    A truth needs tactics?

  • @drrepair
    @drrepair 4 года назад +3

    A big part of the strategy as I see it is to probe into the "opponents" ideas and take the discussion from whatever the "opponent" comes up with. To me, it is the core of the Socratic method. A very good strategy against "sophistry" of any kind. I guess we Christians are also using all kinds of "cheap" slogans to accommodate our belives. we have to tread carefully in our own communities. Socrates did obviously not have a truth-claim. That part we don't need to emulate.

    • @LindeeLove
      @LindeeLove 4 года назад

      @tsimahei Because by definition, you can't historically prove a miracles. And maybe Socrates did not exist. But the words attributed to this person still exist.

    • @LindeeLove
      @LindeeLove 4 года назад

      @tsimahei A miracle is a violation of how our universe works. If a natural explanation can be found for something, it is not a miracle.

    So, he goes back and forth. If it’s inconvenient to quote Jesus or the Bible, he plays the “be a good American” card.

    You are over labouring the point rather than how to ask the questions.

    My question is, "what evidence do you have that a man named Jesus created our universe?"

    Love your energy and efforts to set the record straight about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.....I bought your book about Tactics... I'm also a member of the LDS Church... Not a problem with your take on our Church's teachings...I agree we are not your typical "christian" faith as opposed to a believer in the GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. You are 97% there,.... but lack the 3% which has been revealed to the rest of the Lords people recently through …Revelation...to Joseph Smith most recently and to the lost tribes of Israel that were scattered through out the world...the 3% you lack include the following: God the Father and Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit, had a plan (see Genesis 1:) to created the world as a school to prepare humanity to someday return to live with the Father...The plan included the need for a Savior, bc No unclean thing can enter his presence, so the world was prepared, and man freely given AGENCY, in the garden to choose whether we would do all things the Lord commanded. Freedom of choice created the option of Sin, sin separated us from the Father and through Christ sacrifice we would be redeemed, provided we repent and accept Christ's sacrifice... Evil, murder and anarchy are a consequences of sin but also become tools of Satan to destroy God's Plan of redemption. God the Father is literally out father and is not just a metaphor... God the Father loves His children better than any human father....imagine if your daughter is convicted of murder, do you stop loving her...? His plan provided 3 kingdoms of glory,....love continues beyond the grave, families continue in the eternity....so much more that the "christian" faiths of today do not have and need to be told as part of the good news.....

      Did you know Joseph Smith married 14 year old little girls? Did you know he had several women living in his home, many of them young girls or women already married to other men. Did you know J Smith manipulated many of these women into marrying him? did you know that?

      Can you image having to qualify all the rape, slavery, and slaughter of innocent babies by the Bible deity? And all that while claiming he loves everyone, and will send them to hell for not solving his Bible Rubik's cube riddle? Dang, that's a hard sell. Your going to need some TACTICS 😂

    • @andremontana1327
      @andremontana1327 4 года назад +2

      @tsimahei I feel your hate, but those references are not dark atheist ideas, they are dark biblical verses. You're shooting the messenger. Those things most certainly are in your "holy" book, mandated condoned and directed by Yaweh, the god character in the stories.

    • @tubian323
      @tubian323 4 года назад +1

      @J Mireles That's a good point. I was coming at the question as a skeptic. But now that you mention it I suppose that If I did have the truth and the person I was talking to didn't believe me, I would have to use "tactics" to try to convince them.

    • @andremontana1327
      @andremontana1327 4 года назад +2

      @J Mireles Thank you for your generous offer, but I'm well aquainted with the different apologetics associated with those verses. And my disagreement is not for lack contemplation. Remember there are a thousand different faiths based on the same Bible, each wholely assured of their doctrinal superiority over the others. Perhaps a better fostering of understanding could be achieved first among adherents to agree upon one narrative since supposedly it is "the" truth.

    • @andremontana1327
      @andremontana1327 4 года назад +1

      @J Mireles With a Strongs concordance, and Vines dictionary you can whip up just about anything you need, to shoehorn your presuppositions. Pay attention and you'll notice the book almost never means what it reads when a believer preaches it. It's always some deep riddle carefully concealed in the Hebrew or Greek from those that will strangely be held accountable for not knowing what was hidden there hehe.
      To me calling the Bible scripture is a "gas lighting" mind trick. Like calling it "the word of God". Who said its the word? Oh it says it of itself? What would you think if I said the prophet Tolkien wrote in the scripture of the LOTR, the word of god, about how much Saron loves us, and we must love him or he will burn us. You would laugh. It's sounds the same about the Bible.
      Non denominational or not you are a believer which means your conclusions are faith based, and not evidence oriented, although I'm sure you probably mean well.
      While I'm not against you personally, I am against religion seeing the destruction and turmoil it causes. How does the saying go? Good people will do good things, and bad people bad, but to get a good person to do bad things, well you'll need religion to do that.

    If we can legislate morality, then we don't need the church. This guy is not giving the Holy Spirit any respect. Come out of the world and stop with the marketing gimmicks.

    • @samuelbell3281
      @samuelbell3281 Год назад

      Can you imagine a place where murder and theft are legal? Of course we have laws that express a society's values. California is a good example of how things can fall apart. We haven't seen the end yet in California.

    • @cba4389
      @cba4389 Год назад

      @@samuelbell3281 You confuse morality with order. Every society has laws against physical harm and varying degrees of property rights. That's not legislating morality and the fact you don't know the difference shows why we are where we are now. You are seeking answers from government, not God. You have rejected the Holy Spirit like the Jews rejected Christ and like Adam and Eve rejected God the father. You've made man 3 for 3.

    • @samuelbell3281
      @samuelbell3281 Год назад

      @cba4389 you may be confusing morality with theism. A society agrees on what is right and wrong ( morality) and passes laws to deal with that. And no, I don't look to government for the answers. In many cases government has made things worse. God is who I follow.

    • @cba4389
      @cba4389 Год назад

      @@samuelbell3281 No. A Christian society passes laws on physical harm and property like any other society and it ends there. You are looking to the government for answers because laws come from the government. The fallen church doesn't want any responsibility for changing lives and looks to the government to do it.

    • @samuelbell3281
      @samuelbell3281 Год назад

      @cba4389 Why do societies pass laws that deal with physical harm, etc? That society thinks that whatever they are outlawing is wrong. That's a reflection of that society's moral code. It happens that most Western societies that that moral code is based on Judeo-Christian ethics. That doesn't mean that you have to be a Christian or Jew to believe that murder is wrong. Nor does that mean that government gives you salvation. Laws reflect the moral code of that society. Many people (me included) draw their morality from God.
