I beg to disagree that VIX is not affected by psychology. One of the reason why VIX has a big volatile is because of the stocks. When the stocks is crash the investors is scared for their assets that why they move to options so that they can hold and balance everything. This cycle is use to put a big volume on vix and that's the way how the sentiments works on vix. Remeber that VIX is comes from Chicago Board of Option Exchange (CBOE) . I used to trade the Pyschology Levels on VIX which is showed on your prefer timeframes. Yes indicator might work but not all the time why? Because they followed also the Psychology price and level which is majority trade by traders.
