The Joy Formidable, Silent Treatment

- Welsh rockers the Joy Formidable found international acclaim-and some rock star love from Dave Grohl-with their ethereal debut full-length, 'The Big Roar.' And while busy touring the world in support of it, they still found time to work on its follow-up, the recently released 'Wolf's Law.' No sophomore slump here. The Guardian says, "This is one for speakers, not headphones, a great dense whoosh of music that makes you feel like the bloke in the old Maxell tapes advert." That even remains true in this stripped-down, emotional, acoustic version of the LP's "Silent Treatment," done in an East Village hotel room.

I can't believe this band is not more popular. To me, they one of best bands to come along in years. Really love 'em
A month away from seeing Joy Formidable and I cannnot wait. So lucky to have this talented lot living and working in my country. Cerddoriaeth hyfryd.
after spending over 10 years in an off and on relationship which was very stop and go, arguments leading to the end, disassociated sex for awhile then complete disconnection. this song connects so well to that whole situation. I was in love with the ghost that haunted my dreams every night, and waking hours. I wont speak ill of her but she destroyed my belief in the idea that love was real, and that there was anything beyond her. I was so angry with how she treated me and how we would hate each other and never got anywhere in our connection. after the last bout with her I gave up all emotional connection with women and had disassociated sex with many women and had no real care what they thought or did. I then realized who I was becoming and took 2 years of celibacy and have finally healed those wounds. this song brings a nostalgia to me of that growth and fighting myself to give up on that girl. I'm trying to be that healthy good man that I always wanted to be, and she saw in me but never received from me except in short bursts. I mold my own self with each step I decide to or not to take. I've been recently re-listening through all the joy formidable discography and after a really good date I was driving home in my subaru through the side streets of salem, and this song came on. I sang in my awful baritone voice along, and I felt a weight lift off my chest. thank you rhiannon, rhydian, and matt for this beautiful moment I had.
Beautiful statement- I hope you're doing well now a year later!
@@yeldarbarrow3172 it’s a growing process, beyond the confines of the limitations I put on myself, or that others collude unknowingly to shackle my suffering. No longer do my wrists burn from tight cold metal. I continue to heal and develop, I walk through the joyous storm of cleansing and allow the storm to collapse in my heart and it’s electricity beats me further, and fires into my mind, a clarity I longed for, and a love for myself I never knew. Accepting it, is the grief that I, was lost to begin with, now I tread my own path, shining on, and carrying the weight of the storm.

Welcome
I’ll take the silent treatment
Off your hands uneven
I’ll take the easy cynicism
Less talking more reason
I, over you
I, over you
I, that’s all you left for me
I’ll wait up watching time
You tumble home
Safe inside
Twisted now, but at the time
No fears, a treasured prize
I, over you
I, over you
I, that’s all you left for me
I’ll take the silent treatment off your hands unbeaten
I’ll take the easy sequence
Less people, more freedom
The blood cheat
Don’t give myself away
Don’t give myself away
The dull seed
Don’t give myself away
And long for the rest of this curse
I, over you
I, over you
I, that’s all you left for me
I’ll take a quiet leave it
But I’m hot-wired, quick-feelinged
So I’ll take the silent treatment
I’ll take the silent treatment
I was waiting "this is the end..."
