If they were smart they would have pushed the dealership hard, used him to promote their vehicles, and used him to develop brand loyalty for a whole segment of the population of the US. Ford wasn't just morally bankrupt but too stupid to know how to make money long term. Pathetic.
Joe Louis should have helped the Patterson family. A Black family that made cars before Ford. His name could have helped them out and get going. People from that time said Patterson car was better than Ford but racial barriers prevented him from getting financing and he couldn’t get a chance to mass produce like Ford.
Mr. Patterson was making cars before Ford, but after his death, his children took over and they went under during the Depression. You are correct, they were not able to get the financing to mass product cars. They use to make chasies for carriages which was said to be exquisite. None of the cars are around and only a few chasies exist today. As a retired educator, I closed the doors and taught about Patterson, Major Taylor and the Negro League, not to mention Emmett Till.
FORD would've made MILLIONS if they gave Joe Louis a dealership!! So many African Americans would've flocked buy Fords probably more than Cadillac! Thanks for the video🌟👍😁🌹🙏👊
Pay attention, they maintained the franchise on the means of production. They kept an artificial ceiling on what you’re allowed to own and allowed to produce. Even now you cannot own the means of production without a white benefactor
Despite you being a 80's baby you are living in more evil today than they were. With the illusion of inclusion right before you you better look into Project 2025 and see how crazy the United States OF AMERIKKA is. A wicked place.
Yes you could have. I'm proud of them. They faced more than we ever did and overcame yet today people complain and whine about the smallest stuff. I've been through a lot and I'm glad for it. It made me a much better human being.
Thank you. This really brings home the apartheid system my grandparents live under. For them, Joe Lewis was the Continental shift that uplifted people of color’ Imagination in the entire world. . For my generation, it was Muhammad Ali.
Nope....ford himself was a racist not scared. The community also failed Louis because everyone black entertainment, legislator should have stepped up to not have an icon like Louis working as a greeter at a casino. Folks celebrate his name but stand and watch him suffer in old age.

I guess I was raised color blind I see people for who they are not the color of their skin
@5:45 "suspicion, disdain" and intimidation I'll add..
But America is not racist

Thank you. This really brings home the apartheid system my grandparents live under. For them, Joe Lewis was the Continental shift that uplifted people of color’ Imagination in the entire world. . For my generation, it was Muhammad Ali.
Joe was the white man’s perfect champion; kool headed, do what he’s told and eagerly patriotic. He wasn’t like Jack Johnson or Muhammad Ali.
Nope....ford himself was a racist not scared. The community also failed Louis because everyone black entertainment, legislator should have stepped up to not have an icon like Louis working as a greeter at a casino. Folks celebrate his name but stand and watch him suffer in old age.
