pink floyd are the best live band there ever wad and will not be surpassed im 70 and i have seen them 5 times suggest the live pulse concert great gig in the sky and different comfortably numb as well as high hopes and the grand finish with i over i millions dollars worth of lights and effects run like hell also run like hell is the closer at david gilmore at Pompeii nlive complete with fire works these songs will blow you away
Thank you, haven’t heard this before. Not rock, jazz or pop...... just a clever piece of music and song from a master musician and his first rate band.
Should probably point out that this is David Gilmour‘s solo work, long after Pink Floyd broke up. My favorites of Pink Floyd, and of David Gilmour’s solo work keep changing, but this is currently my favorite song by him. I thank you for doing this song, I thought it was a great reaction.🙂
Gilmour is an incredible touch guitarist, he says more with a single note and a bend, than most other guitarists say in a whole solo! He saves this song with his solo, it's really a throwaway song imo, written with Pompeii in mind. "Faces of Stone" is not only the title of the song, but all around the Pompeii ruins are also literally faces carved out of stone, done back around the time of the Mt Vesuvius volcanic eruption in 79 AD. Also did you notice the Italian flavor in the music in the first part of the song, with the Accordion music? This is technically NOT Pink Floyd, it's David Gilmour, half of Pink Floyd during those years, and actually still is today! This was 2015 and from 2009 to today Pink Floyd was/is, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, (PF drummer and founding member).
Sometimes a song grows on you and they are the best ones...😏 the first time I heard Carmina Burana I couldn't get my head around it, now, 30 years later, it still gets battered at least once a week 👍
Song about his mother who was absent most of his life until just before her passing. His parents put in boarding school and went to America to teach, came back and left him in boarding school. lyrics are about walking with his mother Ask if he miss her after her death, Dave said NO. listen to how sad the solo is. Same concert "in any Tongue" solo *********** >"Comfortably Numb" for the last time 125 million views.
@ Jc524 - Interesting, I've never heard that before. I was always under the impression that his parents stayed in Cambridge aside from maybe a year or two. Where did you come across that info? I'd love to see/hear the interview where that came up.
@@ianfortier6796 doc. on box set " live from Pompeii" I believe > seen so many docs. on his life. True 2 yrs they came to America.and left Dave in the boarding school
Gilmour was in his 70's when he did this world tour in 2016. IMO, he hasn't lost a thing especially with his guitar mastery. I tried to get tickets when the American leg of the tour came through near me, but the concert sold out in less than an hour.
I love it every time I see David smiling and I first saw them in 73. 4 times total. Always a great show. Sucks getting old.

Forgot THIS is not Pink Floyd it's his solo work.

it's a "grower" for sure. I think it's about his mom, who had dementia. Listen to it again with that in mind

The song was written about his mother who had dementia. Gilmour and Mason have been PF since Waters left in the mid-80's.
David Gilmour talks about his mother suffering from madness at the end of her life
You really should check out, In Any Toungue from the same show, very emotional song.

You should check out ‘ A Boat Lies Waiting’ the song is about Rick and is beautiful.

As far as I know, this song is about Gilmour's mother's last stage when she suffered from dementia. That's the last time he spent with his mother.

It's not by Pink Floyd but by David Gilmour.

not only has he not lost a thing, he is like a fine wine. Better with age
