The cool thing about the Fallout games, is that they are not skill heavy games. You don’t have to be good at video games to enjoy them. They are story based, and a large portion of the fun watching the character you created’s story unfold before your eyes based on your actions and choices and all that good stuff. Many people can play the same game and have their characters go through pretty different stories based on how the player chooses to play.
I'm totally with you. I think this show brought in a lot of people who likely wouldn't have ever played the games like me and made them fans. I hope they do this with a lot of other games because I just don't play them very often and would rather watch a show.

People who played the games are wrong, it's nice to have people who never played them react to the series. You should definitely do reactions to the trailers as there are enough to probably do a video or even a few videos. The line "War...war never changes." is a pretty big deal and was nice to finally see at the end of the Season 1. Everyone was wondering if they'd use it. The narrator for the games is usually Ron Perlman who says that line in the intro of every game except for a few of them. The city at the end is New Vegas and is the main setting for one of the most popular games in the series Fallout: New Vegas. That's also a big deal for the fans of that game. So New Vegas showing up was kind of a HOLY SHIT moment with a lot of oldschool Fallout nerds jumping up and down in excitement.
for 25 years we have been arguing who is droping the bomb first , now we know. 101097 is the date the first fallout game was released, such a great show
Actually it's not that simple ;) the Chinese stealth bombers and subs were incoming to the USA which took time to do, so it looks more like the Chinese knew they were about to lose the war plus learned about the FEV experiments, thus China was about to attack...and Vault Tec probably made sure of it by dropping bombs from their own space station onto the US. That's my 2 cents :)
The head writer for fallout 1 and 2 said the first bombs were dropped by China. It wouldn’t make sense for anyone else to drop the nukes- I mean, the US was pushing into mainland China and was about to knock on the front door of their capital when the bomb fell.
all we know is vault tec PLANNED to drop the bombs. i doubt they did. no way cooper's wife would let her go to a birthday party on the day they intended to destroy the world
@@calebreynolds9183 Also the Chinese learned of the FEV experiments to make super mutants: soldiers who would be immune to radiation...that and the "Fat Man" launcher and T-51 armour guaranteed China was going to lose.
The phone number for vault tec was the possible planned date for the season 2. 213-25-vault is 2/13/25. Text the number and you're told to wait for 33 weeks. Basically December's season 2 trailer.
It doesn't matter if you played the game or not. It just means you know more about the lore if you did play. It's still fun for non-players such as Katie who just figured out the Pip-Boy. The game parodied lots of stuff and in this series they do a good job of letting the viewer figure it out later by only providing little bits of info. Example; they only showed briefly in one spot some soda bottles that looked like Coca Cola. They used that logo and called it "Nuka Cola" in the game. Also, I forgot that RUclips deletes comments if you put in phone numbers. My previous comment was about episode 6 in which the black and white pre-war commercial with the guy had an actual phone number. Apparently the show did that on purpose for fans to call the number for some entertainment. Since I can't post the actual number people will have to watch that part or google it.
So much fun rewatching the series through Katie. It’s interesting to see some of the characters from Vault 31 to appear in the pre war era like Betty and the brain I believe is Bud. And the moment I realize Moldaver is actually a morally a good person with the remnants of the NCR, I sided with her over the Brotherhood of Steel. And the twist. Oh, the twists. Lucy’s mom was that feral ghoul and the dad arrives to New Vegas! Makes me wanna replay New Vegas again after all these years or see Katie play the game! Man, I am so hype for the next season after this!
You're right, there's tons of clues, foreshadowing, and clever writing through the series you'll catch on a rewatch. "Don't Lose Your Head" vault poster; when the shop lady in Filly tried to tell Lucy she didn't belong up there, noted "You've got all 10 fingers"; Vault 32 messages on the wall about knowing what was going on, and wanting destroy 'management;' confusion around Max believing the bombs dropped in his childhood; Lucy mistakenly thinking she was so silly for thinking the sun in her memories was the real sun; 'snake oil salesman' telling the Enclave scientist he had serums to fix feet, which is played like he's making it up; Lucy claiming her dad would never approve of her destroying a community to save him...etc.
My only gripe is that they needed to explain a bit more for newcomers to the universe than they did. Explaining stimpacks etc to limit confusion but overall I'm impressed.
3:39 Btw of you want to see more of the Ghoul's voice actor then I can recommend watching Invincible which was made by Robert Kirkman, the same guy who made The Walking Dead.
That dark room with the table...that is actually from the dark satire on nuclear war: "Dr STRANGELOVE", one of the most famous films of all time, been used in many other shows, music vid etc ever since ;) Also, the end scene, that's "New Vegas": Mr House the head of "Rob Co" who was at the big table, saved the city from the bombs and he seems to be not a part of the Vault-Tec/Enclave scumbags. He's not a "good" person but he's not a raving psychopath like they are So he helped rebuild Las Vegas into "New Vegas", the setting for the third game which is FANTASTIC for story etc :)
I agree with you 100%. Usually when people think you need to play the game first or watch the movies in release order rather than Chronological it's because that's how they watched them, and they think youll capture their experience that way. That usually not the case though, because they had less content around the title and more time between content, even wondering if they'd ever get more content at all. Your experience can't replicate that, but you can definitely enjoy your own. I had fun watching along with you! Thanks for sharing.
Brain In A Jar..Head In A Jar (Futurama). Betty is the Overseer from 33...who knew. I love the music from The Inkspots. Would hank have destroyed Shady Sands if he had known it was started by Vault dwellers?
"Not only your dad sucks but he majorly atomically sucks." Amazing commentary 🤣🤣 Btw, Pip is a acronym for Personal Information Processor, which is basically a computer. You can say its rather more of portable computer rather than a watch.
If/when you decide to play... New Vegas is generally considered the "best" but 4 is definitely the easiest intro for new players. It was a fun ride lady. Nice series
Caesers Legion, the Enclave, BoS, the Omertàs, The white glove society, Mr House, The Institute, the Enclave… All evil. Different flavors for sure, but totally evil. Torch ‘em.
@@calebreynolds9183 Mr House isn't evil like the others, amoral yes, but not an outright monster, he doesn't like killing without a genuinely valid reason. Remember the NCR is become a hypocritical tyranny just like Pre-war USA and for the same reasons. "Yes Man" is a rogue AI...! Most folk don't really think about what Mr House's "ending" really means in New Vegas: he allows the Courier to be be more humane etc, but creates a barrier to both NCR and the Legion without slaughter, plus crucially, he rebuilds tech etc There's no "Good" ending but Mr House's is "less bad" and while Yes Man seems to be the "best"...there's hints he will go rogue.
No no. This series is absolutely an excellent introduction to the whole setting. It stands well on its own even for people who don't even know the games (of which there are seven or eight at this point, but each is a standalone title that doesn't require knowledge of the other games to enjoy).

@@RandalReid they were ncr. They praised moldaver in Vault 4. They weren't raiders. That how Vault 33 people saw them. I'm not saying they were good people. There is no good faction in this world. Moldaver had a communits cult before the war and now she turned ncr into another cult. That's it. I was just trying explain why they attack Vault 33
@@jackhilton4285 Are those specific people from Vault 4 though? Because for NCR they acted like raiders. If anything they appear to be raiders that the NCR integrated or recruited or made a deal with. You don't have to tell me there are no straight up good faction in Fallout. I've played all the games since the first one back in the late 90s.
On the discussion of whether Moldaver's followers are Raiders or NCR: They're neither. Moldaver doesn't hold a title like general or any other that is used by the NCR. Her people call her the "Flame Mother". Other characters describe her as a "witch" and cult leader. And their actions bear that out: her followers are a revenge cult that grew out of the destruction of Shady Sands. Her aims being altruistic don't change that her methods are really not. (So, about average in terms of faction morality in the wasteland, more or less...)
I started playing fallout 3 back in 2008 then fallout 4. Even if you didn’t play the games this series was outstanding for for both sides. I was even confused with some events in the show
It is totally not necessary to have played the games to enjoy the show, nothing is really ruined. Each game is designed to be stand alone to the point where they take place decades apart across two hundred years and in different parts of post apocalyptic US. They are also meant to be played as you choose: good, evil, neutral able to build your character how you like. The show itself is a good example of the type of things you'll experience but the reason it works so well is that it's not trying to retell a story. It does a competent job telling its own story in the Wasteland players of the game have come to know and love, which doesn't invalidate the other stories. I'll say that I'd be down to watch you play the games if you ever decide to do so but if you're taking advice about which you should play: Fallout 4 is the most current and most accessible and will be getting a remaster soon, it's also the only game that has given us a clear look at the world Pre-War, all the other games take place solely in the Wasteland. Fallout New Vegas takes place a handful of years before the events of the show and seems to be where the second season will take place so that may be worth it to have that wow factor when season 2 comes. Great story, lots of choices and has a bit more to chew on that Fallout 3. Fallout 3 is the modern entry point to the series, it was the first they did in full 3D and takes place on the East Coast of the US, far removed from most of the events we've seen in the show. It's a solid game and was many people's introduction into Fallout. In my opinion Fallout 3 was a kind of soft reboot of the series as Fallout was purchased by a different game studio and had a different team working on it and Fallout 4. Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 are point and click, isometric designed and turned based combat. Which is to say they are old fashioned games, these two released in 1997 and 1998. Still worth a play, both have amazing stories and are a big reason so many fans are so die hard. Fallout New Vegas, to me, is the unoffical squeal to these first 2 games. It was worked on by many of the people that worked on these first two after the start of the soft reboot phase I mentioned earlier. In any case, all of the games are open world and are meant to allow you to explore and level as you go. Resource gathering, killing enemies, talking to people and making your way through situation after situation across large maps. They are all meant to sink a lot of hours into much of the time allowing the player to make their own fun. You can very much just go from point A to point B in order to complete the stories but it would be a different experience than what the games are known for. If you had to only play one I would say New Vegas, just in terms of what we're about to see in season 2 of the show and the fact that you like the cool cowboy badass vibe. But if you want something more user friendly and accessible Fallout 4 is not a bad choice.

Nope all of this is very much canon and does indeed occur in the same universe as the games. It's set 9 years after Fallout 4 in 2296. There's nothing "What If" about it nor is it an alternate timeline. Same world, same events have happened.

Many people can play the same game and have their characters go through pretty different stories based on how the player chooses to play.
The random thumbs up during the dramatic moments cracked me up 😂😂
Duuuuude me too, cause I don’t know how to bloody turn off that feature ! 😂

The Hope, Time and Time, Management moments were great xD, awesome reactions as always Katie!
Season 2 was approved by Amazon either Thursday or Friday. No clue as to when they expect to start filming or projected release.
I'm totally with you. I think this show brought in a lot of people who likely wouldn't have ever played the games like me and made them fans. I hope they do this with a lot of other games because I just don't play them very often and would rather watch a show.
I played all the Fallout and yeah, they could be a serious time sink and not all people have the luxury or want to dedicate that much time. I just hope TV and film production people learn the right lessons from this show.
It took this many episodes and she just now figured out what a Pip-Boy is... Holy Christ.
Calm down, it's ok.
@@yetibeardson1168 No it's not, this dunce didn't pay any attention the whole time.
@@yetibeardson1168 It's annoying and pathetic.
Catie would kick the dog shite out of this goober.
I found your channel because of these fallout reactions, and im glad i did. Youre incredibly charming with a good personality and are fun to watch, i thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the season with ya 👍
I’m so happy to hear so, thank you kindly for that lovey comment ! ❤️
Hank heard "You want another autograph, young Henry?" and went "I must depart."
I just want a video of you guessing every question and getting it wrong.
The Ghoul didn't tell Lucy anything about her dad because as he said he didn't know that it was THE McLean. The Ghould knew him as Henry, Lucy knows him as Hank, so had he even asked her about him the names wouldn't have matched.
Most likely he didn't tell her cause he was not sure about her involvement with him and Vaut-Tec.
@@ZachSawyer2077 and would she have believed him?
@@ZachSawyer2077 Partly that sure, but he does literally say he caught that she had the same last name but didn't think it was the same relation.
@@yetibeardson1168 True, but I was referring more to him trying to understand if she also was involved in Vault-Tec BS. You know, maybe she could have been unrelated, maybe she could have been a pro-pro-pro nephew secretly carrying on the legacy, so better be cautious.
@@ZachSawyer2077 Perhaps. But I think more he just didn't really give her the thought or time of day.
something I noticed in the last scene with maximums ; the only people there were aspirants / squires. That implies pretty heavy losses.
So New Vegas showing up was kind of a HOLY SHIT moment with a lot of oldschool Fallout nerds jumping up and down in excitement.
agree
for 25 years we have been arguing who is droping the bomb first , now we know.
It's still not confirmation. Anyone could've dropped it
all we know is vault tec PLANNED to drop the bombs. i doubt they did. no way cooper's wife would let her go to a birthday party on the day they intended to destroy the world
@@calebreynolds9183 Also the Chinese learned of the FEV experiments to make super mutants: soldiers who would be immune to radiation...that and the "Fat Man" launcher and T-51 armour guaranteed China was going to lose.
Ok, that fact you missed the answer "Time" and then the meeting room reminds you of Muse's TIME is Running Out is quite a coincidence.
GIRL!!! I love love LOVE your commentary!!! You continue to crack me up!!! Thanks, this was such a great show!! Can't wait for S2!!!
"He married Oppenheimer" made me subscribe.
If you love Walton Goggins, you MUST watch Justified.
Walton Goggins said they tried to make The Ghoul sexy
7:34 xD (And then Bud´s face like happy that you´re not answering right)
I love your reaction . I played the game and love the show and I'm glad a lot of people like you who didn't play enjoyed it .
Dr. Strangelove is the inspiration for the meeting room in the episode and in the Muse music video you're thinking about.
The Ghoul does have a lot of swagger, I'll give him that.
War never changes
Yeah, but I miss Ron Perlman saying it.
3:39 Btw of you want to see more of the Ghoul's voice actor then I can recommend watching Invincible which was made by Robert Kirkman, the same guy who made The Walking Dead.
Fallout season 2 coming in Spring of 2026
That dark room with the table...that is actually from the dark satire on nuclear war: "Dr STRANGELOVE", one of the most famous films of all time, been used in many other shows, music vid etc ever since ;)
Also, the end scene, that's "New Vegas": Mr House the head of "Rob Co" who was at the big table, saved the city from the bombs and he seems to be not a part of the Vault-Tec/Enclave scumbags. He's not a "good" person but he's not a raving psychopath like they are
So he helped rebuild Las Vegas into "New Vegas", the setting for the third game which is FANTASTIC for story etc :)
Also a dead ringer for the boardroom of a much more sinister organisation than Vault-Tec - it looks just like FIFA's boarroom.
I'm very curious about what "role" House will decide to play in this "game"
Season 2 was already announced 2 days ago.
"Not only your dad sucks but he majorly atomically sucks."
Amazing commentary 🤣🤣
Btw, Pip is a acronym for Personal Information Processor, which is basically a computer. You can say its rather more of portable computer rather than a watch.
If/when you decide to play... New Vegas is generally considered the "best" but 4 is definitely the easiest intro for new players. It was a fun ride lady. Nice series
"Time is rinning out" is the muse song you're thinking of
Now that you've reached the end, you know how every Fallout game kind of plays out. You never know who is really is the bad guy.
Caesers Legion, the Enclave, BoS, the Omertàs, The white glove society, Mr House, The Institute, the Enclave…
All evil.
Most folk don't really think about what Mr House's "ending" really means in New Vegas: he allows the Courier to be be more humane etc, but creates a barrier to both NCR and the Legion without slaughter, plus crucially, he rebuilds tech etc
There's no "Good" ending but Mr House's is "less bad" and while Yes Man seems to be the "best"...there's hints he will go rogue.
he didn't tell her because he didn't know until he saw hank that it was the same henry he knew
No no. This series is absolutely an excellent introduction to the whole setting. It stands well on its own even for people who don't even know the games (of which there are seven or eight at this point, but each is a standalone title that doesn't require knowledge of the other games to enjoy).
I watched your full season of reactions; thanks, made my second watch very entertaining!
Fallout is my favorite game series and this TV show is great. It does not spoil anything for people who haven't played the games because it is a separate story from those in the games, yet it is faithful to the lore established in the games.
There's definitely a season 2!
Doing another playthrough of 4 right now and I got really excited seeing the cryo chambers.
Your "Squeeze his head" thing wasn't scary at all.
It's quite adorable though. Hahahahaha. XD

So I’m guessing the guy behind the wheel the ghoul wants to meet will turn out to be Mr House in New Vegas?
Westworld is filled with so many fallout characters and takes so much inspiration from fallout. I feel this waw nolans way ofthanking fallout fans for supporting westworld
Season 2 is already confirmed and will take place in New Vegas
9:30 Not bad? You forgot Moldaver's people tried massacring the Vault 33 dwellers with raiders in the first episode.
Well if I hear some people live happy in a safe place and one of them nuke my city, i would give them payback too
Vault 33 mascure was responsible for hank's action not moldaver
@@jackhilton4285 Payback for what? They didn't went straight for Hank but killed people who for all we know has nothing to do with dropping a nuke on Shady Sands. Also, her crew appear to be raiders not NCR.
"Vault 33 mascure was responsible for hank's action not moldaver"
This barely made sense at all.
The board meeting room looks more like an homage to the War Room in Dr. Strangelove to me.
I'm pretty sure the 2nd season has been confirmed at this point.
I started playing fallout 3 back in 2008 then fallout 4. Even if you didn’t play the games this series was outstanding for for both sides. I was even confused with some events in the show
Season 2 will be out on valintimes day 2026 let that sink in!
The funny thing is in the game we said the bomb was dropped by the Chinese.
If you are a Muse fan, have you heard of the Warning?.. Matt Bellamy gifted the lead singer Daniella Villareal a mustard Yellow Mason guitar.. they opened for the Muse in Mexico and Europe.. you should check them out
OMIGOD HE MARRIED OPPENHEIMER is probably the best take on this I've seen thus far.

If you like the Ghouls acting, you should watch the show Justified, hes sort of a main character to the show and it just tells a great story and his character is crazy and has such a wild journey through the series, what a great show.
I'm not sure but I think " young hank" is a different actor all together. I don't think it was age alteration in post.
It's definitely the same actor.
Ok, I'm in love with the Irish accent now. Especially the T H words. Great reaction Katie.

as one who have played 2 of the games, you dont need 2 do anything related 2 the games for watching this series, only if you like.. to dive deeper in things i guess, or get more of the good
This series is a Fallout (inspired) story. This timeline or the interaction between these characters never happened in the Game. This is a (What if or Else World Story).
I wouldnt be surprised if they get easter egged into the main series games.
Nope all of this is very much canon and does indeed occur in the same universe as the games. It's set 9 years after Fallout 4 in 2296.
There's nothing "What If" about it nor is it an alternate timeline. Same world, same events have happened.
@@yetibeardson1168 why don't you specifically tell me where any of this happens in the game as it does in this series? Which version? Didn't happen in the original version, didn't happen in the second. So which version are you referring to?
This is why Jonathan Nolan specifically said this series is ONLY inspired by the video game.
@@theylied1776 I told you. It's part of the same universe. Everything canon that happened in the games has happened in this show. It just takes place after the games that have been released.

I think while Moldaver's motives are more altruistic, she was just as ruthless as anyone in the wasteland. She associated with raiders (the literal scum of the earth), and people feared her. Maybe we'll find out.
