    Although the strap could be cut with some fiddling, anything that adds time to a thief's entry can work as a deterrent.
    Remember, if thieves were willing to go through spending any effort at all, they'd have a job.

    I think the big thing is if I was working for a hotel and stealing from the safe and saw something like that on the safe, I would just skip it, and move on to an easier room to rip off, instead of trying to break it open.

    Before refitting the cover you twist a screw - the protuding hasp in fact - that tightens the strap and finally pulls the device onto the safe so tight that you wouldnt be able to slide a razorblade in. Yes you could smash up the whole thing with a hammer but what we are talking about here is deterring, and in normal situations preventing, unauthorised entry while at the pool!

    it does not work with safes with a smooth inside, which have not a frame on the inside against which the inside part of the milockie should be positioned. To my mind, most safes do not have such a frame, thus rendering the milockie worthless

    Could a thin hack saw blade cut the strap?

    Probably a good idea which prevent 98% - if you use a decent padlock so you need a bolt cutter or similar. But in the video they don't. Those combination padlocks are childs play to decode. The 4 digits are very easy - the 3 digits are almost as good as none!
    If you slide in a knife you'll leave marks on the safe. So remember to use a good quality padlock so that the padlock is not the weakest point!

      I believe there’s cable inside the nylon strap. If there isn’t, this thing is definitely garbage.

    It takes less time to pick the padlock so I can't see how that would be a problem

    Those key pad safes look really easy to get into. They should also have a couple of padlock fittings so that the holidaymaker can put on their own padlocks too! If you buy a good quality 'reinforced' padlock then no thief would waste time with a shimmy trying to open it. I get the feeling that anything digital can be hacked, sometimes the good old fashioned ideas were best!

    The strap is the only thing keeping it locked tight, could it not be possible just to slide a razor behind it and cut the stupid strap? bam, instant access, and the milockie could be disposed of where nobody could find it, you cant PROVE you had it on the safe if its not there now.

    how safe is it from taking a long utility blade and slicing the strap?

    This thing is made out of plastic, but the nylon belt is hidden from view and I think most people who see this on the safe would leave immediately because they probably wouldn't even know it's held by a belt, and why waste time when you can just head over to another person's room right? (which I hope wouldn't happen).

    But what if your milocke gets stolen by the hotel staff?

    Who the fuck goes to the pool dressed like that?

  • @mrmynx

    The problem is pad locks are the easiest things to open. All you need is a small metal shim.This method will leave NO SIGNS of a break-in either.

    put a hidden nanny cam, and if you're robbed, you got the evidence on video and can reclaim 5 times more of cash than you actually put there ;)

    This is not designed to keep out the determined thief, it's designed to thwart entry by people who have the code and can open the safe without leaving any evidence of tampering. Not all padlocks are junk that can be opened with a shim either. Of course if the person in question has lockpicking skills, they may be able to still open it, but time is the thief's enemy. People like this want the fast grab. They won't sit around trying to pick a lock to not leave evidence, they'll move on.

    LOL. Yeah you're right about that... Hmm and the company behind Milock is Dutch?? Perhaps the only ones having trouble is Germans visiting The Netherlands :D

  • @Sismiques
    @Sismiques 11 лет назад

    I think the thing is to just use it as a seal to show evident tampering.

  • @RoelEngelen
    @RoelEngelen 9 лет назад

    safer idea; you forget this product, as you can pick the padlock and reset this device. Just use aluminiumfoil tape, make cuts around a selfmade sticker before you apply to create a seal. when this seal is broken; someone was in. simple.

  • @HifiCentret
    @HifiCentret 12 лет назад

    Erh... Use another padlock. Most of those design combination padlocks can be picked in about lets say 10 seconds without any tools. I'd say just about any decent brand name keyed one should do. Would have been better though if it used an integrated disc retainer lock like Abus Plus or Abloy even the classic - then the lock would no be the weak point. Remember again this does not protect again dedicated thieves. Only rotten room maids and the like looking for some quick cash or credit card info.

      It works as a seal, it has to be broken into to open the safe, however one could shimmy the padlock quite easily to open the milocki then re-attach it

    Yes like I keep saying but you keep removing my comments, all you have to do is pick the Mickey Mouse padlock first & then put it all back together as it was.
