Well, Mon Fernandez gave San Miguel 8 more titles from 1988 to 1994, including the grand slam in 1989. It only proves that the team was better of with Fernandez than with Guidaben, who sometimes annoyed his teammates and coaches because of his temper and oncourt tantrums.
this is the 1st conference,alvin didn't turned pro until the all filipino conference ..... that's why,he wasn't qualified as a rookie of the year .... he turned pro after this conference,I think he still has a contract obligation with yco painmaster in the pabl (pbl) ......
and mon fernandez is the playing coach of purefoods ... he & jaworski are the only 2 players who are also coaches during that time ... fernandez was traded to san miguel beer the next year & won a grand slam with them ........
