    Such a mind-blowing city. Had a chance to visit it. Inspired me to visit so many other places in the country. Someday hopefully I can.

      @@alfredneuman6488 hows the reality?🤔

    • @alfredneuman6488
      @alfredneuman6488 2 года назад

      I lived close to the Mayor's office so there was an army of street sweepers employed to keep that area clean...
      BUT, in the suburbs a bit further away there was always plenty of plastic bags floating around in the breeze, and with public toilets not too common, well that is why Chinese people take their shoes off upon entering a home.
      Then there was visual pollution... seems local government thought nothing of spray painting symbols and numbers on some buildings.... plus huge LED billboards that almost gave you radiation burns...
      Also the local government was always forcing people out of their homes on short notice and with little recompense then knocking the homes down and leaving miles of rubble...
      Having said all that, I had an interesting and not too bad a time there.

      @alfredneuman6488 2 года назад

      @@luifdls6217 I think it was actually more expensive than Shanghai...
      Over the years I was there food prices went up and up and accommodation was never cheap.
      I find that many clothing items can be bought in Australia cheaper.
      Depends on if you have a job with accommodation as part of the package I guess and what you want to spend your money on..

      @@darwinmagsino190 Yes, I have been on many Chinese subways, the Shanghai Maglev and a number of the very high speed trains. While the stations are generally reasonably clean, that often can not be said of their toilets nor the streets outside the stations.
      In the city where I lived in China, the homeless people seemed, from time to time, to "disappear" never to be seen again. All my Chinese friends thought that they had been taken to Hospital Number 2... A hospital run by the military where some people were recycled.
      While in China I also saw many new buildings... such a pity in the areas where the temperature drops below 0c in the winter that they use anti freeze to set the concrete off. The resulting cracks lead to a quick demise of those buildings.
      Overall Xi's comment about 'tofu dregs' being used in Chinese construction of anything was completely correct.
