    Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most original and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. He travels and teaches throughout the world.
    Eckhart is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition, but excludes none. His profound yet simple and practical teachings have helped thousands of people find inner peace, healing and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of his teachings lies the transformation of individual and collective human consciousness - a global spiritual awakening.
    Eckhart Tolle is the author of The Power of Now, a #1 New York Times Bestseller, which has been translated into 32 languages and become one of the most influential spiritual books of our time.
    In his most recent book, A New Earth, he shows how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world.

    This isn't a judgement but an observation from what I've witnessed all of my life. I'm 52 years old and when I was say 8 or 9 years old, I noticed the neighbors that lived close to our home were friends who would help each other if one of them was building a fence or a shed or anything they could do to help. They would even bring food over and share it with each other. The polish couple next door would sometimes bring over pickles or popcorn, and give me pop bottles to take to the corner store so I could cash them in to buy candy. It was a wonderful feeling to an 9 year old boy to see this love and cooperation of friendship. Fast-forward to the present. Now people live next to each other and seldom ever speak much less give of themselves. I still help my neighbor take her garbage and recycle out and clear her driveway when it snows. I try to talk to them , but I am almost treated as a nuisance. This is what I was brought up on. But people have disconnected themselves from each other and seem content doing so. To me this is one of the saddest moments of my life. We have forgotten our sense of community.

      True. I too remember my mum & most of my aunts' best friends were once neighbour's. Nowadays, if your neighbour's don't ruin your life (as has been my case after being forced to move 7 times because of them & am again currently trying to) you're lucky. I count myself lucky if my neighbour's ignore me & don't wish to talk to me! Hence the many programmers here in UK called neighbour's from hell... Sadly, That's exactly what it is.

      Randy on the flip side when I was growing up -I’m 46- we had the neighbours from hell. We caught her during the night pulling up mums beautiful garden, she tried numerous times to poison our dog. Just evil things! It’s about perception and you have to be mindful not all people have that community sense even back in those days.... there was crazy lol.

      Maksim Todorov my 2 cents, for I'm not fully trough:
      I think basically it is about self-love. I did isolate myself pretty much and then kind of went trough what I need: 1.food, 2. Shelter, 3. Warmth, 4. Hygiene, 5. Rest, 6. Occupation which is not work, e.g. taking a walk, 7. Sport, 8.social contact. I observed myself all the time, like what happens when I ... ? And hence designed better habits and slowly got into that groove, implemented this designed behaviour.
      I always could stop from one day to another, by sheer willpower. But last time I stopped smoking weed like that, I hardly could find rest. So after 7 month, one leg started shaking at random times at the day. So, basically i did some kai-zen style change. Tiny bits every day over some years, with strict adherence to set rules, as long as they where beneficial.
      But mindfulness was the key. Observing myself in every second possible, gave me the information how things where intertwined and where i could best do the next change.
      Due to jobloss, family-feud, homelessness, i had to wrestle with some 20 joints and 5 beer a day, and hours of facebook, twitter and newspapers, when i was alone.
      When i had a flat and stopped contact to my family and former friends, i went to 4 joints a day and 3 beer a week, 2 hours of newspaper and 8-10 hours of tv every day.
      I'm now at 2 joints, no alcohol since 6 months, and meditation instead of newspaper and facebook and yoga, weightlifting and jogging instead of tv.
      But all the time, the priority was to feel good. Like rather have another joint and feel easy, then no joint and feeling uneasy.
      Also, following chester benningtons suicide, I watched a video on yt where he described how he spent his birthday by sleeping till afternoon, having lunch and dinner in bed and watching some episodes of sth.. shinoda was amazed: usually he wakes up at 5, does his morning workout, has breakfast at 7 and starts in the day. He would go to bed like midnight or sth. That struck me like: "hm, he had the money to do whatever he wanted. And what he did was he just kept hisself busy all day, so he couldnt be able to be torn down by his depression. But that didnt heal him, it just covered up." These where my thoughts - reality may differ from that.
      Anyway: it assured me, that the way many ppl suggested was not right: that set your alarm at 7 so you get daylight, drag yourself out of bed, have a cold shower, have breakfast, get some occupation for the day, and and and and form a habit of it. That then makes you hooked on that pattern and you are afraid to skip a beat. I realized, ppl then often just swap addictions, like work or sport, for example.
      I also did listen a lot to music (music i listened to in better times and everything these artists did in the meantime. I was a huge mjackson fan as a child. And for I was "away" when he died, i took some michael jackson weeks 2 years ago. Kanye just dropped graduation and i played it daily, next thing I know: watch the throne happened last year. :) )
      and spent nights reading wikipedia, if it felt good. Like I wanted to bake a bread and the next 2 weeks spent time understanding the biochemistry and physics of baking a bread - and every aspect which is related to it. That really brought about flow.
      I hope that might be useful for you. Just listen to yourself and throw all the negative shit out of your life.
      I could give you more specific advice if you stated what you are addicted to.
      Have a good one and all the best!

    I liked that he referenced A Course in Miracles - a path that I've studied for the past decade. One of my favorite quotes is: "I need do nothing." I think Eckhart did a lovely job putting this into words that make sense. I often stumble trying to find words to express what a particular teaching means to me. My response usually is something like "I can't say it any better or different! I DO KNOW that it - whatever it is, resonated on a deep enough level, there were no words, only NO-THING.
    Thanks for sharing! And thanks Eckhart for the work you do!

    Difficult question. Your own awakening is more helpful to others than anything else you can try to do. Sometimes we think we should introduce people to material. The one thing I realized is consciousness is the larger entity of which I am a part. I have seen people start to speak and act consciously or speaking of awakening more as I awaken everyday

    Suffering is an emphasis upon all that the world has done to injure you. Here is the world’s demented version of salvation clearly shown. Like to a dream of punishment, in which the dreamer is unconscious of what brought on the attack against himself, he sees himself attacked unjustly, and by something not himself. He is the victim of this “something else,” a thing outside himself, for which he has no reason to be held responsible. He must be innocent because he knows not what he does, but what is done to him. Yet is his own attack upon himself apparent still, for it is he who bears the suffering. And he cannot escape because its source is seen outside himself.

    what is a disconnect for me is when ET compares plants animals stones and humans - that comparison is exactly what ego is!!!!!!! unfortunately he doesnt understand that - i am pretty sure i only understand it because i am native american and it is sort of in my being to honor all of life and see that everything is my brother and sister and embody humility and know deeply that i do not know enough to really make such comparisons ----- like stones are "sleeping consciousness" whereby part of the human body is of minerals so people are partly stone in that sense

    Will someone clarify one point please i'll be more than thankful :
    Consciousness is one that would mean there is no individual and that would mean no sex, no love, no hate, no emotions because the duality is not, Yet we talk about the individual growth and enlightenment why?

    • @moni3710
      @moni3710 8 лет назад +1

      So there is only one mind which has been divided by the social need of individuality i understand but is that all? Is there nothing beyond mind that is knowledge?

    • @moni3710
      @moni3710 8 лет назад

      ***** But senses do not tell oneself anything as such, all the senses that one has use knowledge to give a certain kind of feeling.In other words feeling is also knowledge dependent, without knowledge where is the feeling of even existence? That is even mind should cease to exist which is what we call one mind or consciousness, that is even consciousnesses or mind or knowledge or whatever one wants to call it will cease to exist, which is quit puzzling..

    • @moni3710
      @moni3710 8 лет назад

      ***** i wanna know what lies beyond all this, i have have enough of this individual experience but now i wanna go back

      yes i first thought that i am my body but i could not control millions of reactions that are happening inside my body simultaneously, therefore i am not my body. Secondly i thought that i am my thinking but i realized that i do not have any control over even my thoughts, So i am not the body i am not the thoughts, maybe because i am still using the word i which indicates a separate entity that's why i am unable to come in terms with it, well it cannot be stopped by any thinking i guess, it should stop now, Thanks for your time sir.

      Ddlovatoismyhero How do you know?

  • @Cluless02
    @Cluless02 8 лет назад

    Pain demonstrates the body must be real. It is a loud, obscuring voice whose shrieks would silence what the Holy Spirit says, and keep His words from your awareness. Pain compels attention, drawing it away from Him, and focusing upon itself. Its purpose is the same as pleasure, for they both are means to make the body real. What shares a common purpose is the same. This is the law of purpose, which unites all those who share in it within itself. Pleasure and pain are equally unreal, because their purpose cannot BE achieved. Thus are they means for nothing, for they have a goal without a meaning. And they share the lack of meaning which their purpose has.
