a tri-axle coach is a rear steer assist to allow the coach to be longer than a standard coach so they cannot be raised. Can't wait to hear the Scanny once it's straight piped. Best sound ever!!
Coach driver here, tri- axle coaches have the third axle for weight purposes and the steering is just to stop tyre scrub on tight manoeuvres for example 13m twin axle is MGW of 21T and the same length coach with three axles is 33T, it does help on 15m coaches to push the pivot axle forward shortening the theoretical wheelbase but it’s menial when all you end up with is a tail swing the size of a 3 bedroom house 😂
I don’t know how it works in England, but here in the Nordics you are able to ease the pressure on the third axle to get some more load on the drive axle. Causes more friction on slippery roads and is helpful to not get stuck in snow or ice.
Welcome back to Datashredders, or nearly!! Fun vlog as usual for your driving trips. Charge the same hourly rate as they charged for you, if you know that figure, and reduce by a £5 to allow for you lack of overheads. You need to encourage them to use you, your charges will increase with your own truck etc. Just an idea.
Nice to see you back behind the wheel Tim and it goes to show you left on good terms and they will call if they are in a bind good to have something to always fall back on even if you are out on your own.
Top tips if you want your truck to go as fast as possible. Before calibration do: 1. Put smaller profile tyre on ie: 295/70 then put on 315/80 after calibration 2. Make sure tyres have as little tread on as possible then after calibration put new ones on 3. Lower tyre pressures to about 60-70psi then pump back up after calibration 4. Set limiter to 89kph then back to 90 after calibration Doing all this should have you sitting at 59/60mph but Speedo and tacho read 56 😉
@@TruckerTim You'll be singing the vocals on the next Trucker Tim release. Number 1 for Xmas 2023.... Hey! If LadBaby can do it.......... Rename it 'Stop the Scania'😜
Good to see a classic Trucker Tim Vlog back on the channel. Tim, you where asking if the Coaches tag axel lifts... YES they do :) They also steer :) I was a bus/coach driver for Seven years, but now I drive Class 1 on Container work and never looked back. Keep the adventures coming Tim!!
Hi Tim, first of all been with you from early on and love watching you and how your growing your channel. There are lots of trucking channels but it’s your addictive personality that keeps me coming back. A bit like top gear was a motoring show but the presenters made it different and made it work (top gears not the same without the original three amigo’s). I would give Data Shredders a free one if you can afford to do so - it will help cement your future business relationship with them and would be a nice gesture for them supporting your RUclips channel. TANG 🎉
I feel like you can't have a bad day when Tim is Around. I don't know how but I sure would love to meet you one day Tim. Much love from South Africa🇿🇦❤️
Only time I lifted the rear axle on a coach was when I was stuck in snow - 90% of the time on the coaches I worked on (for a company that rhymes with Slavecoach) the tag axle was disabled or didnt work to stop us tailswinging other buses/cars/streetlamps etc!! Left the buses last Feb for the trucks no intentions of going back!
Hi Tim, my dad was a coach driver for about 14 to 15 years I myself am abit of a coach and truck enthusiast and have never seen a tri-axle coach with a lifting tag axle mate some coaches are about 14 to 15 metres so the steering axle helps with that like little.inner city urban trailers you would use to go London. Also keep your truck white save you some money just give it a good wash and a good polish and like you said someone to do a thorough deep clean inside. Take care from matt.
You said “what or why am I back at data shredders”& its called loyalty & appreciation 2 a company you served 9 years for fair play to you & as you said you’ll be coming out of there in the future with the R series & many other places 👍🏼 I love that Scania radio so cool with the start up sound of a Scania engine awesome & also I think you should charge around £20 an hour …. Self employed…you have overheads now me old China Good luck Tim 👋
Tag axle coaches - love driving them. The rear axle is a steering axle so stays down at all times. There is an option to raise them on some coaches, but normally as soon as you start moving more than 5mph it automatically drops again. I've only ever lifted a tag once when I had a blow out on the driver side tag on a Van Hool. literally limped it to the slip road. My experience is that coaches 14m and longer have a tag axle, but you may get some with a tag that are slightly shorter. I still have my full bus licence, digi card and CPC but I don't drive any more. Keep my digi and CPC updated though as you never know when you need it! I did consider doing my rigid and arctic licence but never had the funds to do it! I love driving myself though. Love watching your videos! Hope your Op Licence doesn't take too long!
Good to see you back for a day. The tag axle on the coach can't lift it turns with the front wheels to help get around tight corners. It can be locked so the rear steer won't turn. Other than that nothing really exciting about a tag axle coach
Love commentary on a day back on datashreaders. IV have agood week.....after 21yrs on class 2 IV took the step.....I'm now a class 1 driver. Got a Scania 580 highliner......and king lowloader.
the steering tag axle on large coaches only lift a little bit to help in situations where you need more friction on the driven axle. It does not come up all the way sadly. In holland the rules are that any coach longer than 13.50Meters needs a steering tag axle regardless of weight to help us get into smaller streets and villages.
Great video. Good to see you back at Data Shredders! I reckon hourly rate of £20-£30 per hour 😊 can’t wait to see your truck being out and about! #TruckerTimTones
I've known and driven a few coaches where the tag will raise, but it's normally for rear steering assistance. Plus there's almost no point raising the tag if it can be raised anyway!
Right down my neck of the woods, shame I didn’t see you about on the road. As for the coach, no they don’t lift. They’re a rear steer axle and truly does help but also bites you too with its quick swings
I love tag axel coaches too! Last one I was allowed to play with was a Vanhool but they had a button to do with the tag axel which lifted pressure off it, but didn't raise it off the ground. :[
What would look nice if you paint the wheel hubs in blue and paint the black field behind the window + mirror in a color and not in plastic. Generally paint/paste the truck in the Trucker Tim design
Nice to see you back in the saddle, Tim! About DAF Trucks: ever since its 1996 takeover by PACCAR Inc., DAF trucks have become progressively been better and better, as its American parent poured millions of dollars in DAF. In turn, DAF contributed to the continued success of its parent company by projecting a global presence for PACCAR that its two American sister brands, Kenworth and Peterbilt, couldn't. (Let's face it, Kenworth and Peterbilt, although cool trucks, have a limited presence worldwide, due to their size). DAF also contributed by designing the MX series of engines offered by the group worldwide on all its trucks.
the scania twin axle coaches i drove you could life the weight off the axle but not physically lift it off the floor like the trucks but can reduce the weight to like a tone on the axle
Hi Tim Please agree a price before you invoice. For an early start and ten hours I would be looking at £25 per hour as a one off price. However if your looking for regular work you may want to start at £20 per hour until you have your own truck on the road. Good luck.
Great to see you back at Datashredders, shame Josh wasn't around, I think £ 35.00 Per Hour Is pretty reasonable to Invoice Datashredders for your Ten Hour shift. Im not sure your reading this but my friend drives buses and he says that it can be lifted. But only when its winter and its slippery. To get more power on the driving axel
1.5 your old rate only because you was using their truck and fuel., obviously you wanna keep them sweet so they offer you work in future. When your using your own truck and fuel then of course the rate will be totally different not what I suggest 1.5.
It's a rear steer axle on coaches. Can't be raised. Does however mean you can spin a massive coach around like it's a minibus. 😂 We had a rear steer Scania Irizar I6 for a while and it would out turn every twin axle coach in the fleet.
Hey Tim its nice to see your doing some work for Data Shredders I miss the data shredders videos and I will definitely going to come down to a trucker Tim experience day it will be super cool as I have always wanted to get into a truck and know what its like ever since id seen your videos.
